That got cancelled this morning :(
We added DD onto a contract.....Boulder Ridge. We had a 12 night stay in December. Got an email this morning that says it has been cancelled.
I know it is a new deed, still has the same member number.
And of course, no rooms anywhere for that time frame.....a day here and there, but I am too old to hop all over the place.
I called. Nice CM, but she couldn't fine anything either.....other than days here and there and gaps.
I am on a wait list, but know for that long of a stay it won't come through.
I need to use some of the points that were banked, so we're going to try January when the 7 months come....looked now and all studios are booked at BR.
Our AP expires mid January, so want to get something in before then.

Thanks for letting me vent......

What is a DD? Did they say why they cancelled the reservation? Do they even admit to cancelling the reservation? I mean if you have confirmation number and they cancelled it, I would ask politely to speak to a manager and find out exactly what happened.

Oh wow. That really sucks. I don't think I would expect the contract to reset and cancel all reservations.

I know "DD" as dear daughter. Not sure if there is another meaning.

Always thought it was Disney Daughter. I get so confused by all the acronyms in general. Even ride ones. I've been going for 50 years to WDW and occasionally I have to look up an acronym...especially a ride one but sometimes even restaurants that I've actually been to. So much stress nowadays.

I would call and speak to MA about it, When we added our adult kids to our membership, we did not lose our reservations.

Maybe there is something behind the scenes that will still have it held for you and needs to be out back.

DD is my daughter......yes, there was a new deed drawn up to add here name. The points reset and reservation was cancelled.
I was warned somewhere here on the DIS that that might happen.
I did call MS..........she tried but being Dec. nothing left.

We're going to get something in Dec.

I'd try calling MS again and ask for a supervisor. That just isn't right. Were you booked in a studio? If so, I'd be insisting on a cash room at WL if they can't get your original reservation back. It was their mistake. They should fix it, and making you rely on wait lists that might not materialize and bouncing around from split stay to split stay is not fixing it.

I would also try emailing member relations:

member.relations@disneyvacationclub.com

I'm sorry this happened to you and hoping for a better outcome.

I've been going through the probate process after my parents passed away late last year - to merge their points over to me - the one thing I've been making sure of all along the way is to let them know I have upcoming reservations already booked on my original points for June, September, and December, so if the merging or combining of their points ends up requiring a new contract or member number in any way, that it doesn't cancel those upcoming trips - they've assured me that it won't. When making any changes to your contract, it's generally best to let them know before-hand if you have upcoming stays so they can help make sure you can keep or transfer them - they're usually very accommodating about things like that.

Sorry you got dinged on that one - hopefully if you explain it to them they can try to work with you to either restore it, or at least try to get you something to make up for it.

Wow, I'm sorry this happened. Maybe someone at MS or MA can come up with a positive solution.

As I mentioned, you need to contact MA about it because they are the ones that handle the updated ownership info. Based on many experiences, if there was no change in membership number, then the reservation should not have disappeared.

Hopefully, though, things work out.

Tried that. They can't help, but forwarded my displeasure to the proper department.
We'll see. I will give it a bit longer and then just book another time.

Bad news from here: Several months ago, I looked into adding my DS and DDIL to my contract, and was told, very explicitly, by Member Administration (as they were walking me step-by-step through the process) that adding the add'l owners would in fact cancel any existing reservations. It was a big enough deal to me/us that we chose to not go ahead with adding the kids to my existing contracts. So I'm surprised to hear that anyone was able to add a new owner to an existing contract w/out losing existing reservation(s). You have my sympathy; I'd have been seriously upset had they not told me about the reservation cancellation outcome ahead of time. As noted, it was a big enough deal to us that it stopped us from going forward in adding the kids to my mship....

One other "tidbit" to consider when adding owners to a contract: it's contract-by-contract, no m'ship--in my case, I have nine small-ish (all direct) contracts (biggest one is 150 points) on one m'ship--I would have had to do 9 ownership changes (at several hundred dollars per)....between that and losing my reservations (I almost always have pending reservations) made me decide against adding the kids to my ownership--the kids will inherit the contracts anyway, and between associate m'ship and a separate membership on which the 3 of us are joint owners, it wasn't all that big a deal to forego adding the kids to the 9 "little" contracts....

Wow, @DMKEDM, I had no idea. I guess we were lucky - we added DD at a time when we had no pending reservations (were "saving up" for a big family trip in 2025). We did know it was per contract, but fortunately we only have two.

I'll definitely keep this in mind!

I hope MA can help, @Meriweather !
