Just Arrived, Triple Dipping

It really is the responsibility of the cm who is weirdly waving people through without scanning anything or looking at other documentation to do their jobs correctly. Lets not change yet another thing just because some CMs are doing things wrong.

Best laugh we had on our recent stay was when we decided to take a cab back from HS to CSR.

The cab driver, after what seemed like the third CM he had to roll his window down for during the short trip, made the comment:

"Day give dem dees scanny things, now all dem want to do is scan something with day scanny things".

Cracked us up.

I was just there the 1st week of Dec and I definitely got a parking pass for my resort..the POP..I showed it at every park, even though I had bands. If you know you don't have free parking any longer and are honest, you have money or credit card in hand to pay..There would be no reason for the attendent to guess if you have free parking...so ..I say lying by omission is still lying. I hope POR is not as bad as some of you say, because that's where I'm going next time...I have GOT to have a bigger room and bed. And the triple dipping...........well...I guess I have to direct my anger at Disney, because it made me very angry that I did not have fp- privileges when everyone else did...I felt punished being at POP..It should be all or none...Why exclude one group like that...I mean , no fp- AND Pop Warner..never again....I will say I had problems with my mb opening my room and after the 3rd call and running down to the desk a few times..I got a card...no fp strip..but they did comp me 100.00 off my bill....so complain..the squeeky wheel (or the woman who looks like she is getting ready to burst into tears) gets the grease.

If I ever find myself working the parking gate at WDW and waive someone thru because I see they are wearing a MB and mistakenly assume they are staying at a resort, I sure hope it's you! :)

Idk if we're following each other. If I was staying off site I would stop and pay for parking. That's all I'm saying. The op knows they don't get free parking anymore. It's not about the cm's.

Yes that's my point exactly. Also, we stayed at POR in alligator Bayou for a week in Feb/Mar 2012 for the Princess Half and our room and stay were great! I can assure you if I found pubes in the tub I would have gotten some money off my stay.

I was complimenting your honesty. If I were waiving you thru because I assumed you were staying onsite, and you corrected me by volunteering that you weren't and here's the $$ for parking, you may have very well saved my job.

Lol! See I knew I wasn't following bahaha. You know, new mommy brain is no joke. I asked my husband where they found the people on a bank commercial the other day. He goes "they're actors.........."

Some people wear halos at the front door and take them off at the back.

Lol. I never claimed to be an angel, I'm quite human ;-) I said we all have our own moral compass to guide us. The main reason I commented was because I was surprised to see this thread going strong. Would I scam free parking, no. If you want to resort to minor personal attacks go for it. :thumbsup2

I have never had a problem with POR, but I do agree that the cost is awfully high, even at a discounted rate. It wasn't all that long ago I stayed there off-season (end of Oct., maybe 2007 or 2008) for under $100. Now I think about the cheapest rate you'll find with discounts is right around $140 per night.

Have to LOLOLOL at the thread title.

Talk about bait to get posters all riled up and frothing. There it is.

Ok. The op knows he isn't entitled to free parking. He is scamming free parking. I think it's dishonest. Ymmv. That's all I'm saying.

I happen to agree with you here, but I can understand others having been raised with a different moral compass.

Has the OP considered not wearing his MB until getting to the turnstiles?

It wasn't an attack. I was simply adding to your list of what some people do.

Magic Bands are, well...magical. I'd never take it off. :thumbsup2

I think it was the M&M's left over in the room at POR, or maybe he is just unhappy he paid rack rate, and brags about it. I guess you have try and save a few bucks on parking.

I wonder how many days' worth of free parking he'd have to get to feel he paid a 'fair' price for his room :rotfl:

We certainly never had that experience or impression from our stay there (or had/have heard similar concerns raised), but if it was me I would have went down to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager to move to another room or come with me to show him/her the situation. WDW is pretty good and fair in dealing with these types of concerns and very willing to assist.

Yes, I agree with you, I have always had a great experience at POR. The rooms were recently refurbished last year I think? I can't imagine it being "run down". It does sound like you (OP) had some bad luck with your room being clean. We had that at the BC one time as well. Ghetto is not a word I would ever use to describe ANY resort at WDW. To each their own I do suppose.

I'm not really sure how I'm bragging about the price I paid. In retrospect, I'm embarrassed I was duped into it.

I don't expect everyone to accept my perspective but I do think people can disagree with civility. When I booked the room and trip generally, I recognized there would be terms and conditions. I also have my own terms and conditions. When I get ripped off my concern for the offending company's bottom line dwindles. I think Disney owed me a clean, well kept room for $230. They didn't deliver without being asked specifically. Some may think I owe them for parking, and if they ask, I'll deliver.

I'd also like to remind people that I didn't ask to be invited to test MBs. I accepted and as a result I've discovered some issues. One of those is that there parking lot attendants, en masse, assume MB wearers are staying onsite. To the point that my vehicle has yet to come to a stop at the gate prior to being waved through. Presumably Disney accepts some risk in inviting people to test their new system. I haven't hidden the issues I've discovered, quite the opposite. In fact, I operate a consumer review website and will post the results of the test and send a link to Disney.

Have I chosen to halt my vehicle in clear disobedience of the direction given by the CM? Nope. I realize this portion of the test is to my benefit just like triple dipping. I'll wait till they close that loophole and I won't feel the least bit bad about it. I didn't read a term or condition that said any portion of the test that advantages the tester must be refused and reported. Lucky too since I also discovered how to ride the same ride twice with FP+ today at AK.

not to go against the grain but I am sitting in POR room right now and I really miss staying offsite. I was just discussing how much I miss a good Marriott in comparison to POR. Until they spruce up the beds, get a microwave, etc, etc, POR is a poor version of a moderate normal national chain hotel. It is a good thing we all love the parks so much. This will be likely our last onsite stay.

I would not feel guilty. Disney doesn't care about you as a person they only care about your dollars. Fastpass plus is a debacle. I am at the parks this week and there has not been one day without issue. I cannot see how Disney expects this system to work reasonably well within the next few yrs.
