My DH and I just returned from a trip to WDW 10/25-11/1. We weren't on the DDP but we had ressies for Cape May Buffet for breakfast the morning of our anniversary, the Rose and Crown Pub and Le Cellier. The rest of the time it was CS and we actually were able to get into T-Rex on Thursday Oct 30th.

Breakfast at the CMB for breakfast great! We had a 9:35 ressie and checked in a little early and had to wait about 20 minutes for our table, they were quite crowded. Our waitress (her name escapes me, sorry) was great, busy but always kept our coffee and juice filled and always made sure our dirty plates were taken away. We had our anniversary buttons on and her and Donald had the room sing Happy Anniversary to us and gave us a chocolate mousse with a candle in it. The character interaction was good, we saw Donald, Goofy and Minnie dressed in their beach gear and they spent a little less time with us because we didn't have kids but took pictures with both of us. The food was good, hot and had a great variety. We would definitely go back.

We had a 7pm ressie for the R&C on Tuesday, the 28th. We checked in a little early and only had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. It was cold that day so we went to the pub instead of waiting outside and while I was waiting at a table and resting my feet, my DH went to order drinks and met a nice couple from Wisconsin who saw my DH's anniversary button and started a conversation and bought us drinks for our anniversary. We thought that was so nice. When our beeper went off, the CM originally put us at a table for 4 outside to the left of the pub. We really weren't happy with that because although they had the plastic up to keep out the cold, there was a cold draft coming from under our table and the tables out there are so close together and my DH and I are Pooh sized so we were a bit cramped. My DH actually said to her, you're kidding, right? The back of his chair was about an inch from the woman sitting behind him and that was before he actually tried to pull the chair out and sit down. I pulled my chair and table back to give him some room and I was practically sitting at the table behind us, there was a child sitting at the table and his chair was pushed a little towards his father so we had a little more roo. While we were looking over our menu, the CM came back over and said they made a mistake and put us at the wrong table and escorted us inside to a nice table for 2 right by the fireplace. Great! Much better. Our waitress was Allison and she was great. Great personality, fun, easy to talk to, efficient. My DH and I each ordered a drink and he ordered the cheese plate and I ordered a bowl of the potato leek soup as an appetizer since the mushroom appetizer that I was waiting to try had been taken off the menu :headache: and it was a great night for a bowl of soup. The cheese plate had I think 3 types of cheese, along with onion marmalade, candied walnuts and I think something else. My DH enjoyed it and said it was good. The potato leek soup was a big bowl and tasted great. Very smooth with pieces of leek. My DH ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the chicken breast. DH said the f&c was some of the best and most authentic he's ever had. A large portion and not greasy. My chicken breast was good, it came with an onion pudding (sort of like an onion bread pudding, different but good) and it had a light broth on it. Everything was spaced out nicely, we didn't feel rushed at all and spent a good amount of time there. We would definitely go back.

We had a 4pm ressie for Le Cellier on our last night, Friday the 31st. I called 180 days out and this was the only available time so we took it. Let me tell you, we will NOT be going back. :guilty: It was such a different experience since the last time we were there. We checked in a little early and since they started seating at 4pm for dinner, we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. A bunch of waiters came out and introduced themselves and my DH says to me, what are they going to do, sing? I said yea, probably Oh Canada. Having never been there for opening, we were joking and had no idea. They asked us to stand, asked the men to remove their hats and sang Oh Canada. :lmao: About 5 minutes later we were escorted to our table and told us our waiter would be Dave. The place was not crowded, a few people left over from lunch and a few people that had ressies at 4pm as well. The restaurant started to fill up while we were there. When I tell you we were in and out in an hour, I am not lying. We felt so rushed. Dave came over and introduced himself and explained where he was from, asked if we had been there before, which we had, 3 years ago and then he proceeded to explain how the menu had changed since we had been there last. He asked if we wanted drinks and I just ordered an ice tea and my DH was asking about the beers on the menu he'd never heard of. Dave explained each one and my DH made his choice. Now, Dave was nice and knowledgeable and checked in on us appropriately, but I thought he was a little pretentious and I felt like I was in school being talked down to. When he brought my DH's beer, he proceeded to explain the meaning of the name, where it came from, etc (it was La Fin Du Monde which he explained meant the end of the world and how the explorers thought they were going to the end of the world etc. Ok, thanks, just pour the beer.) We both ordered the cheddar beer soup as appetizers. The soup came out in about 5 minutes after being served our bread. The soup was fantastic as usual. About 5 minutes after finishing our soup (our bowls hadn't even been cleared yet) another waiter brought our main dishes. DH ordered the mushroom filet and I ordered the prime rib and asked to have the mashed potatoes substituted for the yukon gold roasted poatoes. We also ordered a side of the creamed au gratin spinach which was great. We both ordered our meat medium rare. We always order our meat this way. DH's filet was cooked perfectly. Mine..raw. I mean, REALLY raw. :scared1: I cut into it and said to my DH, huh, does this look raw to you and picked some of it up with my knife and fork and my DH said to me, the bottom isn't even cooked. Dave came over to check in on is and said, is everything ok? I said, um, my prime rib is raw. He says to me, it's slow roasted for 3 hours. :scared1: I said, ok, but look, I ordered it medium rare, it's raw, my husband ordered his filet medium rare and it looks nothing like his. He then says to me, medium rare is a warm pink center. By then I was annoyed and I said, yes, I know, I've been eating my meat medium rare for many years, I know what medium rare is..all he had to say to me was I'm sorry, I'll take it back and put it under for a little bit. He finally said he'd take it back. It came back a few minutes later and it was a littlel bit better but I ate it. We were full so we didn't order dessert. In and out in less than an hour. I don't know if it was because we were the first dinner seating, if it's the DDP that changed things and they try to shuffle as many people as possible in and out or what but we won't be back. The food was good but were turned off at being rushed. For paying over $100 oop with tip, not a great experience. We will try somewhere different next trip. Sad, but we actually had a better dining experience at T-Rex the night before!

