Hi everyone! Just back from our stay at the BWV and VB. I managed to post some info about VB and our "incident" with the break-in. So for this post, I will just briefly share our experience at the BWV. I LOVED it!! It was our first trip their as DVC members and it was terrific! We stayed in a studio preferred view of the boardwalk. Our room was clean and spacious....it was just DH and me. Check in was a breeze--we drove in from VB early and we checked our bags at 9am. Our room was ready at 1pm. We ate at Spoodles our first day and it was GREAT. We spent the majority of time at the quiet pool and it was my favorite!! It was practically empty and very relaxing.

I found the entire staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. We were "welcomed home" and I loved that part.

We had those delish napoleons at the Boardwalk Bakery and I was in HEAVEN!!! I didn't know that the food was soooo good out there. ;)

Just a little off the DVC topic, but DH and I managed to ride the new "aladdin" ride at the MK. It was THE BEST! Kinda like dumbo as faras rides go, but for an aladdin freak like me, it was a dream come true. I think I used a whole roll of film just for that ride! LOL!!! I must have bought out the entire store too.

DH and I managed to visit the DVC office and say hello/meet our guide, Julie Hughes. She was SOOOO nice! It was great to meet her in person and she gave us a tour of the other vacation homes and I LOVED the one bedroom with the tub. I know where we'll be staying next time! And we also got some cotton candy and taffy. It was so fun. I just love being home.

Does anyone have specific questions? I didn't want to bore anyone to death with details!!!

;)

hi: glad you had a great time. don't you just love being able to walk to epcot and mgm from bw?

She is our guide, too. We will be going home for the first time in 18 days and I'm so excited!
Thanks for posting about your trip!
:smooth:

Oh I wanna go home!! can't wait till August...
Welcome back.
:bounce:

Where did you post about the "break in"? I would like to read about it. Thanks. Hope things turned out okay.

We also are just back from a weekend at BWV. It was our first DVC stay and we loved it. Our kids loved the pool and my son could not stay off the slide. The only bad thing about our visit was the bus transportation. It was awful. I had read other posts about BW's buses, but I didn't think it would be that bad. One evening we waited 45 minutes for a bus to MK. The next morning was early entry. We arrived at the bus stop at 6:50 a.m. and a bus didn't come until 7:20 and it was full. Only about a handful of people could get on. Another bus was called and came at 7:30. We have reservations for VWL in January and considered switching to BWV for half the time, but now we will just stay at VWL. Since our kids mostly want to go to MK, then it doesn't make sense for us to spend so much time using the buses. Overall, we had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer.

disneyokw...hi! I posted about the break in under the DVC board somewhere with the title "Quick Post-VB Break-in" or something close to that...I don't think it's too far down this board. Hope that helps!

Be careful what you wish for ;) Our home is the BW also and I switched to WL, the only good transportation was to MK, the rest is horrible. My DH said he is forever grateful now for what we have. It took over an hour one nite to go to DTD to get an icecream. Hubby kept saying if we were "home" we'd only have to go down the elevator  And it took over 1 1/2 hrs (no exageration) to get back to the VWL from Downtown Disney that nite.

Welcome Back!

We just got back today from BWV too. It was are first trip there and we loved it. My DD loved the slide there as well GCM13.

We had an awsome view of the boardwalk and Epcot Fireworks, but wow what a walk from the elevator to our room. I had heard complaints on the board before and thought it was just people whining a bit, but I was wrong.

I counted 5 hallways we had to treverse to get to our room, the last one 4001.

All in all the place is awsome and I would be psyched to get the same room when we go back in November.

I have one question, why do they deliver packages (from Park purchases) to the Charecter Carnival instead of the front Desk?

When we were at the BWV's in September they delivered twice to our villa, but at VWL I got a message on my phone to pickup package at the shop also. I wonder if things have changed lately?

I'm glad to hear that BWV's were great. We are planning a trip in September and have never stayed there before. We have a booked a studio preferred view. I would like to make a room request, preferably one with a great view but not to far from the elevators.
We will be spending some of the evenings on the balcony as we have a 6 year old who will crash. Any suggestions?

We found out (after not receiving our package) that the policy changed on the 21st of May. They no longer deliver to your room, all packages are delivered to a central location at your resort and you have to go pick them up. For the BW, the location is the Character Carnival. Don't know what the specific reason for this was, but I surmise they were having problems with folks saying the packages never got there.

Just wanted to add how I found it interesting to actually see and experience what people were discussing here like the long hallways, bus transportation, etc. I, too, was surprised at how far some of the rooms were from the elevators. We were in 3046 (1 bedroom preferred) which wasn't too bad, but one day I walked to the end of the hallway, and it was pretty far. We had a view of Luna Park, but it was mostly blocked by trees. If anyone wants a good view of the pool, request a higher floor.

brittsmum, you are probably right about the transportation. Actually, it is probably OK that we'll just have good transportation to the MK from VWL because my son didn't want to go to MGM and when we were at Epcot, they just wanted to go to MK. The only other park that the kids (my son especially) wanted to go to was AK, but husband didn't want to (can't make everyone happy!). Hopefully the transportation won't be too bad to AK. I'm starting to think that the deluxe resorts have great locations to one or two parks, but if you want to go anywhere else, it is terrible. We never had a problem when we stayed at the Caribbean Beach.

