We just returned from 9 days in the world (6/24-7/2) and the trip was nice, but really hot and crowded in WDW as we anticipated. This was the first trip that I utilized the GAC more than once or twice and it was really helpful.

We had a bad experience waiting in the queue for EE at AK, one boy pushed DS to the ground. It was a misunderstanding (he turned around quickly & thought DS was his brother & pushed him --shouldn't have been doing it anyway IMO) so after that DS was worried about being knocked down again.

We had no problems getting the GAC (got ours at MGM) and the CM was really nice & helpful.

Great experiences this trip with food allergies and the dining plan. Some restaurants went out of their way to get me a dessert (other than ice cream) like chocolate tofu cake (Mama Melrose) or other yummy treats. Best dinner was definitely tied between Mama's & Le Cellier, we enjoyed the plan and would do it again.

DH used the new captioning system that is being tested in Epcot but won't be rolled out for some time. It is about the size of a PDA and is really terrific, we can't wait for it to be used in all the parks.

Any questions?

What is the new captioning system like? Didn't get to use it myself.

The new item is a handheld captioner, CC remote and ALD all in one. It is about the size of a PDA and had the captions to every ride (that had captions) in every park on one device. i asked Mark if someday there would be the capability of picking up 1 device on the first day of the trip and returning it on the last and he said "that's what we're hoping to be able to do".

My DH had to test it in seven locations in Epcot then return it at the end of the day. Mark said they hoping to roll it out in the "next couple of years" & that Epcot would be the first park they roll it out in.

that was awful....

did you complaint to his parents or a cm?

there is no excuse for bullying....

I have allergies and I know WDW tries it best. but still I know when I cook or at least prepare my own food - I know what is in them and I know I won't get sick.... that is one season while I love DVC!!!!

going in Sept and using the disney dinning (not the free plan) just for one night...

I was thinking Le Cellier - I talked to someone last time and I was told I could order a steak without pepper or any seasonings..... but I don't know sometimes the Cm outside don't understand that some stuff (steaks) arrive pre seasoned....

so what are you allergic too?

Hi Pat-

I addressed the two boys a couple of times while we were in line (standby, didn't use the GAC since the wait was relatively short) as they were continously swinging the metal chains into themselves and others, cursing (they looked to be about 10 & 12, IMO) and pushing each other. The adults that they "appeared" to be with were talking to each other, then one was on a cell phone and the other was just not paying attention. I said repeatedly to leave the chains alone, please leave the chains alone, etc...loud enough for the adults to hear and they did nothing, the kids just laughed. Then they were fooling around inside the building and hitting the plexiglass or glass in front of the displays of the "old" cassette players and record players. When we got into the pre-show, they started shoving each other, one ducked into a dark spot and the the other didn't realize he pushed my DS, who was caught off guard and fell to the ground right in front of the CM.

The adults (turned out to their aunt & uncle) said they didn't even realize the kids were doing anything wrong because "it was already so loud in there". The CM said that the boys had to leave the room, they ended up not seeing the pre-show but he still let them ride, we saw them in line when we got there. UGH!

As far as allergies, I'm allergic to eggs, tree nuts & peanuts, bananas, pineapple, oysters & mussels and cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners of any kind. I can honestly say that I had not one reaction at all during my last 2 trips. I did plan ahead and noted all my allergies on my ADRs, also I did email Barbara Bennet at the MK ahead of time and got 3 calls at my home before I left to clarify things from Le Cellier, Coral Reef & Cape May.

I understand about the seasoning issue, while it doesn't affect me directly I do know of others who cannot have any seasoning on their steak. I know that it can be done, because when we had lunch there on Sunday, the family next to us had a DD with Downs Syndrome who also had issues with food spices and seasonings and they said her steak would be prepared separately & would be served unseasoned. Since we were right next to each other they heard the chef address my allergies and they said they had been there visiting from England for almost 2 weeks and did not have a problem at all with requesting plain items.

Good luck!

I'm glad to hear you have such a good experience - especially with multiple food allergies. Someone else recently was asking about dining at WDW with multiple allergies and hopefully this post will give them some encouragement.

We've also found Le Cellier to be very very careful about food prep. We loved Mama's too and we've always gotten great service from the chefs at Crystal Palace. :goodvibes

It sounds like you had a very nice trip.

My son has a lot of food allergies and orders his steaks from Le Cellier with just salt and pepper. They also prepare french fries for him in a separate pan with fresh oil. It's so nice to be able to go out to eat and not worry so much about the allergies.
