Our Happy day finally arrived ---the CM smiled-spoke those wonderful words--WELCOME HOME-- we were handed the keys to our GV and told "everything is as you requested---one story non smoking GV". Since the GV was not ready---it was 1:30pm--we dashed off to Spoodles for lunch. The CM suggested we return around 3:30PM to obtain our Room number. At 3:40PM, my Husband returned for the room number and the fiasco started. The CM pulled up our record in the computer, said "hold on a minute" and after 20 minutes returned back to my Husband and gave him all new keys! We and all our guests turned in our baggage claims and off we went. Now we can't wait--the big moment is almost here----get off the elevator--walk down the long hall and are met , in front of our GV, by housekeeping--saying "where did you get those keys--this room isn't ready--you CAN't enter". How embarassed my husband and I were in front of my guests! Now standing in the hall, waiting for our baggage, I looked in and saw it is a 2 story GV not the one we were promised. Oh well--at least we are in a GC--or so we thought! After quite a while, my husband went in and asked housekeeping if they could call and see if another GV was ready since this one wasn't! Housekeeping spoke to someone and then my husband got on the phone to find out the story. Said we could wait--nothing else was available. My husband asked about the 1 story we were promised and was told "we will change you tomorrow". SO, we all stood on the balcony while the room was cleaned---our baggage sat in the hall and I was fuming! The front desk called back and said we will call you back shortly and let you know IF we can move you tomorrow. Well, as of 8PM we still had no call--so I told everyone to unpack this is Home! We went to Dinner came back and found a Voice Mail (received at 10:16pm) saying if we still wanted to move in the AM call tomorrow prior to 10am. Since we were all unpacked, I figured I would call in the AM and tell them no thanks. Received a Voice MAil at 6:37am and was told to call by 10am or we would not be allowed to move. My husband called at 8:30am and was told (by the Manager) who got on the phone "that we had to move" our GV was scheduled for Construction on Monday". My husband questioned how they could schedule a GV for construction that was reserved for 5 nights and he didn't know! The Manager said that since we spoke to the other Manager and requested a change that we "HAD" to move. Funny, we never spoke to a manager. When my Husband repsonded that we never spoke to a manager, the response was "we could play he said she said all day". After that lovely statement--the Manager said he would check with the other manager concerning this situation and would call back in a few minutes! My Husband left to show a few of our guests where the bus stop was and after 30 minutes--I became annoyed and called the manager back. He said he had to apologize to my husband---acknowledged that we never spoke to a manager and this was a misunderstanding on his part--he assumed the other manager was spoken to! The manager said he would search the bus stop to find my husband to speak to him.
I have never been treated in such a way by any CM nor have had such problems with DVC (members since 1992).
We had Trash and tidy 1 day early then they cleaned our GV on Monday and Tuesday and billed us $240.00 for housekeeping--another call with the manager to take care of that problem!

Sorry this is so long---but it was a long story!

Gosh - that is terrible! I don't understand how the managers think they can get away with such behavior. We have never been treated poorly but if I had been, I would certainly raise a big fuss. We have paid too much for that kind of a hassle on vacation. Sorry you had to go through all that you did - and I sure hope to hear they made it up to you somehow!!!

I feel for you. It's bad enough when things don't go well in a regular villa but when you're treating others to your fabulous GV major slip-ups multiply. The only good news is that the manager did admit when he found out he was wrong. (Doesn't it sound like maybe they gave your GV to someone else? That's what would have had me standing in the lobby screaming and making a fool of myself.)

I agree with Pam, it sure sounds like they made a big mistake and gave your GV to someone else and then gave you a hard time about it. Like Pam, I would have been in that lobby and I would have had more than (1) manager or CM fixing their mistake. Sorry you had such a bad time of it - hope you and your friends had some fun, I sure hope you didn't let this ruin your vacation.

Ack! This sounds like a nightmare I had a few weeks ago....

Sorry to hear about it. Sounds like BWV really needs a change in management!

The probably gave someone an upgrade from a studio!

It was thier problem, not yours. They should really treat their owners better. These kinds of things are what is making it hard to take the plunge and buy DVC.

Sounds similar to a problem with BWV front desk I had a few weeks ago. No apology, just that "there was a misunderstanding and unfortunately you were caught in the middle". And nothing to compensate for our aggravation and lost time.

A few years ago at OKW, our door keys wouldn't work after a few days. My DH went to front desk to get maintence who came almost right away (in the meantime, though, housekeeping saw the rest of us waiting outside door and her key worked so we got in room just after husband left). Front desk called after maintenance left to check on things and asked our whole group to Olivia's for supper that night on them.

Is this level of service still at OKW? If so, that's quite a difference from resort to resort.

I am going to VWL in May although "home" is the BWV, I think I will be Jack Lemmon (the OUT OF TOWNERS) and take a little notebook for NAMES. I'm starting to get a little ticked at these CM's at "home" and I haven't had a problem so far.... ;)

When you wish upon a star...DVC will take you far...anything your heart desires....will come your way

Just being nosey. How many points did you use on this vacation? A GV for 5 nights in April. It had to be a lot. Man, I would have pitched a fit.

I wonder if this manager is the same one who had that poor family in his office after being kicked out of the pool?

I used 584 points---we stayed 5 nights 3/30 -4/4.
Don't get me wrong---we have been members of DVC since 1992 and have LOVED every visit and all the great family times we have had there! This was just a very frustrating experience --needless to say we are looking forward to our next DVC visit!

You should write a letter to the DVC managment and tell them about your problem and how it made an otherwise great vacation not so memorable.
We had a problem a couple of years ago and my sister wrote to them, and to make up for it they sent her 8 park hoppers. It doesn't hurt to try.
