First stay at BCV, everything was perfect as far as DVC, and the CM's were all just terrific at BCV. We did notice the air conditioner difference but was not a hugh problem even as hot and humid as it was. Also we did notice the hugh difference in water pressure in the shower. For DH he was very disappointed as he loves his Disney showers. We have very low pressure at home and it was something DH looks forward to. Did not ruin or dampen our vacation, just something we missed. We had a studio and a 2-br reserved. The studio was ready at 10 or 11 when we arrived and 9 of us "lived" in that till 4pm when we could get the other room. Asked for top floor ns, we got 2nd floor ns, no disappointments as we had a good view of the fireworks just the same. Our rooms were close but still a distance between.
One plus we noticed was the nice tile on the balconies, BWV and VWL both just have plain slab cement. The bathroom sink area has a thin shelf by the mirror but there are no drawers at all. Also, no drawers in the kitchen area, albeit a little disappointing esp. when you get spoiled at another resort that does. The toilet and shower room is larger than BWV and VWL and is a nice plus. There is also a crank timer for the bathroom fan opposed to the usual switch. Not sure how this can be energy efficient. I always cranked it and left it when done and it kept going. The other type with a switch, you just turn it off with the light. Not sure how the crank can be better.
We used the grills one night. Anyone who saw a whole tray of hugh steaks go by, that was us. My BIL said he got some interesting comments. I said he should have sold them and we could have eaten out.
We were lucky(not really) to be able to get into Mission Space as they were holding some previews one day. DH and I had just eaten and although that made it worse, both of us agree, we will never do this ride again, ever. I am the adventurous of the two and go on all the rides, and found this attraction very intense and have serious reservations on the safety of this ride. DH was sick for 2 days after.
I'm sure I will think of more but after driving 28 hours straight to get home my brain wants sleep. Any questions please ask away.

Thanks for all the great info on the BCV. I just joined the DVC and gifted our first year's points to our DS, DIL and 2 beautiful D-grandbabies. They will be staying at the BCV in November. Do all of the BCV have a water pressure problem to your knowledge? Thanks for the heads up on the Space ride. I have read a lot of negative reports about people getting very sick on the ride. Two days sick is a terrible waste of WDW vacation time. Your overall report about the BCV sounded very positive so I am sure my son's family will really enjoy it. Are the units very soundproof? Thanks again.

Can you tell me about this attraction? I am really interested in it. I have read some articles about it. To they really simulate being in space? When does it open? It is a regular attraction, or will it have an extra cost?

About the kitchen not having any drawers? Do you mean the studio kitchen area? I would hope the 2 bedroom kitchen has drawers for utensils. No?

Where did you drive from? How was the drive? We are driving for MA in November, I have 3 small kids and I am praying that the DVD player and video game hook-up will be a lifesaver.

Disney1fan2002,

Do you have a DVD player for the car?

We purchased a portable DVD player before our last trip to Florida.

ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES I HAVE EVER MADE

They were quiet as mice and had so much fun picking what movie they wanted to watch next. It was great. It allowed us to get so much more driving done than we would have without it.

I'd turn around to check on them and they were in their booster seats eating popcorn, covered in blankets, drinks in their cupholders. It was very nice! They actually asked me to be quiet a couple of times so they could hear the movie. :D

Hi,

Thanks for the reveiw!!!! I hope to go "home" to BCV soon!!! I'm glad you had a good time!!

Did you have your reservations for the studio and the 2-bedroom linked? We're doing the same thing in December, and I'm wondering, now, whether I should have done that. (I didn't.) I certainly don't mind if they're not adjacent, but it would be nice if they were relatively close.

Thanks!

Pat

132 days and counting . . . again!

Franw- There really is no water pressure problem and would never even notice if you did not have other resorts to compare to. It is just a softer pressure that's all. It is not really a problem, it's just something you notice compared to other resorts. As far as sound proof, our studio was next to a "cast member only" room and was a dedicated studio, never heard a sound from either side. We have only ever in ANY DVC room heard noises from a lock off room, never a dedicated. Your family will love BCV and DVC overall.

Disney1fan2002-Mission Space officially opens mid Aug. It really is very intense. I had read about it and had reservations but wanted to try it anyways. If this really is what going into space is all about, I can't believe people really choose this field. For anyone who has had their blood pressure taken, this ride gives you the feeling like you have that cuff over your whole body with the same level of pressure and your whole body feels weird. I asked the guy before we got on if a lot of people were getting sick and he said on occasion. While we were in line they moved a whole group out of their pre flight capsule into another boarding station and DH over heard something that afterwards made him think they had to clean up after someone who got sick. I just remember praying the whole time I didn't get sick and DH said he did the same. Both of us were so nauseous and dizzy for some time after. One word of advice he did give us and agree having done it is to NOT close your eyes or try to move your head, keep focused straight ahead at the film or you will get disoriented and will get sick. It is like any other attraction, included with your pass.

Yes, the 2br did have planty of kitchen drawers, cupboards and space. The studio had the 2 top cupboards and the counter space was good, just no drawers anywheres.

We drove from Maine. The drive was not bad traffic wise but the construction down and back was problemsome. We hit it at different times in different locations as well as rush hours which set us back about 2-3 hours each way. We opted for I-84, I-81, I-77, I-26, I-95, I-4 which is still a far better route than I-95 the whole way.

Inky-We did have our reservations linked and we were "close" yet in another wing. I would call and link them otherwise you may end up on a different floor and the halls do extend quite a ways.

i hate twirl around rides ie tilt a whirl. love coasters. but was not going to pass up this chance last week when we were there.

it is intense but not to the level that it will automatically make you ill. i mean, think about it, why would they design a ride that will make the majority ill? i'm sure some people get ill or dizzy on some rides that each of us think as tame or acceptable.

anyway, the effect is unlike anything i've seen. the technology is beyond impressive. even my wife went. no question - DO NOT eat anything for a couple of hrs before you go. we both felt a tad dizzy and queesy (sp?) for a few minutes after.

I can answer that shower fan question. When it is tied to the light, the fan gets turned off too soon. When you have a really humid bathroom that gets that much use, you really need to run the fan for 20 mintues to get it all out or the mildew starts.

Plus, now the fan doesn't run whenever the light is on when it's not needed.

On the minus side - you have to hope people turn it on. My step son was notorius for not turning the blasted fan on. We run it all during showers and for 20 min after.

Glad you have a nice trip - and wondering where you are in Maine? I am in South Portland.

I found this to be a problem. The lower ones anyways. They were like half cabinets. Even the upper ones, except for the one over stove and one over refrig. The silverware tray was a small one and it had a tight fit sideways. I think it was three slots wide. The lower cabinets were not deep either. I found I had to put everything the long way across instead of deep.since I am short I did not want to use the upper ones for much but found I had no choice. This was the first not staying at my home of OKW but was still surprised with the kitchen. I love the location and it is great for teenagers. I just couldn't cook as much as I usually do, oh well.

How long did it take you to drive from Maine, and how old are your kids...did you stop along the way - or drive straight through? My parents live in New Brunswick, CAN, 3.5 hours from Bangor...We've driven that route going to NC and much prefer it to I95...the Parkway...well, lets just say I'm a country girl used to dirt roads!!:D (Don't want to start a debate about traffic lane usage:p ) Any info would be helpful!!
LOVE these Boards!
