Just Announced on the ABC News

Looks like they will be enforcing the times to me.

If you call Disneyland and ask them if Hotel guest can use magic mornings any day its offered they will tell you to ask the hotel desk when you arrive.

Even though it has been the policy for years it is not an official public policy... it is an internal policy.

Same with Fastpass returns. Public policy states that there is a return time. Therefore any questions about fastpass will state that.

Internal 'written' DM guidence manuals tell them to accept late fastpasses. Someone posted a picture of the official internal rules a while back. Until that changes I'm not too worried about any changes.

Will the person who starts the 100th thread on this topic get a prize?

Sounds like some sloppy journalism. I get so annoyed when the media act like Disneyland and WDW are the same thing.

Until I hear from people in Disneyland being told of the FP change and being turned away, I'm not going to sweat it. I have enough to worry about with how to see Carsland this summer.

As for XPass and the NextGen system - it sounds atrocious to me. Making ride reservations 6 months in advance the same way one makes dining reservations? Yuck! What a way to regiment your day. As if their ADR system is not enough where you have to choose which parks or hotel restaurants you will be at months in advance. Having some people who pay more to stay in a nicer hotel receive more front-of-the-line privileges at the parks? Big mistake for Disney IMO and something that would create negative feelings from other guests.

I don't see the issues that you're describing ever coming to fruition. We were at WDW in February (before FP enforcement started) and a lot of the stuff described is already available, it just isn't on a wristband but on the KTTW card or the photopass card. As for having to plan your rides 6 months in advance? I don't see that necessity anywhere. The article mentioned the future possibility of being able to get a FP before you go on vacation, but I don't think they'd let you get an unlimited number of FPs that way, and they still only put out a certain number of FPs per day, does it really matter when they're obtained? I have never seen anyone in a standby line have bad feelings about people in the FP line, we all know that we can get a FP too, if we choose not to, that's our problem.

I also don't see most of this stuff arriving at DLR anytime soon. They're still way behind WDW even on just the biometrics at the turnstile. I have to say I really liked that, because I know that if I lost my ticket someone else would not be able to pick it up and use it before I got my replacement.

I also don't mind folks who pay for on-property hotels getting extra perks. If I paid that much for a room I'd want extra stuff too. At least at WDW the moderate room we stayed in was not nearly as nice as the regular hotel room we stayed in the night before we flew to Orlando, and the rack rate was about double.

I guess the moral is, no matter what changes they make in future, it's still Disneyland. And we will all still go because of the way being there makes us feel. There's no need to worry about what's coming down the pike, it will happen regardless of our personal feelings about it. And if they try it and it doesn't work, they'll get rid of it.

I'm not going to get involved in the whole FP debate but here is the link to the story on ABC7 from March 8th

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/orange_county&id=8574707

Not much to the report, but here's what they said

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- The next time you visit Disneyland or any other Disney theme park, keep a close eye on your FASTPASS ticket time.

A Disney spokesperson said park employees are reminding guests about their existing policy limiting guests to times printed on the FASTPASS tickets.

Each FASTPASS ticket lists a one hour window during which you can get into a shorter line for some of the more popular rides. If the time has passed, plan to get a new FASTPASS, or get into the longer line.

It should be noted that ABC7 is owned by Disney.

I personally have enjoyed using my FP later in the day at both parks. Enforcement of the policy won't keep me away for either. I do visit WDW in lower season so FP aren't usually needed.

I think the only way we will EVER know for sure if when someone actually goes and gets a fp like the ones at DW that say they are enforcing it. Until then I don't think it is anything to worry about.

I must say I am bummed that they are even doing it at DW because we usually stay in a timeshare when we go because we have a large group and it is just easier AND cheaper. My mom and I both have bad knees and can't get around real quick but not bad enough to need a wheelchair or scotter just yet. But it was nice to know that when we were going around the parks we could collect a fastpass and then hit that ride later in the day when we were back there. I know a lot of people say it is no big deal but sometimes you have to return much later in the day or even a few hours later and it isn't always feasible to "hang out" in that area. I know we usually go from ride to ride in a pattern and if a ride we want is busy we get a fast pass so that later in the day WHEN we are back in that area we ride it. This would now mean you would have to basically stay in that general area or if it is for MUCH later then make sure it doesn't interfere with your dinning or other plans.

Just my own opinion but I truly hope that this goes over like a lead balloon and that it goes back to the old way.

I have friends in the park at Disneyland right now. I have emailed them to check into this and as soon as I hear back I will let you know.

However, I learned long ago to "never say never."

Folks at WDW are getting plenty of warning so if it came to DLR it would not be like "you showed up late with your FP! Too bad, so sad!"

