Hi....my name is BostonChowdah....and I'm a newbie...
*Hi Chowdah*
Ok...so let me give ya the run-down....
There were about 11 adults and 4 kids...all of which stayed both on site (all 3 resort levels) and off site (vacation home)....
Each location had it's advantages and disadvantages...neither of which I can spell (I think I got it right though)...anyways...were not first timers to the area...rarely did we do the "disney death march" or rush around. We had enough time to visit all the parks at our own pace, (we were there for a month) and spent alot of time hanging aorund the resorts.
1)Mugs...yes I know you love this topic...one of the biggest questions I had was the fact that we were going to stay at almost a half-dozen resorts....and would we have to buy new mugs. I called a few days before to ask this question...she didn't really help me...and I was given the impression that I would have to buy mugs at each resort
. Anyways, upon arrival I spoke to one of the CMs at the BCV and she said to use the same mug... and that she thought it would be foolish for us to buy new mugs at every resort (can you imagine what they would say if they searched my luggage on the way back
.....something tells me that 30-something mugs in a luggage bag may look a little sketchy!) So we used the same mugs...with exception to out stay at the WL...we bought new ones...but thats becasue we liked the way the WL ones looked. In case anyone approached us about using different mugs...my Fiance and his brothers made a list of what to do...
*straight of the paper*
In case you are approached by the mug mob...please follow these instructions:
Smile...continue filling your mug...look around....spot someone filling the wrong mug too....spark up a conversation with them..."Did you enjoy your stay at _______? How do you like it compared to this resort?" Quickly walk away...you have just successfully set someone else up...mission complete...
If caught:
Walk over to the nearest register...purchase one mug...return to fountain...stand their...smile at CM...fill mug...dump mug into other resort mug....fill mug again...dump into another resort mug...continue until all mugs are full...walk away...say under your breath: "who's the smart **** now?"...
To Prevent getting caught:
Send up the cutest kid in the group...no CM will say no to little Suzie and her blonde pig-tails....if your traveling without kids...your basically screwed...but keeping George in your back pocket may help out...have a Lincoln on hand just in case it's a manager that spots you.
As I told you...we had lots of down time...maybe a little too much
. The mug mob never came after us...we were cautious...and made sure that we didn't abuse the privledge...we always used a disney mug...some people used other random mugs...even a universal mug!
2) Transportation...VRROOOMMM....ok...I was pleasantly suprised with how efficent the bus service was. In the past I never thought it to be bad...but some others have complained. I never waited more than 10mins for a bus...of course it was longer when we were leaving at park closing times...but thats expected! Even service at the values was pretty good. The one complaint I have is that there is no Bus Stop structure at these resorts...and it's a pian waiting for buses. Also that the buses fill up fast!
I still feel that disney needs a better form of transportation for traveling from resort to resort. We had reservations at Ohana's, Chef Mickey's, and Cape May cafe for the character breakfasts. We drove our car, but several families arrived late due to the bus service, not because buses was late, but because they underestimated the time it would take to get there.
Waiting for the buses can be fun...simple games like catch phrase or bringing zip zaps...make the wait go by a lot faster...and can include everyone at the bus stop. This game comes in handy waiting for fantasmic and parades as well. Nothing beats a 25 person game of catch phrase! The games took the stress off waiting for buses and shows to start, and they conviently fit in your favorite fanny-pack!
3) Know what to expect....people sometmes go into disney vacations with extremely high expectations...yes we expect a lot for our money...and yes...it is a lot of money....but disney can't meet everyones needs.
I take choosing a resort for my group pretty seriously...I factor in how much time were going to stay there...and what everyone is looking for (pool, location, etc). If what we want isn't in our budget to stay in the parks...then we'll stay off in a villa or home...or post pone our trip and save some more.
Read reviews and look at pictures...I think choosing the resort is an important part of any dsney vacation!
P.S. I think Disney should introduce a resort wide mug system...meaning that GF had the same mug as CBR...possibly a mug that read something like "22 resorts, 1 world"...with each of the resorts logo on it.

Glad to see there are fellow Chowdah heads on these boards...
.... Since I went with my fiance and his family as well as friends here in NC...I was the only one bummed about the lack of rotaries in the Orlando area...or who even knew what they were...
!! I love that game. Thanks!
Glad you had a good time. Thanks for the report
