and we LOVED it! It was our first trip home. We got many "welcome home" statements from the CMs on the first day! How fun! We stayed in a one bedroom villa, with a pool view. The room was very well maintained. We did not have any problems with the thermostat (we had a nightmare trip last year to the GF with the new thermostats, and had to have engineering in the room every other day to keep it under 80 degrees!). It was hot - low 90's (that's hot for us Minnesota residents!), and the room stayed consistently cool. Also, no hot water/pressure problems. We are really glad that we are DVC Members and that we own at the BCV. Loved Stormalong Bay and Beaches and Cream (Yikes, I gained 5 pounds, my DH 4;))

The only negatives, ignoring the trash in the hallways - why don't guests just take the trash to the chute? - were the bus service and Periwigs salon. We arrived at the bus stop at 7:10am to catch a bus to the MK for early entry last Sunday. By 7:50, no MK bus had arrived! There was quite a crowd at the stop, so we decided to get our car. We did notice that when we drove out a MK bus that was relatively full had stopped, but there was no way that everyone could get on the bus. We decided to use the car for the rest of the trip. I would have been furious if our only option was the bus!

Periwigs salon was also a downer. I made a maincure (basically just a polish change) and pedicure appointment well before our arrival. When I got there, the technician really wasn't ready. I had confirmed the appointment that morning with her, so she knew about it. She pulled out a box of gloves to use, and they were latex. I told her that I was allergic, and she made a rather weak attempt to find non latex gloves. She told me there was no way that she was going to do the service without gloves (like I was some sewer rat!). I did not ask her to do anything and I did not expect her to perform a service if she needed to wear gloves. Her only concern was her safety, not mine (my allergy is life threatening), and she made no real attempt to get other gloves, get me into another salon (the GF has nonlatex gloves, as most salons do), etc. She was really quite rude, and told me she would not do the services, so I should leave! (I went to Beaches and Cream - a much better investment! ;))

We told guest services and the GM's office, because a latex allergy can be serious and they need to have other gloves, if the employees need to wear them. Both CM's told us that Periwigs is an outside contractor, not Disney. Seems to me the salon needs to perform to Disney standards. Whatever!

It was a great trip, and now we are planning the next one (which will not include salon services ;)). I hope Disney sorts out the bus service, too! Thanks for all of the great help!

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the BCVs. I LOVE it there!

We always rent a car when we go to WDW. I guess I am one of those people that doesn't like to be dependant on a bus schedule.

I am glad you reported the Periwig's situation. I do hope that gets resolved.

As to the trash in the hall, let me tell you a little story about our visit over Easter week. We are very careful to dispose of our trash every day where it belongs. On our Trash and Towel day, Mousekeeping knocked and we let her in while we finished getting ready to leave for the day. She took out the trash and gave us our fresh towels. About 30 miutes later, we left our studio and there was OUR TRASH out in the hall! Needless to say I felt awkward because I sure didn't want anyone to think *I* was that uncouth!!;)

I did notice that she was leaving trash from units she had cleaned and later picked them up.

I just wanted to give you a heads up. Not ALL of us leave our trash in the hall

Thanks for the heads up! :) I bet our trash was in the hallway on our cleaning days. That said, I do not think that housekeeping was responsible for a majority of the trash that we saw, given the time of day. Our room was about as far away from the main elevators as you can get, so we saw alot of it.

Thanks again for the response.

Hello everyone,

Just an FYI that the front desk INSTRUCTS people to leave their trash in the hall. We were told this was our only option when we asked what to do with our trash!

so the next time you think someone is being uncouth, remember that they might think they are doing the right thing.

Then they might want to rethink that instruction or have the housekeepers check the halls more frequently. There really was alot of garbage last week!

I am confused about the policy (what you are saying the front desk instructs guests to do). We were not aware of it, and if that is the policy why is there a trash chute available for guests? We were told to use the chute.

This year will our first stay at the BCV, but last year when we stayed at VWL I never saw trash in the hallway. I always took our trash to a room just for that, daily. I wonder if BCV have a room for trash. The one at VWL even had separate bins for recycling. I'll definitely check on it when we're at BCV in 3 weeks!

I have not been to the VWL, but the BCV set up sounds similar. I look forward to your trip report! Have a great time!

Glad to hear I am not the only "car insistant" peron. That was my biggest complaint with OKW. We gave up several times for the car. We actually only took the bus once.

Glad you had a great stay
Sandy

Glad to hear you had a good trip. BCV is my home, but since we booked late, I could only get BWV for our first trip home. Plus, I've got OKW booked for October. It may be next June before I'll get to offically go home for the first time.LOL

Thanks for the report!

We just returned yesterday also from BCV. We were there that Sunday morning waiting for the bus for EE. Just to reassure everyone, you must have just missed the bus. Two buses came within minutes of each other and had all of us at the park pretty quickly. We were in the park by 8:10 and were able to do every ride that we wanted to. Overall we were not thrilled with the bus service to MK ( a little spoiled by the monorail on previous trips), but were satisfied with transportation to the other parks.

We got to the bus stop at 7:10am. The park opened at 8am that morning. We waited 40 minutes and no bus. If you were there the same time as us and got into the park at 9:10, you missed the opening, extra magic hour, etc.

As I mentioned in my opening paragraph, there was a bus at the stop when we were driving out of the BC. I am glad if there was another bus after the too full one at the stop that we saw; however, by that time it was 8am, and the extra magic hour had started.

To wait 40 minutes and not have a bus arrive is unacceptable.

Oops, sorry! I meant we were in the park by 8:10. I completely agree that this is unacceptable, but I don't want people to panic if they don't have a car. We were upset that we missed those minutes, but we did not let it ruin the morning. I have been unhappy with buses in the past and continued to be unhappy this trip. I plan to write an email to WDW concerning the issue. Again, I completely agree with you, I just wouldn't panic if I had an upcoming trip.

Just a note, we had an early PS for CRT the next day and the bus picked us up at 7:25AM. Something must have happened the day before for the bus not to come until 7:50.

MJS,

Glad you enjoyed BCV so much! I wish our stay could be 10 days too!

There most definitely rooms at BCV that say "Trash and Recycling" on the door in big letters, and I know what they're for! However if people are being told "just leave it in the hall" they could conceivably think those rooms are only for the housekeeping staff.

We had a car and only used the bus once, also on a Sunday morning to MK early entry. We were told to catch the 7:30 bus. We did OK, but the poor schmoes at Boardwalk (the stop after ours) were mostly out of luck as we already had people standing in the aisle at BC. We squeezed on quite a few, putting children on laps, etc., but a lot of BWers were left behind. We arrived at MK precisely at 8:00. Even still it was unpleasant enough that we drove everywhere the rest of our trip. Another bus should have been be dispatched to BW and our bus should have gone directly to MK.
