Hi. We (me, dh, dd8, ds 5 & 1) just returned from the VWL. I thought I'd post a quick report since I love reading everyone else's reports!

Room: Stayed in 4530, a dedicated 1 bedroom (didn't know there was such a thing!). It was great. In great condition, obviously thoroughly cleaned before we checked in. Room ready by 2pm. I thought it was a great location--near the elevator, no bad view. When we checked in, we had our choice of a few rooms on the 1st, 3rd and 4th floors. I wasn't sure, so I asked the CM to pick the room based on what she knew about the rooms, as long as they were NS and non-HA. That seemed to work great this time, and was stress-free.

Resort: Wow, lots of trees down from Charley, but otherwise great. We love the feel of this resort. The pools weren't very crowded. The CMs were nice, and WCC can be lots of fun.

Transportation: Generally pretty good. We did have a couple of "you can't get there from here" moments, but we did fine. Some of the park bus routes also go to Ft. Wilderness, and some also go to Grand Floridian. GF was the faster route. Also, the quickest bus is to the TTC, so when in doubt, hop on that bus and get anywhere you need to. This worked great for Epcot (quick TTC bus, then monorail), going to Poly for dinner, and when the boats aren't running in bad whether. BTW, WHY do they share a boat with Ft. Wilderness on EE mornings????? The boat was always full when it got to us. My only real complaint that I thought they could correct.

Parks: Hot but not as horrible as I expected (we always took afternoon pool breaks). No bugs. Crowds not much worse than February. We had always avoided summer heat/crowds, but we'd definitely do the end of August again. The water parks didn't reach capacity the whole time we were there--even with the local schools closed because of Charley.

All in all a great trip. We love VWL--we think it's the best if you are judging the resort itself. For location, can't beat Beach Club, and for room, well OKW has them all beat. I love being able to pick and choose, and not being stuck in one place every trip.

Any questions??
Jenny

I don't understand that dedicated one bedroom thing. I would think you would have to have 2 bedrooms and then they are either dedicated or a lock-off??

Thanks for the report. We are making our 1st trip home to VWL next June so it's great to hear other's experiences!:D

Maybe I'm phrasing it incorrectly. We had a one bedroom that did not have a connecting door to a studio.

Thanks for the trip report, sounds like you had a great time. I have not stayed at the VWL, but it definitely is on my list to try.

Hi,

Great report! Glad you had a wonderful time!!
