Part 1: BLT
We arrived Tuesday, Dec. 1 at about 12:30, dropped off the luggage and went to DTD to pick up a TIW card. The computer was down at E of S so it took about 35 minutes to get our food. The line at Guest Relations didn’t move either. Only two CMs working and everyone ahead of us must have been getting the endless ticket options explained to them. The whole place was kind of crowded (parking lot said “full” and we’ve never seen that before) considering it was a Tuesday afternoon. After about 30 minutes, we were on our way and decided to walk around, wandering over to the Characters in Flight balloon ride, which was surprise for DH. He dreams of going on the real thing, which I will never do, but I totally enjoyed this, and I do not do any mountain, terror, simulator, or roller coaster rides.

When I woke up at 5:30 a.m. the next morning the lights of the castle were on, what a great sight! Breakfast was at 1900 Park Fare at 8:00. We figured we would eat, skip the characters if they didn’t come by before we were done, then get a jump on MK. This was not to be. The monorail was having technical difficulties and we wasted about 20 minutes standing there with no communication from the CMs. Finally by the time they said they had to send for maintenance, the line at the dock was so long that we had to wait for three boats. We finally stepped foot on Main Street at 10:05. There were minimum waits everywhere we went (except Peter Pan), but we don’t do the thrill rides, so I don’t know how they were. The weather was perfect. Lunch at Pecos Bill’s was just okay. We walked back to our room at 4:30. How nice it is to be able to walk home from MK! Dinner at California Grill was great, but the wait was not. We arrived at 7:15 for 7:30 ADRs and were not seated until 8:10. With the fireworks at 8:00, no one was leaving before then. Next year, 6:00.

Thursday we went to the MK EMK and arrived about 8:30 a.m. They did not check room keys. We saw them taping the show in front of the castle, but you couldn’t get too close. At lunch (Columbia Harbour House) we received a coupon for 20% off the total merchandise purchase at the main store in each of the parks. It had to be used between 9 and 12 noon. It was totally worth it because the next day I saved $53 on Christmas gifts. I think it’s triggered by the drink, because when I bought a bottle of soda from elsewhere I never got it with other lunches. That evening we ate at Narcoossee’s, one of our favorite restaurants. It did not disappoint. Once again at 9:30, another MVMCP fireworks show before we move on to BWV. The perfect ending to an outstanding leg of our trip!

A quick note about the room: It’s directly across from the Trash and Recycling room. I never heard a sound and I am a light sleeper. The room itself was bright and beautiful, sleek and shining. Absolutely loved everything about it! The virtual tour and even the model do not do it justice. With the real castle in your window, it was just breathtaking!
If I really had to knit-pick about something, I would say the light in the bathrooms was a little glaring, I had trouble doing my makeup.

What a wonderful first impression! Too bad I could only talk DH into enough points for three nights a year. Anyway, I cannot wait to go back next December!

Any questions?

Sounds like you had a great time minus the hiccups along the way.

I agree with you, BLT is a wonderful resort. The view of the castle from your bedroom cannot be beat.

Robert

What a bummer getting stuck at GF after your breakfast at 1900 Park Fare on your first morning. It wouldn't have been so bad if you'd been able to hang around the lobby instead of being in corrals (lines).

Funny that your complaint on lighting at BLT was too bright, whereas many complain that AKV's lighting is too dark. Maybe Ko Olina will be just right.

Hope the rest of your trip is great! Happy Holidays! :santa:

Thanks AuntSue! We are staying at BLT for the first time in March:cool1: Can't wait to walk to and from MK:wizard:

We head to the BW in a little over a week so I look forward to your report:thumbsup2

Thanks for the report! We are doing a split stay in February, 4 nights at BWV and 2 nights at BLT! Can't wait. Be sure to post your BLT room and view info on the BLT views thread!

Looking forward to hearing about BWV....

Robert@dvcstore... We absolutely BLT. If we spent more time at MK, I would seriously need more points.

DenLo... I had to really dig deep to find anything negative to say about BLT and the lighting was the only thing that came to mind. We really loved everything about it. Before staying there, I thought it would be really nice, but we were blown away by how great the whole experience there actually was.

Last year we stayed at AKL in a 1 BR in Jambo House, and trust me, the lighting really was very poor throughout the unit, but looking out onto the savanna was wonderful.

DisneyJen... The walk to and from MK is a piece of cake. It looks a lot further than it seems when you actually walk it, and what a dream not to have to deal with the bus crowds after early park closing. Have a great time there at Christmas with the grandparents. It's so great to take family. It makes the memories even more special.

BWV Dreamin... We just may see you around some day, seeing as how we both own BLT and BWV. I notice you are going to HH and VGC next year. Did you book them using points at seven months? Have you ever stayed at HH before? VGC is new, isn't it? When I lived and worked in NJ we used some of our points at places other than WDW, but now that we're only three and a half hours away from the mouse, I no longer have that inclination.

work2play... Where would I find that thread? I don't recall ever seeing it.

Ha! From your avatar I thought you were from Ocean City Maryland ! I did get HHI at 7 mos. And this will be our first trip there. I am hoping for VGC at 7 mos! Yes I am looking forward to meeting you...TOTW or Jellyrolls? :cool1:

BWV Dreamin'... Yes, we are in OC, MD for four and a half months (actually Ocean Pines, just over the bridge, but I figured everyone's heard of OC) and Naples for the rest of the year. It's the endless summer, the best of both worlds. Do you ever get to OC in the summer?

work2play... Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen it before. Wow, you really did a lot of work. It's awesome!

Something I forgot to mention about BLT - the bedding was very luxurious. We absolutely loved the duvet and the pillows were so comfy, even at BWV, that I will no longer be bringing my own king-size, one less item to worry about. The refurbed rooms at BWV still have a bedspread.

We are in OC every summer at 4th of July! We have a condo at 125th! Small world!

Wow, work2play, that looks pretty far from OC. We have not really explored MD, so I had no idea where you were. I just looked up it up on mapquest. We've never even been to Annapolis or Baltimore. Our knowledge of the state is pretty much limited to our immediate area, and the roads going up to the Delaware border on our way to NJ and those going down to the Virginia border on our way to FL. Oh yeah, I'm also familiar with the 40 minute trek from OP to the mall in Salisbury, poor as it is.

Be that as it may, we love it there in the summer.

Yeah Susan, you got the signature!!!:thumbsup2 we lived in Annapolis for 25 years before moving out to the country. You should take a side trip on your way home and visit!
