Hi All,
Just got back from a fantastic week at WDW and wanted to do a "just back" post since I loved reading them before I left.
Stayed at the Yacht Club. Did online check in and it was awesome. We landed at 4:30 pm on a Friday and when I turned my phone on the text was there. Got my request for ground floor too. Went straight to the room and got in no problems.
ME - I don't know if it was the time of day but Magical Express was awesome coming in. We walked right on. Not sure if this changes but order of drop off was Caribbean Beach, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club. Leaving the order was reversed so we were first pick up. Our letter said pick up 10:25 and they were there on the dot.
Dining - I'll be posting on the dining board because I have a lot of food and drink to review between restaurants and the food and wine booths/demos.
Eat to the Beat - Sugar Ray - so much fun! Wasn't something I planned on but ended up catching the end of one show so came back the next day for the full show.
Weather - First time going in September - oooh it was hot and humid. I expected heat but wow. Also had afternoon thunderstorms/showers Monday - Thursday. Usually around 2 or 4 the storms would roll in. After the evenings were fine but we just had to start counting on an afternoon shower.
Crowds - I've typically been during low crowd weeks so this week seemed really crowded to me. Ride lines weren't always terrible but it just seemed like there were a lot of people around. But for the most part people were cool and those that weren't, well shame on you!
Memory Maker - I'm really torn on this one. I really like the pictures I got but it's really expensive so I'm still on the fence for value for my husband and myself. Plus it doesn't help I was so hot I look hot and sweaty in most of the pics. There were a lot of photographers around though and the photobooths are fun, I love that they can be added to this.
DisneyBound - For the first time DisneyBounded. It was cool. Pretty simple, yellow skirt, blue t-shirt, apple earrings(you know where I'm going with this). Got a lot of positive feedback.
From Epcot WS, YC & BC, and Boardwalk you can see the Star Wars Fireworks - they're awesome. So we had a fireworks show every night from our hotel.
Cabs - we cabbed a few times. YC to Contemporary was about $15 one way (though coming back we were stuck in traffic from that accident that brought the sign down so that made it double). Also, for our trip to MK we requested a scooter accessible cab. We had a drop off at the Contemporary and we headed to MK from there, no difference in price, just may have to wait a little longer. Then to come back our hotel we took the Ferry from MK to the transportation center then monorail to Epcot.
Security - So being at YC we were spoiled by the ease of security getting into World Showcase. Don't get me wrong, they're still doing bag checks etc but the crowds aren't as heavy at that gate so the times we walked in it moved rather quick. Different story at MK. Probably didn't help that we got a late jump but it was about 45 minutes to get thru bag check.
CMs - awesome. Maybe I'm not there enough to notice a difference but everyone was helpful and friendly.
Magic Bands - Love, love, love. Worked well all week, made things so easy. Maybe too easy when it came to shopping and eating!
MDE - Love this app. I changed dinner ressies easily and at the last minute. Made FP+ changes with no issue. So cool.
Wifi - Wifi worked great for me at the parks and hotel. Initially had to find it when I first go to the parks but it would find it automatically after that.
Disney Springs - First visit since the Pleasure Island days, big changes! Yeah it's a mall but there's so much Disney-centric merch that I can't get at the same stores here. I just wish there were more benches and shade. It was HOT and we had some time to kill before a lunch ressie it was hard to find a shady spot to sit.
Ok - I probably made this longer than it should be. Check out my dining reviews I'll have a lot to say there!
