Hi everyone!
We just returned on Sunday from our 11 day stay at the World. It was too hard for me to hop back on the boards to post the first few days back, but Im working to get over the sadness by posting and planning our next trip!!
We stayed from May 21-31. Did 3 days at the WL and the rest of the stay at the Poly. We have stayed at the WL before but this was our first time at the Poly. We totally fell in love with it and will be going back!!!!
I will just post a few highlights. I do intend to do a full trip report but not sure when. I took just under 1800 pictures and want to sort through those before I do the report.
Weather- We arrived at the tail end of the nasty rain pattern that came through. We had rain every day with the exception of last Saturday. The rain did not affect anything for us. When we saw the clouds roll in, we made sure to head inside somewhere, either to eat or watch a show. Worked perfectly. The nights that there was rain late happened to be nights that we were back at the hotel, so we lucked out that way. When it was sunny, it was hot, so the rain was welcomed by us!
Resorts- VERY disappointed with Mousekeeping at both resorts. The balconies were so gross, but I looked past that because I know the maids do not have the time to clean them. However, the rooms were not clean when we arrived. The Poly was the worst. The floor hadnt been vacuumed because there was stuff all over it, including lots of dropped food. The mirrors and floor in the bathroom had spots all over them, and the sink had some mystery spill it in. Kleenex box was empty and there was half a roll of toilet paper.
I called the housekeeping manager immediately. She offered to move us right away. I told her that wasnt necessary, but insisted the room receive an incredibly through cleaning the next day and for the remainder of our stay. She followed through, because the room was fine the rest of our stay. Still, I wasnt happy about walking into a filthy room, especially at the Poly.
Parks- Crowds were high but manageable. We did rope drop quite a few mornings, which helped. We did not wait longer than 20 minutes anywhere. Waited 10 minutes for Toy Story Mania, 5 for Tower of Terror and 10 for the Fairies. We accomplished what we set out to do at each park, which was a big accomplishment for us- our kids are 8 months, 4 and 7, and they were troopers. We are all exhausted now that we are home, but it was worth it! Other guests were the most friendly weve ever seen. Didnt run into one single Grumpy. Everyone was nice, helpful and talkative. Made the trip very enjoyable.
Food- We did the Dining Plan for the first time and didnt have any problems with it. Used up all of the snack credits and ended up buying a lot out of pocket as well. Thats what happens when your kids get 3 Mickey bars and 3 popcorns every day!
We ate at a lot of our favorites- Boma, T-Rex, OHanas for breakfast and dinner, Crystal Palace, Cindys for breakfast, Artist Point- and enjoyed all of the meals We did have one bad server, Mary Jo, at the OHana breakfast. Wow, she needs to get a new job, because she is in the wrong field! My baby accidentally kicked my coffee over onto the table as I was picking her up to meet a character. My husband let Mary Jo know and asked for some towels to clean it up, and she replied with a sarcastic, Oh, thats fantastic. He couldnt believe it! She was rude the entire meal. On the flip side, we had Cliff and Cathy at the OHana dinner, and they were absolutely wonderful. Immediately after our meal, I walked down to the front desk and filled out an outstanding service card on the both of them. I told the cast member there to make sure their manager knew what a great job they were doing. Also ran into a great cast member at Liberty Inn at Epcot. She helped us find a table during the lunch rush, cleared the way for our double stroller to get to it and scrubbed the table clean before we sat down. I watched her throughout our meal, and she was busting her butt the entire time. When I finished eating, I asked to have the manger come out so I could tell him how she helped us and how hard she was working. He was very appreciative that I took the time to let him know, but I was so impressed with her that I didnt want her hard work to go unnoticed. My daughter celebrated her 7th b-day and got lots of wonderful attention for it, along with great desserts at every meal. She felt so special!
As usual, Disney did not disappoint, and we will start planning another trip (even if those park tickets get up to $100). Theres no place like the World!!
