We just had one of the very best vacations ever! We were in the World from 8/19-8/30 (actually 8/29......left early on the 30th) and everything was great!!!
There were plenty of people there and we did have a few waits here and there BUT nothing too crazy. It was HOT but very manageable with plenty of water in our Brita bottles. My kids had small fans that helped but I never felt the need for one. We did encounter plenty of rain.....it rained EVERYDAY except one. Mostly the usual afternoon thunderstorms but a few days it rained more than others. Our E-night on 8/22 was a washout!! Ponchos were definitely a must!! Did all the parks and TL and BB too!! Stayed a CBR and LOVED IT!!! Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Some observations:
1) Would definitely do the end of August again......the crowds were not too bad and we were able to do everything we wanted!
2) Loved staying for 11 nights.......never felt the pressure to get things done. Slept in most days and just kinda went with the flow. Didn't feel the usual exhaustion you get from running ragged and trying to see everything in a short period of time. Was able to really enjoy the resort and do things we wouldn't during a shorter stay (ex. we rented watermice one afternoon....very fun!) Next time my goal is to stay for 2 whole weeks.
3) You definitely have to be able to deal with rain and heat if you go at this time of year! Ponchos, as I said are a must!! We dealt with closed pools, rides and such due to lightening a few times but not enough to damper our spirits! Brita water bottles are also a must!! Keeping hydrated was very helpful!!
4) I was very disappointed with E-night. Not sure if I'd do it again. For some reason, I had in my mind that Fantasyland was open and it was not........I have done E-night in the past and I thought this was so but I could very well be mixing my memories up with MVMCP. Anyway, I do know on our last E-night in '99 Pirates was open and this time it was not. Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Alien Encounter, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, Country Bear Jamboree, Space Orbiters and the People mover were open. Out of nine attractions, my little one was only able to do four. Not worth the ticket price in my opinion. Again, it was my fault for not investigating it fully and the rain came down in buckets that night so all in all not a fun time for us! Not to mention Big Thunder Mountain was having difficulties that night so that was one less ride to enjoy!
5) Saw all the parades except Jammin' Jungle Parade! It was called off the day we went due to, you guessed it, rain!! Finally saw the parade in MGM and really enjoyed it!!
6) I NEVER had my Dole Whip that I vowed to have on this trip!! Everytime we were by the stand it seemed never to be a good time.......too early, just ate, too full, etc!!! I WILL have one someday!!!!
Any questions anyone has, fire away!! I will post our dining experiences on the restaurant board and CBR experience on the resort board!!
