I was on Magic this last week, but had a family emergency while there. I needed to rush home while we were about 1/2 hour away from departing from St. Thomas to see my father. I informed guest services immediately that I had to leave because my father was dying and I had to get home. They called their port agent who called a travel agent to arrange for my flight home and they sent two castmembers to help me pack and carry my bags off the ship. Given the time, we decided it was more important that I get home and my husband stayed. I did all the research for the trip so he probably didn't even know what restaurant to go to that night. I asked DCL to help him get through the rest of the week and from what he's told me in a few e-mails, they were wonderful. They immediately told him what my travel itinerary was to get me home. I asked DH to get their names. I'm picking him up in an hour so I'll know more then. I have never been on a worse vacation and best vacation at the same time until now. I'm glad they were there to help me.

Tracy,

I am so sorry to hear about your father. Pixie dust coming his way.

Glad to hear that DCL was able to help you and your husband out.

Dan

Glad to hear you were added in your departure...and that your DH was walked through your itenerary without you with success..

Tracy,
Prayers and pixie dust coming your way. I'm glad DCL was so helpful. It always helps to have someone with you when you are in a stressful situation.
I hope all is well with your family!
Bonnie

Prayers and pixie dust from here too! You never want anything like that to happen, especially when you are so far away. Did you have travel insurance? I'm so glad to hear that DCL was so supportive in your time of need. Keep us posted.

Tracy, we were on the cruise also and I heard about your terrible turn of events from my husband, who spoke to your husband at the golf-chipping contest. I'm glad you made it home safely. Take care.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. Yes we had travel insurance. Boy am I glad now that I got it. Hopefully when we plan to go again, we can just have a good time. Susan, I'm sorry I wasn't there to meet you. Did my DH tell you I placed 2nd in the chipping contest on Monday? Thanks again everyone.

I am so sorry to hear about your father! I hope all is well there.
I feel awful that that had to happen on your trip, but at the same time I had to kinda half smile when you said that hubby stayed while you left becasue if you are like me, you planned all this and he hasn't a clue what to do;) without you there as the tour guide/activities director. :p So I hope he still had a nice time and wasn't too lost without you there. Good luck with your father and I hope when he is better you can do another trip.

Oh my gosh, I didn't even put together that you were THAT Tracy! I saw you chip--you really put Luigi in his place! My husband is Richard, who came in third on the first day.

I'm so sorry that you had to leave, and for such a sad reason--I think you had better start planning another cruise to make up for it.

Tracy, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. It's good to know that DCL was accommodating to you and your family. Pixie dust and prayers are coming your way!

I re-read my first message and realized that I didn't tell you guys the end of the story. My husband didn't have too much fun without me and knowing what happened. My father passed away Thursday, before I got home. I did pass along a message to him that I loved him and that it was ok to go before I got home. He seemed to be at peace once he heard that and went about an hour later. If you were on the trip and saw the talent show on the last night, my husband was the one who sang and played the guitar. The song he sang is a favorite of mine that he sung to me when we first started dating. We are happy that he made it home in time for the visitation and funeral and that he managed to entertain everyone else. We will be on a future cruise, just having a hard time deciding if it will be Eastern or Western and when. Thanks again everyone. It's great to have all the support.

Tracy

Hi Tracy. We wondered why we didn't see you the rest of the trip, we were on the St. Thomas snorkeling excursion with you (Kevin, Diana, & Alicia). So sorry to hear about your Father. Diana

Tracy,

I saw your hubby at later events but not you, but didn't realize something was up. I'm so sorry for the loss of your father, and hope you have many happy memories of times together with him.

Take care,
amy

Tracy, my sincere condolences on the loss of your father. :(

I'm not at all surprised by what DCL did for you and thank you for sharing your story. I hope you are able to cruise again soon and that you carry wonderful memories of your father with you.

Tracy, I'm so sorry to hear this. We looked for you later, now I know why to no avail. Strange, Brad, my DH, was the winner of the book and tee cup. Bill could have joined us for solace and support.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. It sounds like you had the travel insurance. I am wondering how far into the cruise you had gotten before you had to leave? Will the insurance credit you back for at least part of your cost of the cruise. That would at least help out when taking the next one.

So very sorry about your Dad. Your message to him was so touching.....{{{hugs}}}}.....I needed a good cry. My Dad is very ill and every time I see him I remind him how much I love him. One never knows what tomorrow will bring ^i^
