We just got back from a 9 day visit w/a BW view (directly over Big River). Checked in Sun the 1st & out on the 10th. We could see fireworks from Epcot from our 3rd floor view. Took 3 yr old & 3 month old & while I had been a little concerned about noise, it turned out to not be a problem. Maybe summers are different when the boardwalk is really busy late into the night but we didn't mind & enjoyed the view thoroughly.

btw...it's not our home resort & I got it at 7 months out! Guess it didn't hurt that we were staying a weekend. It was a studio (had a door for a 2 bdrm). I guess this makes up for the 11 mth booking at VWL iwe had the week after thanksgiving in which we got the DUMPSTER VIEW!. You just never know.

It was a low key & very different trip for us w/the 2 girls. The tall 3 yr old loved Soarin. Glad to answer any questions.

Sounds great. That is our favorite DVC view and location of all. Wish we had points there but have BW View 2 times. Glad you had a good experience.

I know that many folks love BWV for the low-points standard view rooms, but I LOVE the BW view, like you. Glad you had a good time. The low key trips are the best, IMHO.

Glad to read you had a good time and such great accomodations. We had almost the exact same location last month in 5011 & 5013 which are the last units with "red" siding on them. Just super is all I can say. Besides of course I want to go back.

We've been in the next door unit a couple of times, 5015/5017, and love the location and view. Love sitting out there in the moring and watching things start to come to life.

Oh yeah, the daytime view is only equalled by the nitetime view. The evening photos we took are just stunning.

Funny story, we took a couple of our children's friends with us. The first day we were out on the balcony and I remarked that I couldn't imagine how it could get any better than this. The 11 y.o. quips back, "heck I didn't know it could get this good".

Is the BW view a "preferred view" or "standard view" room?

BW has three different view requets. Standard which is the lowest point usage and overlooks the entrance drive. The Preferred view and Boardwalk views are two different request types but both have the same point usage. Boardwalk view's supposed to guarentee you a view of the Boardwalk while preferred is everything else that's not a standard view. This was changed a while ago because folks were upset that they book at 10/11 months out, ask for a Boardwalk View and got a view of the pool or canal. Now you ask for Boardwalk View you're told right away if it's available or not.

Oh, I only booked a standard view. Do you know if there is any chance that people can get upgraded in late September?

If you're talking about using standard view points and having the front desk put you in a boardwalk view for the same points I'd really doubt it. It it's that important to you I'd recommend seeing if the view is still available and upgrading your request.

Boardwalk is our home and our very first visit in 2000 we had a Boardwalk view and loved it. This June we are going back and have a Boardwalk view reserved. I'm really looking forward to it.
