What an awesome trip!!
First time at All Star Movies, for 3 nights, then 5 nights at Coronado Springs. We have stayed at POP previously, and I was a little nervous about our ASM stay since it isn't as new as POP. The only reason I didn't like our previous POP stay was the rock hard bed. Let me start out by saying we really liked our stay at ASM! Maybe because I started out with low expectations, but everything exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and resort is cute. Every CM we encountered was friendly. The wait for the buses were a little long, but it could have been our timing. We left a tiny present of home made goodies for our "mousekeeper" (along with a tip) and they left us a really cute Christmas card and small candies along with a towel reindeer. Our DS loved it! We decorated our window with Christmas ornaments (using 3M removable adhesive hooks) which was fun to do. The first three nights of our trip was very cold! So we didn't enjoy the pool.
We switched resorts to CSR early morning and our room wasn't ready at the time we arrived so we left our bags at Bell Services and went to the parks. At 4pm we checked and we had our room number so we could check out our room. We received our room request of Casita 1, with adjoining rooms. Our last visit was in the Ranchos section (which was also beautiful) but we really liked the location of Casita 1!! What a gorgeous resort. Luckily the weather warmed up towards the end of our vacation and we were able to hit the pool at CSR. The Casita pool was FREEZING!!! What a bummer that was. Luckily the Dig Site pool was warm. We really enjoyed the dig site and the hot tub! The pool slide is really fun. We had no issues at CSR, and again, everything exceeded our expections!
We have been able to stay at almost all of the WDW resorts, (except the 2 most expensive as of yet...and I don't see that happening any time soon
)
and I have to say, that I'd totally stay at All Stars again if that is what my budget demands. If I happen to have a few dollars to spare, I'd prefer CSR. Infact, I'm wondering if I'll ever want to spend more for a deluxe again after such a wonderful stay at CSR!
We just got home to the snow yesterday. It's snowing like crazy here today. I wish I were sitting on the bench overlooking the CSR lake with the lights reflecting off the water and the Christmas lights twinkling off the wreaths behind me right now...just like two nights ago...
We also got a little wish! Our DS has started pin trading and one of the CM's gave him a set of dream pins! One to keep, and one to give to another guest to help spread dreams around (the cards they came on explained it). Our DS was so cute when he was looking for a little kid with a lanyard to give them the second pin. It was such a cool dream to win mostly because of the happy feeling of giving someone else a dream prize!
The crowds were pretty crazy. They were definately more than what we experienced last year at this time of year. The good news is that they didn't really interfere with our trip. We didn't even make to any park openings! We arrived with the masses at about 11 every day, and went directly to the attraction we wanted our first fast pass. (At DS, both days we went the fast passes were gone around noon for the toy story ride).
We were able to go to 2 of the MVMCP's, and that was the only time we were at the MK for our trip. We went on Dec 12 and Dec 16. We found out that the 16th one was sold out on the parking lot shuttle. On the 12th, we were able to see the shows, so the 16th we concentrated on the rides. It must have been our timing, but we had pretty much no wait all night long, with the exception of Peter Pan, which we never rode because that line remained long every time we glanced over there. We went for cookies and hot chocolate early and then late, and we saw the second parade. All in all, it was a super fun experience.
If anyone has questions, I'd be happy to answer!
