We are just back from a great week at WDW (I'll post a trip report soon over there...)

But I had to post here a HUGE THANK YOU to the many disers who gave me such good advice especially...

1) Dole Whips - never would have looked at them twice and YUM!

2) have a plan but be prepared to change it if something new and exciting comes up

3) MK parade viewing from Libery Square

4) "official" name tags for the kids - resulted in several personalized autographs and lots of nice comments

5) giving my DS a piece of paper with "Daddy's cell phone" on it...never had to use it but what a great idea!

6) dinner at Whistling Winds - fun!

7) Driving our own car from FW....the bus system would have been much slower.

8) asking cast members where to find a particular character that day - got to see both Snow White and Peter Pan.

9)Mr. Potato head parts - started my Christmas shopping early!

and

10) Priority seating!! It had been awhile and I think I might have totally forgotten....the Chef Mickey Breakfast was especially great.

Thanks so much!!!!:wave2:

i would also like to thank everyone here on the DIS.....i learned so much and was REALLY prepared for our trip......prepared for everything except hurricane Charley!! :( but, i didn't forget to pack one single thing and with some quick thinking (and dh inputs), was able to salvage the trip! i thank everyone here and hope to be able to pass on my experiences and advice!!

I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip! The folks here are wonderful about sharing great tips for magical trips...

Now, it's your turn to help first time visitors plan their trips with all the good advice! (And I'm with you on the Dole Whips- YUMMY!) :teeth: princess:

What did you use for the nametags? We are leaving in 8 days and have been debating what type of nametag to give to our kids - 5 and 3. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

we got ds the same one. they are Guest Of Honor badges. i have read u can get them at MGM somewhere, but we bought ours at Days of Xmas in DTD. fyi-they are all the way in the back, right hand corner of the store...(the back room with the towels and embroadering (spelled wrong). they are like $7.50 (with tax & engraving of name is free). ds proudly wore his and was addressed by name by CM's and was able to ride upfront in monorail....oh yeah, and Minnie signed "to Ryan, love, Minnie Mouse".....he thought that was pretty cool she knew his name!!:teeth:

Welcome Back!! Glad to hear you had such a magical trip. These boards are a great wealth of info and the people here are incredibly nice. I only wish I would have found these boards before our first trip years ago!!

I don't know what you child or childrens names are, but if they are a little unusual I would go the Gifts of a Lifetime route. In the past I had looked for the name badges for our grandchildren. My children seems to like different names for the kids and of course I could not find the ones I wanted. I contacted Gifts of a Lifetime and they got them for me and shipped them to the house for me. Yes they cost a little more, but I had them before I left and did not have to go looking for them at the park which was so great. Also getting the names exactly as they are either spelled and the unusual names was great and no one was dissappointed.

Forgot to tell you we also got name tags for all of the adults that went on the trip. We all wore them. As much fun as it is to see the characters call the children by name, it is that much fun for yourself.

Thanks for the tips. Ordering was a great idea, but we are close enough to our trip that I worry they might not make it to us. I will check out the stores.

I have to echo the sentiment on all the great tips and help I have received here. Thanks!:)
