Just ate at T-Rex restaurant

My son and I just got home from Disney. We ate at the T-Rex restaurant on Monday night. We got there around 7:00 p.m. There was only a fifteen minute wait. We were seated in the ice cave section of the restaurant. It really is the "coolest" part of the restaurant. If you can, request that section. There are animatronic dinosaurs throughout. Every twenty minutes or so, there is a meteor shower. The ice cave turns from icy blue to fiery red when that happens. The theming is a step up from their Rainforest Cafe restaurant, in my opinion. The food was surprisingly good. Usually at these places you go more for the attraction than the actual food., but it was really delicious. I'm a vegetarian, and there were several options on the menu. I had the Tomato Soup and Triassic Tortellini. I didn't save room for the massive dessert that they have. It is this huge dish of ice cream, brownie, etc. surrounding a smoking volcano. My son enjoyed his Corn Dog kid's meal. He also was very impressed with their new restaurant

Is the food similar to Rainforest Cafe? If so, I think we will pass. We never have had good experiences with RCs food. We have one close by us and we've tried several times, but nope. Can't eat there anymore. Just not good. I hope T-Rex is different.

I've never been really impressed with Rainforest Cafe food either. Even though both restaurants are owned by the same company, the food at T-Rex was better.

I agree with Wall-E1: I really enjoyed my dinner there, so did my wife and we are both looking forward to going back again. I've heard people say that the quality of the dining experience is often dictated by the management of the restaraunt. I don't know if that's right or not, but everything we had was delicious and the service was perfect!

We intend to try the T-Rex when we go down next year.

I certainly hope it is better than the RC as people are saying, because while i have generally enjoyed the few times we went to RC, our last experience was a nightmare. The waitress was MIA, the food all came out at practically the same time - appetizers and minutes later, our main courses. It was overly crowded and we sat by one of the fish tanks at a 2 person table that was right next to a major lane of foot traffic. Lastly the food was just ...eh. Not what I had remembered.

::Keeping fingers crossed::

Rob :)

Not to change the subject but we always have good food at RF. We only eat at the DD RF but we always have good food. Maybe because we always get the same thing each year. The spicy pasta and ribs. Look forward to trying T-Rex.