See this blog item to see how it is being communicated at WDW:

I do not want to speak for Ski, but it sounds like the response here was all in relation to the current FP window enforcement at WDW and that no one has seen anything discussed like this for DLR. So it is fair to say that as far as we know there is no plan to bring this to DLR.

Further, since the erroneous news reports have been bouncing around then some like Ski may have felt compelled to try to shoot them down with stronger language.
I am not speaking just narrowly to THIS thread. Anytime, anyone has posted ANYTHING about FP reinforcement issues recently, skiingfast as very adamantly stated it is not happening at DLR. I was asking if he could please explain why he is so very sure of this.

In general I would not...For more info on NextGen and XPass see...
I'm fully up to date on reading about all that you wrote about above.

...With regular FP you do but you had the same chance they did to get a FP. With XPass people are paying to walk past you in line. That bothers me.
Interesting. Why does this bother you? It's no different than any other special tour, seating, meal opportunities. If you want to buy it, it's yours.

Here is the main problem. When you post something of interest on the DIS, many Dissers read it, and many more lurkers too. The DIS is a great DL and WDW planning site. I like that quality of the DIS and want to protect and contribute to it.

While everyone can make a mistake, so many people rely on the DI. The more accurate the information the better.

As for the FP situation.
1. On the Hub a internal website for CMs, the WDW part of it announced that FP would not be accepted late starting on March 7. Only the WDW part of it. Nothing about DLR.

2. Newsites picked up on this and word spread. Inaccurately they said all Disney parks or DLR and WDW. Something never stated by Disney. The information directly from Disney only pertained to WDW.

3. DLR FP attraction CMs began to confirm they had not heard of this from an official source.

4. March 7 rolls around and there were only changes in WDW.

5. When I see anything officially sourced I will say so, but it hasn't happened for DLR and there is no timeline of when it will.

My bottom line is I don't want rumors spread that effects planner's ability to plan.

why.. back in my day, we didn't have fast passes.. we walked up hill both ways and stood in line for the attractions and we loved it! We didn't have a bunch of strollers clogging up the park either, but that's for another thread.. :cool1:

Sorry but we've personally experienced and I've read numerous comments on these boards (WDW and DL) over the years where people in standby DO get upset and either throw dirty looks or say something rude about FP people going by. The upset people either comment loudly to their family so the FP people hear it or they even at times directly say something rude TO the FP people going by. I will admit it probably happens more at WDW since they get so many international and first time visitors (and more visitors in overall numbers) where DL is more locals who are in the know.

Even though those of us on the boards know a lot AND the maps at the parks explain FP - there are still quite a lot of people who know nothing about FP and often mistakenly think those in FP line are paying extra for the privilege, are "connected" to someone important or somehow are special to get to be in the FP line.

Please ignore if this is too off topic but I have been wondering for awhile if the newer Jedi Training procedure at WDW is part of Next Gen. I was struck by this when we visited DL last Fall. At WDW, kids now sign up fot Jedi Training in the morning, they are not picked out of the crowd.

Knowing nothing anything about WDW but do go to DLR I have never had anyone say anything to me or my family even when the lines are next to each other like Indy and really who cares if they look at you with any kind of look, I always smile. Rule #6.
The people you are talking about do no research, they just go, which I do not understand and have no empathy when people do things blindly. But that is there choice some folks just like to wing it.

I agree. I can care less if someone is upset because I used FP and they didn't.

I figured you were and was providing info for the general reader of this thread.

Not sure, I just do. At a certain point, at Disney parks it smacks of a class system and it seems out of place there.

The closest analogy of how I feel - and it may be a poor analogy - I just thought it up - is how the New York Yankees buy up all the best players because of their wealth. This kind of ruins the game of baseball for me and I never enjoy watching their games because it seems like a tilted field.

Yes, children are sometimes preselected for training, but it requires a blood sample with a high midichlorian count. ;)

I would think that it bother's you for the same reasons it bother's many, this thought of paying to ride faster then other's.

It does create a class system within the parks, and to many, myself included that is very uspsetting.

It is one thing in regards to the hotels, you cannot afford this hotel or that hotel okay, but once we all went into the parks, we are all on the same playing field so to speak. Now the tours are a different matter, they do offer some perks, but it is not an all day kinda thing.

Should this x-gen pass come to be in the form of paying to be at the front of the line, well, I hope it does not turn out that way.

With fastpass we all have the opportunity to get one or not, it is not dependent on how much money you have so to speak.

I was glad to see the signup thing at the Studios last month. I would imagine it is so stressful for kids trying to be picked over and over and not making it. Other kids perhaps getting selected time and again. (I saw this at Harry Potter land with the wand selection ceremony thing, the kid was not so interested because he had done it before...)

Can't we all just agree to stop worrying about this unless the FP return times are actually enforced at DLR?
