We just returned from our trip last night. We were not on the Dining Plan this time and did the following table-service meals:

California Grill dinner
Coral Reef dinner
1900 Park Fare dinner
Marrakesh lunch
Chef Mickey breakfast
Sci-Fi lunch
'Ohana breakfast

If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer!

I would love to hear all about your Cali Grill dinner...we are trying it for the first time in June

Welcome back.:goodvibes

After hearing loads of bad reviews for Coral Reef I would like to know what you though of your dinner there?
We are eating here in May and haven't been since 2007.:surfweb:

Thanks.popcorn::

Dinner at Cali Grill was wonderful! It was our first time there and we really enjoyed it. We had 7pm ressies, so we saw the sunset and Wishes while we were there, which were both spectacular.

I had the filet, DH had sushi and ostrich, and DD7 and DD9 both had kids meal steaks. Everything was very good, both DD's said it was a great dinner.

We were seated on time and had a great server.

We had a custom bday (DD9) cake for dessert, so I can't comment on the desserts on the menu.

We will definitely eat there again the next time we go!

has Cali fixed the flatbread oven yet?

I had sushi and ostrich too, last month.

sounds like you had a good time....I would like to know how the kids like Sci Fi....and what did you all have.........thanks for taking the time also to do this.

We were last there for dinner on Feb 2007, and I was a little disappointed that the shrimp/pasta entree was no longer on the menu. But what we had was very good. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I had the lobster soup (very good) and land-and-sea appetizer (also very good). DH got the grouper (special catch for the day, I think) and he was very pleased with it.

We enjoyed it, and would eat there again.

Phew, thank you.:thumbsup2

I have been second guessing this one all week.:scratchin

I would love to hear about your experiences at Marrakesh, Chef Mickey's and Sci-Fi, if it's not too much trouble? What did you order, how was the service, how were the noise levels, etc.?

And welcome back! :goodvibes

As of last Sunday, still no flatbread :sad2:
Monday we were at AK. On the safari when we saw ostriches both DD's said "Daddy, there's your dinner". :)

Thanks! :)

Marrakesh was very good and there were very few people in there (this was a 1pm lunch). I had beef couscous, DH had some sort of sampler platter. It's not really my kind of food, but I enjoyed it. Service was very good, and all the servers sang Happy Birthday to DD in non-English (Moroccan?) :) There was live music being played and a belly dancer. It was fun.

Chef Mickey's was good as always. It seemed to me that there was more variety in the buffet than I recall in 2007. Service was ok.

Sci-Fi was good, I had a burger (large and very tasty) and DH had a reuben which he said was good. Onion rings were excellent and DD's both had oreo milkshakes which were very good. The seating arrangement made conversation a little awkward, but it's a very cute place. Service was very good.

Everyplace we ate, we were seated either on time or early. That was a very pleasant surprise. :thumbsup2

We are doing 'Ohana for breakfast for the first time next month. I would love to hear your thoughts as this was a suggestion from a cm.

Thanks for doing this:goodvibes

It sounds like you can get sushi as an appetizer at California Grill. Is this true? Were you on the DxDP or did you pay for it out of pocket?

Thanks.

It was our first time there and we really liked it.
DD7 and DD9 are not really into interacting with the characters any more, but Stitch was too much fun for them to resist :)

We were seated promptly (early, even), the food and service were both very good. It's family style, so they bring out a large platter for the table with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and biscuits, and a smaller plate of fresh fruit. And they come around with Mickey waffles too. If you want more of anything, just ask and they bring it out.

Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch were there yesterday morning.

I'm very glad we did it. :thumbsup2

We didn't do the dining plan this trip.
So this was paid out of pocket  by my parents .

DH had the sushi as an appetizer. I don't do sushi, but he said it was very good. :)

Thanks so much for your review!! I am really looking forward to this breakfast!!!

Awesome! I was going to ask you about Cali Grille but you answered already. We are having our anniversary dinner there. I can't wait!

I, personally, would love to hear reviews of all! All are on my list for our August trip, except I'm thinking dinner at Ohana.

I think I covered all the restaurants earlier in the thread except for 1900 Park Fare dinner.

The buffet was very good, there was an excellent variety to choose from. Our server was attentive and interacted well with DD9 and DD7. The characters were good, in particular Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters were funny and played their roles very well (snotty stepmother, spoiled stepsister, airhead stepsister). DD's aren't into characters much any more, but they really enjoyed watching and interacting with those three in particular.

If you have any questions about any of the meals that I didn't cover, just let me know! :)
