Just Back - A Couple of Thoughts

Just returned from two fun days at DL/CA. A couple of thoughts:

I definitely enjoyed staying at Candy Cane Inn. The rooms were nice; the beds were comfortable; it was nice to have a fridge in the room; the staff was very nice; liked having the option of using the shuttle, even though the hotel was very close to DL. The only drawback was that we got a room on the second floor (to minimize possible noise), and carrying heavy suitcases up and down the stairs was a bit of a drag! Other than that, I highly recommend CCI!

Loved reading a tip on the DIS that the FP machine at Thunder Mountain was disconnected with the rest of the FP system at DL. It was a great "insider" tip to know that we could get BTMRR FPs pretty much any time, even if we weren't allowed to get a FP with the other rides. I grabbed a FP for Space Mountain, then walked right over and got a BTMRR FP right away (without waiting the two hours normally needed to get a FP). Yay, DISBoards!

Went to DL on the day of a Halloween party. We thought it wouldn't be a big deal to hop over to CA at 7:00, but apparently, everyone else had the same idea! It was totally packed at CA. Luckily, we had hopped back and forth to both parks all day (starting at 8:00 am), so we were ready to leave when the crowds migrated to CA at 7:00. (I guess I'm just used to DisneyWorld, where the crowds have three other parks to disperse to when Magic Kingdom closes for a Halloween party. At DL, there aren't as many options, so CA gets crowded.)

Enjoyed the food at Carnation Cafe - had the chicken pot pie (good!) and shepherd's pie (also good!). Good corndog at CA, too. A good non-park restaurant is Mimi's; great food!

That's all I can think of for now. It was nice getting my Disney "fix" after two years off!

Glad you had fun! We love CCI too! We've stayed there 3 times. We've been upstairs and down and I never noticed a difference with noise. I perfer downstairs for easy loading and unloading. We bring our rain noise machine to play at night when we go to any hotel to drown out the odd noises.

Glad you had a great trip!

After all these positive review about Candy Cane Inn. I think I'm going to have to check it out on my next trip.

One more thing that I forgot to add - I absolutely loved TSMM! I had never been on it before, and we waited about 40 minutes in line. It was awesome, and totally worth the long wait! I had so much fun. I kept thinking beforehand, "It's probably just a 'souped up" Buzz Lightyear ride," but it was much more fun than that. I just wish they would fastpass this ride! The waits can be insane.

Thanks for the good word on The Candy Cane Inn. We have ressies there for spring break. :goodvibes

Thanks, I was more asking:
Approximately how long did the walk take you on average? :)

Besides, I'm Canadian, I don't know nothing about no feet and miles! :rotfl:
I work with Canadians all the time and travel there regularly and you folks up north know your feet and miles pretty well! :)

I walked DLR to CCI in August in about 8 minutes. But I walk fast!

I must have missed this tip somewhere - I thought it was the Roger Rabbit ride that was disconnected. Just to confirm, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is not connected to the rest of the fast pass system?

Since the summer BTMRR has been disconnected.

That is exactly what I needed, 8 minutes for an adult who walks quickly is probably too far for our 6 year old who walks slowly.

Thanks oodles! :worship:

All joking aside, I know feet but have no concept of how far a mile is and except for my height, I think 100% in metric. (Ask me my height in metric and I would have to pull out a pen and paper or calculator!) I was only 1/2 joking when I said I had no idea about feet and miles!

I'd echo the 8 min from CCI (and we had two kids). We walked from Desert Palms (next doorish) and it took us 10. 8 Sounds right :)

Since the summer BTMRR has been disconnected.

Is Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin still disconnected? Did they replace one for the other or just add BTMRR to the disconnected FP network?

Thanks for the great info!
