Just a thought on phones at WDW...

I've been trying to work out a way to avoid getting a sim card for my phone whilst at WDW. DH will have his phone on at all times so if people need to contact me/us urgently they can always call him. The problem occurs if we go our separate ways in the park/resort and need to organise a meeting point and time. After playing around with my iPhone settings today I discovered that I can put my phone on airplane mode and then switch just the wifi back on. With free wi-fi throughout WDW, I can now email instead of texting and calling. It will save the hassle of trying to unlock a phone and purchasing a sim card.

That's a good thought I suppose that only really works if both of you have smart phones though.

I have an android, but DH drops his phone too many times, so he needs a tough phone

Is the Wifi available in ALL the parks now? I'd only heard it was in Magic Kingdom ( and possibly Typhoon Lagoon?) I really hope it is!

Does your DH have an iPhone too? If so, and if you're both connected to Wifi then you should be able to Facetime each other as well

Just editing my own post.. I see from this (http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/resorts/wireless.htm) that's it's at Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Typhoon Lagoon with the other parks and DD coming soon. Hope they have it in HS by mid-September...

Thanks for clarifying which parks have WiFi Andona. I should really have checked before posting. Sorry. My understanding is that all the resorts have WiFi though.

Great thought re FaceTime but DH has a blackberry and I have an iPhone so it looks like email for us.
