We arrived at CSR Monday, December 10 at about 11:00 AM. I had requested either cabanas 9b or casitas 1. We were assigned a room in 7a ranchos  . I politely requested a room close to a bus stop since we were traveling with 2 children and no car. The cast member was kind enough to locate a room in 8b cabanas that would be available after 3:00.

We were assigned room 8520-a ground level room with a parking lot view, but we loved  it!!!! We were so close to the bus stop that we could see it from our room!! The cabanas quiet pool was nearby .... the dig site and feature pool were even closer!

Last year we had stayed in casitas 1 on the upper floor- we had a beautiful view, but a longer walk to the bus and main pool. While the casitas are much prettier, I definitely prefer the convenience of the cabanas. The pool slide was open- I checked with both the concierge and a lifeguard at the pool, they were unaware of any rehab on the slide. They said there were going to be some updates to the playground at the dig site, but no closures.

The bus service was EXCELLENT. We traveled on mostly empty buses, there were at least three times that we were the only people on the bus. I think my husband had to stand only once on a morning bus (it was Saturday, about 8:30 am) and twice coming from the parks after parades and fireworks. The CSR bus stops are sooo close to the park exits. Can't say enough great things about the transportation!

We enjoyed the Pepper Market. The ladies at the bakery (Pat and Sheila)are a riot! We did not try the Maya Grill or check out the new night club. We got the prepacked sandwich lunches from Cafe Rix to bring to the airport on our last day. The sandwiches were delicious! We were on the dining plan, so the prices and the 10% service charge didn't impact us. The actual cost of 4 counter service meals at the Pepper Market with drinks and dessert was about $60, the cost of 4 boxed lunches with drinks and desserts (from Cafe Rix) was over $50!!! Something to consider if you're NOT on DDP!

During our stay, there was a Salsa Dance competition and at least a couple of conventions. There were no problems with noise and no issues with the convention people. As other people have mentioned, this resort almost has a deserted feel as you're walking the grounds- it's very peaceful. Oddly enough, though, the hammocks in the cabanas section were always occupied.:confused3

We visited the pool 3 times. The slide is lots of fun, even DH and I (both 40 something)went down a few times.

I'll attempt to post pictures later.

Happy Holidays Buzz2001 :wave2: and all my fellow CSR fans!!:santa:

Thanks for the review. I'd love to see some pics, I'm going in Feb to CSR. I requested cabanas 9B, as it is close to the main building. You think the casitas are better looking? From pics, the ranchos look the best, then cabanas. Too bad the ranchos are so far out there.

Glad you had a great stay. CSR is one of the resorts we're looking at for our next trip - along w/3 others:goodvibes. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Thanks for your review.

You're welcome. I'm sure it's just a matter of personal preference, but the casitas have lots of fountains and courtyards and they are sooo beautiful at night!! I'm still working on posting some pictures, but I know Buzz's website has some great ones.

ETA-Pictures!

I really wish CSR would make Cabana 9B a preferred room location. I'd be willing to pay a bit more (like at CBR and values) to get a preferred room. So many people request this building and many are disappointed when they don't get it. It really would be nice to book and pay for the location you desire.

PS: Great review!

Glad you had a nice trip!

I have stayed in the Cabanas and am hoping to try the Casitas one day soon!

I agree. It seems that some of the casitas and 9B are quite close, I wouldn't mind paying extra (I was going to at POP). If I don't get 9B or the other really close cabana, I'm going to try the casitas. If it was just me and a friend, I'd stay at the ranchos, I think they look great. I think my grandparents would appreciate the closest location though! I do agree, Casitas look great at night with the fountains, but otherwise I just don't like their look for some reason. It's nice that CSR has so many fun choices. Thanks for some photos buffalogirl!

How were the crowd levels in the parks? We are thinking of going about the same time next year.

Welcome back! Glad you had a great time!

CSR is great, especially if you plan on using Disney transportation!!

I agree, I would pay extra to reserve a 9B room.:thumbsup2

Glad you had a nice trip!

We could see fireworks from the upper floor of Casitas 1 last year. The casitas are especially beautiful at night. I hope you do get a chance to try the casitas.:goodvibes

P.S. This is my 500th post!!:yay:

How were the crowd levels in the parks? We are thinking of going about the same time next year.

We found the crowd levels pretty low. We hit the parks early and took afternoon breaks. We were able to walk on many of our favorites. We did experience huge crowds at MGM on Dec 10th (Monday night). We went to see Fantasmic and the Osbourne lights. The crowds looked like a Saturday night!!
I believe Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party ended up selling out for all the dates during our trip. We did not attend MVMCP this year. We went last year and thought it was just ok- most people love it though.

Glad you had a great trip!! Couple questions, were the internal golf cart shuttles still going around the resort picking up people?? THey had them when we were there in August and it was a wonderful perk to the resort. Also did you get food from the new grab and go area, I think next to the new night club?? Just wondering how extensive their menu is??
