Just back - Cypress Pointe

We stayed at CPGV in November and they looked at our parking permit before we drove into the parking lot. Everything in our unit looked brand new, and while CP and CPGV have more of an apartment complex feel to them rather than a resort feel, both places are a very good value for the money, plus so close to Downtown Disney.

We stayed in CP in June and enjoyed our stay there. We rented 3br through hotel kingdom and for the price thought it was great. Everything was well maintained and we saw security personnel around the resort.

We did their timeshare presentation and we inquired as to their ratings, etc. and were told that they recently "lost a star" but were trying to regain it with new management, or something like that. They also were emphasizing to us that they were "sunterra", and were not happy with "RCI" and none of it made sense to us, we werent buying anyway, but there did appear to be some emphasis placed on the fact that they were going to be "doing more landscaping, etc.", to get back to where they had been. They were definately not speaking highly of RCI and were putting alot of emphasis into Sunterra.

This place is definately worth staying at if you get a good price. We paid 90 bucks a night for a 3 br through hotelkingdom. For that price, you are more than getting your moneys worth. For our family though, it would not be worth lets say 150 a night and we wouldnt call it first class either. But, it is definately a nice place to stay, and we felt safe staying there.

I didnt mention the security that walks around because some seemed fixated on security at the gate. Of course I worry more about those who sneak in without a car and are up to no good and the security that walks around would probably catch or deter those..I actually think the way it is done is much safer (and so does my husband who is a police officer)

Well just so you know, security is VERY visiable at the resorts which I have stayed at both on foot AND at the gate (Vistana Village and Marriott). As I said before and I will say again, I totally realize that NONE of the security that has been mentioned is going to stop a criminal however at the other resorts it is clearly in plain sight which at least sends a message that somone is watching. We went in to CP with no one stopping us. We walked around and even went into a couple of the buildings (not rooms just outside) just to get a feel for the place. We have never been able enter resorts with a gate unless we had proof we were staying there.

Again to each his own but I will reiterate these condos are nice BUT as the OP said they are NOT top shelf, that was her original opinoin after having just stayed there. I agree both from my own investigation and the report of my best friend who also stayed there. As I said to each his own. If I HAD to stay there I would but it would NOT be my first choice. We are not talking about a place like the Gator Motel but we are talking about a matter of degrees.

If I am not mistaken Sunterra is the same company that operates Liki Tiki and there is no way in this lifetime I would ever go there again.

You ARE mistaken. Sunterra does not own Liki Tiki and Like Tiki is only rated 7. something on TUG. MUCH lower then many of the others in the area. Not even a close comparison