Another thing we experienced that we heard about was the noise. Although it didn't really bother us too much since we were so tired, we could hear a fair amount of noise at night and we weren't even on the boardwalk side. The noise was coming from the pool and from fireworks from MGM, I believe. The parks were open later this weekend, so if it was the off season, we probably wouldn't have had as much noise.

leaving for BWV soon and glad you had a good time. I am hoping the busses to MK are timely, though. I'll post how our trip was when we return.

Hi RIma!!!
glad to hear you had an awesome time!!!!!!!! :)
I knew you would love the BWV!!!
we spent lots of time at the quiet pool too, and nothing quite like a late night soak in the hot tub!!! :)

I totally agree about the BW bakery! the napoleans are fabulous!! (but have you tried the one's from France's bakery?? even better if you can believe that!!!)
we really enjoyed Spoodles too!! we had brkfst and dinner there! both were excellent!!!
Did you get to go to ESPN?? I remember you asking about that!

we found the staff to be great also!!!
What floor were you on?? So, you got lucky w/a BW view too, huh???!!! could you see spaceship earth??

Just how many times did you ride the Aladdin ride??? you must have loved that! I can't wait to go on it myself!!! dh and I love Aladdin too, have I told you that "Whole New World" was our wedding song??? :)
were the lines really long for that ride???
I'm definately going on it in July!!!

Welcome back! start counting down til the next trip!!!
Is it GF concierge???

mine is YC concierge, just 48 more days!!!

while you were away, I had a spell of insanity and booked another trip!!! labor day weekend (just 3 nights) at the Polynesian!!! I couldn't resist! I got a great AP rate, and after our stay there this month, I just had to get back to the Poly soon!!!
so now I have 4 nights at the YCconcierge in July. 3 nights at the Poly in Sept., and then 8 nights at BWV in October!!! what a WDW year!!! :)
I'm so psyched though!!! it's the best!!!

I see you have a few trips planned yourself!!! ;)
I remember after your honeymoon you said you wouldn't be able to get back there til Nov.2002,!!! now you have a few trips planned before that!!! and you ask me how I do it!!! the same way you do! where there's a will, there's a way!!! :) right!!

with us both going so frequently, we are bound to meet up again sometime!!!!
(my e-mail at work isn't working right now, if you want to e-mail me, send it to my home! :)

Laura :)

Hey Laura!! It's great to hear from you. Your post cracked me up!! :D Yes, it was just wonderful. It almost seems like we had the same likes/dislikes on everything! I do remember asking you "how do you manage to go so often?!" And yes! I now see why. You were so sweet and helpful telling me all about DVC and I am so glad that we joined!! It was the best thing we ever did.

Yes, we did go to the ESPN club and I think that was DH's favorite!! He loved the tvs and had a chance to watch basketball playoffs. I don't get into sports TOO much but he was like a child in a candy store so we stayed for a while and I just munched all night!!

We were on the third floor towards the boardwalk with a full perfect view of Spaceship earth. We managed to watch fireworks a few nights just from our balcony. That was soooo neat!

Oh my gosh, Laura the aladdin ride was AWESOME for me. It was such a big deal. I actually only rode it 2 times per MK visit!! I KNOW! You'd think I would want to ride over and over but you know with DVC, I will be back soon enough! LOL!;) Nope, line wasn't long...most times it was only 10 or 15 minutes MAX. AND WOW!! Guess what! My wedding song was "a whole new world" TOO!!!! I can't believe it...it's almost kinda wierd!!! But good! Who would have known huh?!!!

YES!!! I am SOOOOO excited for our next trip to the GF!! I kinda missed it....I still haven't gotten my fill of it yet. I am thinking of doing another trip to VWL too. I just want to try everything...and now that you have talked about the Poly, maybe we'll add on a few days there too. It would be nice to see it all. And wow, you have a lot of trips planned too!! Isn't that great? We are very lucky to be able to go!

Okay cool...I have your home email saved so I know how to reach you. We will have to plan on meeting down at Spoodles next time we are both there. As much as I love Park Fare, it was kinda too noisy last time and I think I like spoodles more now.

Talk to you soon okay?! :D :D :D

this is way too crazy!!!!!!!!
we were a little disappointed w/Park Fare too last time!!! and we both used to rave about it!!! LOL!
It's gotten scratched off our "must do" list !!!
the atmosphere, and the food slipped!

we also loved Spoodles, so yes that's a perfect new choice!!! :)

we are so into trying different resorts!! It is so much fun! I can see after only one time at the GF, how you would still be having withdrawals (LOL!) I didn't get my fill until after 4 times!!! and we will still return there definately, but after we do some more exploring!!! :)

oh, by all means, if you can definately try the Poly! you will absolutely LOVE it!!!! :)

I cannot believe that about our wedding song! that is such a coincidence!!!!!!!!!! :)

talk to ya later! my e-mail is linked to my profile too, so you can get me that way also!!! :)

Laura :)
