Our family just returned from WDW and had an incredible time. I wanted to thank everyone on here for giving out such great advice. Our trip went so smoothly, largely because of taking advantage of all of the super tips that I read on here! I did want to share with everyone something that happened to me on the Dinosaur! ride. I am 41 and love most any ride, bumpy, fast, etc. We rode on this ride 5 years ago when it was Countdown to Extinction with no problems. This time though, I was leaning slightly forward when the last 3D dinosaur jumps out at you. The ride then jerked and I hit my nose and mouth on the bar in front of us. I got a nice bloody nose out of it there, unfortunately, and when we got home my teeth were aching. When we came out of the ride , the CM gave me some ice, but the bleeding stopped pretty quickly. ( No time to dwell on injuries when you have two kids that are ready to get on to the rest of the park! :))
The strange part was there was a dad right near us in the ride's gift shop with an ice pack on his son's neck. Apparently, the boy had his neck jerked back, too. Anyway, I guess my advice is to keep your head back and if you have any health risks, you may want to skip this ride. Other than that, everything was wonderful! If anyone would like to ask any questions, feel free. I would love to return the favors!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune - a bloody lip is never fun, especially on vacation.

Not sure about Dinosaur, but several people have claimed to have been severely injured on its Disneyland counterpart, the Indiana Jones Adventure. I recall at least one lawsuit about it a few years back.

Sorry about your accident.I am a BIG BABY and will probably never ride Dinasour.I have problems with my neck and back so i guess that would not be a good thing for me to ride even if i was not a Chicken.:teeth:

I have ridden Disnosaur twice - once when it was Countdown and then again last year. Each time I have come away with a huge bruise on my calf the first time and a sore back and neck the second that lasted for two days. I love thrill rides, but this once has been marked off my list - it is just too rough.

I though maybe it was where I was sitting in the car, first time was up front, so this last year we sat closer to back. No difference. Thought maybe it was a weight thing. First time - I was thin, normal sized - thought maybe (yeah right) I didn't weigh enough to hold me in place. This last year, I have put on quite a bit of weight since having my son, and still got tossed around.

All I can say is I tried - twice- but will never do this ride again. It is also very loud and way too bright flashes of light and bursts of air that are just annoying. Note to anyone out there with small children - don't take them on it. My DS was 4 this past year and wanted to try it. He fits the height requirement and I explained what would happen. He hated it. It wasn't the dinosaurs that scared him - it was the lights and the jerky car, and the bursts of air.

Just my opinion. Iam sure there are those out there that disagree.

Sorry about your bloody nose!!!

Angie

Thanks for the scoop.. think we'll pass on this ride, plenty others to do.. Sorry about your injury. That stinks.

Sorry to hear about your injury :( Ouch!!

I am a big ride whimp and I love Dinosaur.
I have ridden it at least 7 or 8 times all the way back to CtE in 1998.
Never any problems.......it is jerky though. Guess you just have to prepare yourself for it.

I find Rock and Roller coaster much worse. I can tolerate Dinosaur. In fact, I think it is a little easier since the put in more light.

Sorry about your injury. We went in March and talked my 16 yo into going on it. We said if she tried it and didn't like it, then fine, she didn't have to do it again.

We kicked ourselves later because we didn't buy the picture. She hated it. She has always hated real loud music or noises. (had to take her out to the lobby during the Nutcracker at 4). In the picture she has her head down and her hands over her ears, with her eyes closed. :D

We gave her a little hard time, but won't have her go on again. But she LOVES Test track, and now after 6 years, Thunder Mountain. But it is one step at a time and I will never force her to do something she truly does not want to do.

Gosh... we rode Dinosaur like 6 times in a row... no problems.. we loved it.. however "Primevil Hurl" really threw me around and gave me a huge bruise on my arm...

>>^..^<<

Sorry to hear about the injuries. Actually they tamed it down due to injuries before. We rode it last year and it was a lot tamer than a couple of years before. It was actually VERY bad before
