Just Announced on the ABC News

I always returned within the window anyways, I dont see what all the hub-bub (Love that word) is :-)

...Not sure, I just do. At a certain point, at Disney parks it smacks of a class system and it seems out of place there.

The closest analogy of how I feel - and it may be a poor analogy - I just thought it up - is how the New York Yankees buy up all the best players because of their wealth. This kind of ruins the game of baseball for me and I never enjoy watching their games because it seems like a tilted field.

I would think that it bother's you for the same reasons it bother's many...it is not dependent on how much money you have so to speak.

I asked the question because there are a lot of things in the Park that are not "equal," based on money and they don't seem to be topics that are a -- hmmm, what's the word -- concern, so I find the cold reception on the xpass to be interesting.

Tours give all sorts of advantages.
Hotel packages offer advantages.
Special experiences, like Fantastmic! Reserved Seating have advantages.

All of these cost money. And the list goes on and on. If you buy them, you have additional perks that others don't, and quite possibly cannot afford. I guess I just view xpass as another "extra" experience on the list. You can purchase if you want, or you can choose to enjoy the park without it.

Sounds like some sloppy journalism. I get so annoyed when the media act like Disneyland and WDW are the same thing.
Until I hear from people in Disneyland being told of the FP change and being turned away, I'm not going to sweat it. I have enough to worry about with how to see Carsland this summer.

OR...have the Sherman Brothers be one..our local paper had a very nice write up obituary for ROBERT Sherman with a picture of RICHARD..sheesh..my friend was pretty upset as we have seen Richard many times at D23 events..It's getting hard to believe anything the press puts out.

Knowing nothing anything about WDW but do go to DLR I have never had anyone say anything to me or my family even when the lines are next to each other like Indy and really who cares if they look at you with any kind of look, I always smile. Rule #6.
The people you are talking about do no research, they just go, which I do not understand and have no empathy when people do things blindly. But that is there choice some folks just like to wing it.

Jack
I agree %100! I have no idea how people can spend so much money and just "wing it". The first thing I did in 2008 when we decided we would go to DL for my 30th birthday was Google Tips and Tricks for Disneyland and I found this board! That is why it is important not to spread rumors on here like skiing said because so many people do use these boards to plan.

I figured you were and was providing info for the general reader of this thread.

I couldn't agree more! I don't think Walt ever intended for his park to only be for the "few" who could afford it!
Can't we all just agree to stop worrying about this unless the FP return times are actually enforced at DLR?
Agreed! That's how live my life! Nothing you can do about it until it happens or in this case ifit happens! I agree with the point that DL doesn't do everything that WDW does so there is a big possibility that it won't happen.

But none of them impact the rides times as much as this could depending how they implemented it.

Over the past week in DL I had conversations with CMs b/c I was curious as well and all confirmed they have no information or rumors of it coming to DL. They also phrased it that you could return after the first time listed. Very specific wording that they all used exactly the same when asked. :)

Personally, I think DL is safe for a while at least!

We have been here since wednessday and have been in the park the 8th and 9th. They haven't started enforcing it yet.

Thanks for the feedback!

We were at DLR at the end of last month/beginning of this month. I had only one issue about using a fp late. Maybe the CM was annoyed, or having a bad day, but I was told (paraphrasing), "It won't be very much longer that you can come back HOURS after your FP time and get in! We're going to start enforcing it soon!" I smiled back, and said, "That's why we're here now, and not later!" So, I took that (personally) as there being some talk about doing it at DLR... or maybe the CM had read something online that was really about WDW? :)

Thank you so much for the update! We are going to be in the parks next week and I have been worried about this! :worship:

Hey Jack, no offense but I don't think many people would dare say something to YOU. ;)

I agree about the research thing. Just stating that there are a LOT of people who don't research, so sometimes some get upset when they see something they perceive as unfair.

I agree. I can care less if someone is upset because I used FP and they didn't.

It isn't a big deal to me either but to say it doesn't happen is just not the case. That was my only point.

I am sure it goes on, but it is their problem, not mine or anyone else's.

LOL, I do not think of my self the way I guess some people do. I am just an old man who has enjoyed Disney for many, many years.

Jack

At the parks today and no mention of not accepting late fast passes, nor anything on the fast pass tix themselves.

Hey, you changed your photo from the tough biker dude to something I can't quite figure out.

You were quoting me, and I actually didn't say it doesn't happen. I said I'd never seen it happen. There's a bit of a difference.

I had the same experience today, Sat. March 10. Late returns of FPs were being accepted at Disneyland. Granted, I only tried it with one FP, since I used my other FP during the actual window. But there was no signage at the machines, nor added text on the FPs themselves that we've seen on the WDW FPs as of March 7. So everyone should feel pretty confident that the news media didn't get all the details correct in their stories earlier this week.

I really think they lumped all Disney parks together--or at least the US parks. They had a source saying that FP return times were being enforced at WDW, and jumped to the (incorrect) conclusion that they must be being enforced at DL also.

This may have already been posted, but...

Fox News posted the following last Thursday: http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2012/03/08/disney-cracks-down-on-fastpass-enforcement/

Disney cracks down on FastPass
enforcement

Disney says it's going to boost enforcement of its popular FASTPASS
reservation service.

Disney's free FASTPASS reservation system allows guests to come back
to a ride at a specified time within a one-hour window if they don't want to
wait.

Disney World and Disneyland have been letting visitors come back
any time after that window and still be admitted to the FastPass line. Now
Disney says it is putting an end to any wiggle room.

...

Josh at easyWDW.com posted the following last Wednesday: http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorized/the-beginning-of-fastpass-enforcement-or-something/#more-7403

In Josh's post, he posted a photo of an Epcot Times Guide, which includes the following reminder about FastPass:
Disney's FASTPASS Service Reminder
To ensure you have the best experience possible, please remember to return to
FASTPASS attractions within your return time window (printed on FASTPASS tickets)

And Josh also posted a photo of a new FastPass (from March 7, 2012), which includes the following statement:

Not able to
accommodate
late arrivals.

This Soarin' FastPass is from Epcot. Photo by Josh.

FWIW, Josh also says that the following sign is now posted at the FastPass machines at WDW:

This photo of the FastPass machine is from WDW. Photo by Josh.

Josh's post is about FastPass at WDW, and he doesn't say anything about FastPass at DLR.

This is just an FYI. Please don't shoot the messenger. :earsboy:

Something I've noticed that the media and WDW people do: They say "Disney" when they really mean "Walt Disney World". I'll be reading an article in the paper and I'm thinking Disneyland until I realize what they are saying doesn't match up. Then I realize they mean WDW only. I don't know why this is, but I see it all the time. Just go look at the WDW forums. I always distiguish between the two, but it seems for the east coast and the east coast news agencies, anything Disney means WDW. :confused3 If you read that news blurp someone posted above you can see how they do this and why confusion happens.

As someone else said, I was at the park yesterday and used ST fastpasses twice(which is another story) well past the window on the ticket.

My bottom line is I don't want rumors spread that effects planner's ability to plan.
I have a slightly different take on the situation. A few here might remember Tino. Tino booked his trip based on the Matterhorn being up and running. Despite some saying "It is supposed to go down for refurb", Tino kept calling Disneyland, who right up until the last minute, told him "Oh no, it will be running, don't worry about it."

I have heard from several sources it will be happening. I would rather people be aware when planning it may happen, than show up at the park and go "Disboards told me NO WAY!"

Excellent point Malcon. :)
