It was just announced on the ABC News that Disneyland began enforcing the FP times today. :scared1:
I personally do not have a problem with this. I think it will be real easy to adjust to this. :tink:

I saw this, too. I'm going to WDW later this month and I'm worried they'll start enforcing FP times there. We'll be there during spring break, so having strict enforcement of the times would really impact our trip because the return times could be all over the place and we have specific dining times.

I preferred the old system because of the convenience. I don't really feel it impacted the lines because it's the same number of FP going through, regardless of when. But I can't complain, either, since FPs are free and save everyone from waiting in lines.

WDW started a while ago. There is another thread about this. Maybe you can give me the link where is states Disneyland will be doing this. I just read 20+ articles and they all address the World, not Disneyland.

Thanks

I dont think this will effect me as I never thought about going before or after my fast pass time. It was just automatic to me to go in the time window on the FP.

CBS in LA says so.

Notice the film during the FP part is WDW's MK. Then about Cars Land they use "new" DCA footage. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Here is thier USA Today source information that they failed to link.

Introduced in 1999 as a way to minimize wait times at popular attractions, Disney's free FastPass reservation system has proven to be a savvy park-goer's salvation. Though FastPass tickets for Walt Disney World and Disneyland have always specified a return time within a one-hour window, many visitors realized they could come back any time after that window and still be admitted to the FastPass line with little or no wait.Visitors head down a hill on Walt Disney World's Spalsh Mountain, one of the attractions that issues FastPass tickets.

But as of this week, Disney watchers say, that wiggle room is evaporating.

"Walt Disney World is now enforcing both the beginning and end times, allowing guests holding a (FastPass) to only return during the one-hour window stated on the slip. And though it will affect regulars who know how to use the leniency to their advantage, most Walt Disney World guests already do return during the designated time window and likely won't notice much of a difference," writes Ricky Brigante

Stop Spreading unfounded rumors. There are no changes at DLR, or planned to come to DLR at this time. None.

I remember a year or two ago the news was talking about a Disney story and they kept mentioning Disneyland when in fact they were talking about Disneyworld. The media thinks everything is the same so they loosely use words like "land" and "world".

Hasn't really been awhile at WDW- the enforcement just started yesterday (March 7), but it has definitely started.

I am happy to hear the enforcement at DL hasn't started just yet.

My bad,got the impression from another post that it had been rolling along with a pic of the ticket.

Gotta love the media and how they lump all "Disney" parks together. Based on the stories and links that skiingfast posted above, this is my guess on how the misinformation spreads.

1. The Inside the Magic site posts a story about the FP enforcement at Walt Disney World (Florida).
2. USA Today picks up the story originally posted by Inside the Magic. In fact, they quote large chunks from Inside the Magic with appropriate credit. The USA Today article does not mention Disneyland FP enforcement. They only mention that Disneyland also has FP.
3. Other media outlets (including ABC, CBS and FOX) come across the USA Today story and begin posting their own articles and/or on-air stories about FP enforcement. However, these other outlets begin leaving out details from the original story and assume (incorrectly) that Disneyland is adopting the same enforcement rules as Walt Disney World. So now, these news outlets have stories that DL is enforcing FP return times.

It's a classic example of whispering a secret to the person next to you. And that person whispers the same secret to the person next to them and so on. When the last person in line is asked to say the secret, it's usually evolved into something different from the original secret.

If there's a silver lining for any of this, it slowly gets the word out that FP return time enhancement has started at WDW and people might expect that it's coming to DL. Personally, I feel that the writing is on the wall for DL. But that's just a personal opinion. Officially, there is no FP return time enforcement at DL. :goodvibes

There is no "yet." There are no plans currently in place to enforce at Disneyland.

Mmmkay, so...

I haven't been online much today and was just coming here to post the video from KCAL-9 that skiingfast has already linked because:

1) It says it's coming to Disneyland.
2) It has footage of WDW.
3) It talks about Carsland, but shows the entrance from DCA days-gone-by.

