Hi everyone!

We just returned on Sunday from our 11 day stay at the World. It was too hard for me to hop back on the boards to post the first few days back, but I’m working to get over the sadness by posting and planning our next trip!!

We stayed from May 21-31. Did 3 days at the WL and the rest of the stay at the Poly. We have stayed at the WL before but this was our first time at the Poly. We totally fell in love with it and will be going back!!!! :lovestruc

I will just post a few highlights. I do intend to do a full trip report but not sure when. I took just under 1800 pictures and want to sort through those before I do the report.

Weather- We arrived at the tail end of the nasty rain pattern that came through. We had rain every day with the exception of last Saturday. The rain did not affect anything for us. When we saw the clouds roll in, we made sure to head inside somewhere, either to eat or watch a show. Worked perfectly. The nights that there was rain late happened to be nights that we were back at the hotel, so we lucked out that way. When it was sunny, it was hot, so the rain was welcomed by us!

Resorts- VERY disappointed with Mousekeeping at both resorts. The balconies were so gross, but I looked past that because I know the maids do not have the time to clean them. However, the rooms were not clean when we arrived. The Poly was the worst. The floor hadn’t been vacuumed because there was stuff all over it, including lots of dropped food. The mirrors and floor in the bathroom had spots all over them, and the sink had some mystery spill it in. Kleenex box was empty and there was half a roll of toilet paper. :eek:I called the housekeeping manager immediately. She offered to move us right away. I told her that wasn’t necessary, but insisted the room receive an incredibly through cleaning the next day and for the remainder of our stay. She followed through, because the room was fine the rest of our stay. Still, I wasn’t happy about walking into a filthy room, especially at the Poly.

Parks- Crowds were high but manageable. We did rope drop quite a few mornings, which helped. We did not wait longer than 20 minutes anywhere. Waited 10 minutes for Toy Story Mania, 5 for Tower of Terror and 10 for the Fairies. We accomplished what we set out to do at each park, which was a big accomplishment for us- our kids are 8 months, 4 and 7, and they were troopers. We are all exhausted now that we are home, but it was worth it! Other guests were the most friendly we’ve ever seen. Didn’t run into one single Grumpy. Everyone was nice, helpful and talkative. Made the trip very enjoyable.

Food- We did the Dining Plan for the first time and didn’t have any problems with it. Used up all of the snack credits and ended up buying a lot out of pocket as well. That’s what happens when your kids get 3 Mickey bars and 3 popcorns every day! :laughing:We ate at a lot of our favorites- Boma, T-Rex, O’Hana’s for breakfast and dinner, Crystal Palace, Cindy’s for breakfast, Artist Point- and enjoyed all of the meals We did have one bad server, Mary Jo, at the O’Hana breakfast. Wow, she needs to get a new job, because she is in the wrong field! My baby accidentally kicked my coffee over onto the table as I was picking her up to meet a character. My husband let Mary Jo know and asked for some towels to clean it up, and she replied with a sarcastic, “Oh, that’s fantastic.” He couldn’t believe it! She was rude the entire meal. On the flip side, we had Cliff and Cathy at the O’Hana dinner, and they were absolutely wonderful. Immediately after our meal, I walked down to the front desk and filled out an outstanding service card on the both of them. I told the cast member there to make sure their manager knew what a great job they were doing. Also ran into a great cast member at Liberty Inn at Epcot. She helped us find a table during the lunch rush, cleared the way for our double stroller to get to it and scrubbed the table clean before we sat down. I watched her throughout our meal, and she was busting her butt the entire time. When I finished eating, I asked to have the manger come out so I could tell him how she helped us and how hard she was working. He was very appreciative that I took the time to let him know, but I was so impressed with her that I didn’t want her hard work to go unnoticed. My daughter celebrated her 7th b-day and got lots of wonderful attention for it, along with great desserts at every meal. She felt so special! :cloud9:

As usual, Disney did not disappoint, and we will start planning another trip (even if those park tickets get up to $100). There’s no place like the World!!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the report!

And next time I am going with you and all those snacks!!!! :scared1:

Thanks for your report! So glad you guys had a great time too. I always also send an email to guest relations (for the life of me I can't find the email address right now though) and send an email about all the fabulous CMs I encounter. I always get a phone call back from Disney saying thank you and that each CM has had a note put in their file. These guys work hard!

I will definitely have to do that then. It makes such a huge difference when they go out of their way. My DD4 only wanted noodles with butter at pretty much every sit down meal we went to. The cast members always did what they could to make sure she got what she needed and never seemed put out by the request. At Cape May, we ended up missing Minnie in her rotation (she must have gone on break and forgot about us), so our waitress made sure to have Minnie come to our table to present our daughter with her birthday cupcake, sing Happy Birthday to her and gave her a sign card from all of the characters. In my opinion, that's outstanding service, and the managers need to know.

Glad you all had a great trip! Thanks for the tip about outstanding service cards. I so often forget CM names if I don't act immediately. I wonder if such a thing is available in the parks also.

Not sure about the parks, but the resorts definitely have them. The CM that I talked with told me that those cards are put into a monthly prize drawing, so the CM's have a chance at being rewarded from that, too.

Thanks for the wonderful report! I'm surprised to hear about your room at the Poly upon arriving. Totally unacceptable!

Thanks for the nice trip report! Glad everyone had a good time! :goodvibes Can't believe that the room wasn't clean at the Poly! That's unacceptable. Glad they kept it clean for the remainder of your trip.

Thanks for the report! We were at WL last December and then again this May. Mousekeeping was fantastic in December, but we too we were very disappointed the first half of the week this May. The first half our trip the room was not really clean and there were no towel animals for my 3 year old- they even skipped our room completely one day- Not fun coming back from the hot parks to unmade beds and no towels to take a shower. They left a message on our phone saying they didn't clean our room because we had our privacy sign out-- it was certainly on the inside of our door when we came back with nothing on the outside, so unless some kids were playing a joke and put a sign from another room on our door for a while and removed it, that was not true. The second half of the week was great, and I'm guessing it was a different CM on duty. I agree the balcony was filthy this May, and not exactly clean in December. I know they are hard to keep clean because they are outside, but we at least shouldn't have to pick up trash that other guests left behind.

Since you stayed at both the WL and Poly on the same trip can you answer some questions for me? We booked a bounceback for the Poly because they did not have any WL rooms except for bunk beds available. We've never stayed at the Poly. We are debating keeping the Poly, or continuing to call to see if something opens up at WL. Which did you prefer and why? Was there anything about WL you missed while at the Poly? Were there any downsides to the Poly? Maybe the pros and cons of each? Any insight you could give me at all would be great!!!