We did the F&W fest one night at EPCOT as dinner, I had read on here about getting a gift card to pay and that was a great idea that worked great for us. I like the new way they have it set up, how you stand in like, pay first and then get your food or drink. We had our anniversary buttons on and a girl at the Puerto Rico booth gave us a free bread pudding. We thought that was very nice of her.

The rest of the time we had CS. Cosmic Ray's, always our favorite for burgers, we tried Wolfgang Puck Express for the first time and enjoyed it, good pizza. We went to T-Rex early, about 6pm on Thursday and were told it was only a 25 minute wait. After about 20 minutes, were called to the podium and waited about another 5 minutes until we were seated. We were seated in the ice cave room which was cool, it changed colors every few minutes. For only being open about 2 weeks, I was surprised at how good the food and service was. I can't remember our waitresse's name but she was very friendly and effecient and offered some suggestions from the menu since it was our first time there. We ordered the flatbread for an appetizer which was huge and delicious, DH ordered a burger and I ordered the ribs with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Both huge portions and very good. The mixed drinks are to die for. We didn't have room for dessert but walked around DTD later and then had ice cream at Ghirardelli. The only draw back was that it's LOUD. Not a good place for a nice romantic dinner! :rotfl:

All in all, it was a great trip with great food and we can't wait to go back!

Thanks for the reviews.

Sorry to hear about your experience at Le Cellier. Just curious, but how did you feel "rushed" during your experience? Was it something the server did or said, or was it the pace at which your meal arrived? You ordered an appetizer and an entree each, but no dessert, and spent about an hour there? That seems reasonable, but I'm wondering if there wasn't something else?

It just seemed like our food came out in record pace. Our soups came out about 5 minutes after we ordered and then about 2 minutes after we finished our soups, the entrees came out. We are used to a little time between ordering and the appetizer coming out, and then after that is cleared, some time before the entree coming out. I realize we didn't order dessert, but up here, generally the waiter will put in the appetizer order and then later put in the entree order so that it's spaced out more. We didn't order dessert because we felt so full, probably because we didn't have any time between our soup and our entree. We were definitely there longer 3 years ago and that's why my DH wanted me to make ressies there again this trip because we had such a good experience there last time. Don't get me wrong, the food was good other than having to have my prime rib sent back but we just felt more rushed this time. I guess we are just used to dinner being a little bit more leisurely even without ordering dessert. Plus with my prime rib coming out raw..At T-Rex, we didn't have dessert and we were definitely there longer than an hour. And it wasn't like we waited a long time between meals either because they were busy or crowded..

wow, sorry about your experience at le cellier - the food sounded good at R&C (great they moved you near the fireplace - warmth, too!)

Fair enough. The last time we went to Chefs de France the server delivered our appetizers and before we were even finished with them another server brought out our entrees. Our original server came by and could see how inappropriate and so-not-French this was, and then told us to "take our time." I didn't bother telling him to remove the entrees because we only would have received the same ones back 10-15 minutes later and they would have been cold. In addition, four plates and glasses on a two-top table nearly tipped the whole thing over. It was an inconvenient nightmare.

I have no doubt the restaurants in the parks are expected to rush service to turn over the tables; there is a definite difference in my mind between those and the resort restaurants. On our next trip we are going to both CDF and LC, and you can be sure neither location will get away with rushing us along.

Fool me once...

I know, since I've joined I got alot of great tips on this board and I used them when we were there and they helped alot. One I forgot was I probably should have told the waiter, we aren't in a hurry.
