DAY 1
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Portland Aiirport on Sat 10/27 and got the Fly/Park special for 89.00.It would have cost us at least this to park for 9 days. Had to drive from Eugene (2 hours away). Met 2 United pilots on the shuttle to the airport and we talked about WDW world and how great it was. I really feel for these guys and the stress they must have. Both where from the east coast and mostly fly the NY coridor. Got to the airport 2 hours early, waited in line about 30 minutes. Flew NWA first time, great flight. NO problems at all. Flights where all full. Layover in Minneapolis for 2 hours. Got to see Chicago from the air. Looked impressive. Got to MCO @ 7:00pm. Found "Magic of Disney" store no problem and got my AP. Not busy at all, and no wait. Got our luggage and went to find the Alamo shuttle. Had to wait 15 minutes or so. Got the Alamo place and no wait at all. Got a Mitsibushi Eclispe convertible for 199.00 a week. Great car and I think it was a better car than the Camaro convertable that I thought we would get. Got on the Bee Line and then to I-4 and had to pay 3 tolls I think. What is the deal with that ? East coast thing I guess. Got off on th AK exit and saw the big entrance with Mickey and the 100 year logo. VERY exciting. The Disney freeways are really nice and I like the purple signs. Got to the ASMO and got to the gate and the guard wanted my reservation letter. It was in the trunk in my luggae. He seemed kinda put out and told me to go ahead. Parked in the check in lot and went inside. The lobby was much bigger than I thought and loved the little theatre there for the kids. CM was very helpful and gave us our room # and it was a 3rd floor room overlooking the TS courtyard. Room 963. With a veiw of Woody. I sent a fax requesting 3rd floor TS and we got one of the best rooms. Second one from the corner closest to the big BUZZ. Got the luggae in the room. Headed out to grocery store and got lost. Ended up at the PUBLIX, but I don't know where. Got a cheap cooler for 3.99 and some basics. Got back to the resort and walked around to check it out. Late by this time and went to bed.
DAY 2
Went to the Florida Mall to get the 6 day passes for the family and our free 50.00 GC and tee shirts. Bought Christian his "Mike" costume for 39.99 and a TS twirly/light up thing...Don't know what they are really called.Got to MGM . Free parking w/ my AP
. It seemed busy for a Monday. No wait in any lines but the streets looked full. Went to Millionaire Show and it was cool. Did not get even close to getting in the top 10. The set looks identical. Went on Backlot tour, went to Pizza planet and then to Al's Toy Barn and got a Buzz singature/stamp.Muppets & then TOT and did the trade off. Christain was too scared, but walked right on. Missed the 3:00 parade, forgot
. Honey I Shruck the Kids Closed for rehab. Surprised. Indiana Jones was cool. Finished up with the Great Movie Ride. Went over to Epcot and did a few countries and sampled food. Very good! Watched the parade and Illunations and was amazed. This was probaly the best thing I saw on the entire trip. What a postive and uplifting experience. Tired and got back to the room. Christain started his smashed penny collection too. Lots of fun and cheap. Great first day.