My head hurts.

Can you share why you are so hard-line adamant that this is not coming to DLR (or planned to do so)? Thanks!

I do not want to speak for Ski, but it sounds like the response here was all in relation to the current FP window enforcement at WDW and that no one has seen anything discussed like this for DLR. So it is fair to say that as far as we know there is no plan to bring this to DLR.

Further, since the erroneous news reports have been bouncing around then some like Ski may have felt compelled to try to shoot them down with stronger language.

In general I would not be surprised if they do start enforcing FP windows at DLR. And I would not be surprised if they don't. Some knowledgable folks on the WDW forum seem quite convinced that the enforcement there is completely or almost completely due to the coming XPass system whereby WDW resort hotel guests can book ride reservations far in advance like they can dining reservations. To make XPass work it seems like FP window enforcement is more important.

Since DLR caters to a different group of visitors - many more day trippers and many more locals - and has far fewer resort hotels - the idea of XPass at DLR seems much less workable. Therefore the importance of enforcing FP windows is just not there.

I think some of the folks around here - probably Ski included - understand this and come down on the side of it not making sense for DLR. And with no rumors about DLR out there then it just seems to be a non-issue.

As for XPass and the NextGen system - it sounds atrocious to me. Making ride reservations 6 months in advance the same way one makes dining reservations? Yuck! What a way to regiment your day. As if their ADR system is not enough where you have to choose which parks or hotel restaurants you will be at months in advance. Having some people who pay more to stay in a nicer hotel receive more front-of-the-line privileges at the parks? Big mistake for Disney IMO and something that would create negative feelings from other guests.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a planner, but this is ridiculous. It will likely keep me from ever going to WDW. Just seems like too much work for vacation. I like the ease and laid backness of DLR. The thought of XPass gives me hives.

I couldn't agree more! I'm obsessive about planning hotels, car rentals, airfare, etc. but this is way too much even for me. I enjoy planning the trip but when I get to DLR, I just want to be spontaneous and enjoy the parks.

I agree the XPass thing sound horrific..but they already do a small version of giving those who pay more to stay on site better access..granted, it's not a big in your face thing, but onsite guests do have advantages of: MM multiple days depending on how days visiting, early entry to DCA from the Grand entrance (this could become huge when Carsland opens) and they have started giving, certain times of year, Magic Fastpasses, 2 to each guest, useable on any ride at any time. So they are at least dipping their toe in this idea. I have a freind who wnet to Universal in Orlando for HP World and stayed at the hotel that got you in early and she said that was really the only way to be able to get through the HP rides in a reasonable way. Who knows what they might do with CarsLand? Maybe they'll do some sort of early entry for onsite guests there (I can only imagine the awful line at the Grand if they did this..it is already kinda too much some mornings) and pretty much guarantee full capacity at premium rates for all three onsite hotels.

When I watch the news and report what they said I would not call that a rumor. You may. This was announced yesterday (ABC News out of LA) just before I posted what I heard. The footage was in front of Star Tours at the Fastpass return.
Wow, skiingfast did I hit a nerve? "Don't shoot the messenger!" :tink:

The simple fix seems to be can someone actually living in the area or visting the parks confirm what is happening at DisneyLand or DCA.

We are coming out in two weeks for our Spring Break trip, but the amount of hyperbole right now is maddening.

Until we see a picture of a Disneyland FP with that information, its just rumor for me.

It is a bit of a slippery slope and it is Disney's property so they can do whatever they want. With early entry (EMH at WDW) the difference is that you do not see folks walking past you in line. With regular FP you do but you had the same chance they did to get a FP. With XPass people are paying to walk past you in line. That bothers me.

I went to USH maybe 6 years ago and they offered a premiere ticket with FOL priviliges and it just irked me after standing in line with my kids for an hour for the lame Jurassic Park ride and see those folks walking past with FOL pass. Yes, I could have bought it. But it was like $130 for the day per person and we had 6.

It would irk me at DLR a bit as well. Well, more than a bit. A lot.
