Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

"But I want it NoOOOWwww..."

I think I am one of those weird people who don't really care about going to Hawaii. Europe, yes - beaches, no.

The photo comes from Quiet Weekend in Capri. A great game, especially for travel buffs.

My college roommates brother was that little boy in Airplane. Ross Harris

The monkey in the china cap, too funny!

Daughters too pretty!

Cookies too yummy!

Sorry you didn't make it to Pearl Harbor!

Wish I could figure out this quoting business!

All right little Miss Kitty. It's time for an education so sit down and listen up. (Or not. Did I just tick off one of my few regular contributers? oops.)

Just kidding. Here goes.

Have you ever seen National Lampoon's Vacation? The first one? There's a scene where the Griswold Family get to the Grand Canyon and Chevy Chase has just grabbed some much needed cash from a store till. He quickly rushes over to the rest of the family and Beverly D'Angelo says something like, "Isn't it wonderful, Clark?" Chevy quickly puts his arm around her, nods two or three times and says, "Okay! Let's go!"

That's Ruby and I at a beach.

The DDs love beaches. Spending a day on the beach was on their Hawaii wish list.

The first time Ruby and I went to Hawaii, I had read that one of the best beaches in the world was just up the coast. We jumped in the car and off we went. We got there around 11:00am... and had had enough and were back in the car around 11:15am. And only because it took us about 5 minutes to get back to the car.

BUT!

There's tons to do there. Parasailing, windsailing, surfing, stand-up paddling, bodyboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, etc. Or if you're less activity inclined, shopping, sightseeing, dining, going to shows... You get the idea.

Throw in the fact that it's warm (which is a big deal if you live somewhere where it aint) and a slower lifestyle (no rush, rush, rush) and you've got the makings of a great holiday.

But I'd still rather go to Europe, too. :rolleyes1:

Never heard of it. But thanks for clearing that up for me. :)

:lmao:That's cool! So has he ever been in a Turkish prison?

The monkey in the china cap, too funny!

Funny Ha Ha or funny we should get pkondz into a nice tight straight jacket???

Daughters too pretty!

Thanks!

Cookies too yummy!

I know! Need to make more!

Heads up! and tummies forward...
I've posted links to all the cookie recipes on post #2. If I've missed anyone, let me know. Buzz, I didn't know the name of your Christmas cookie recipe, let me know what it is and I"ll change the title.

That is all.

Hey, thanks. That was mighty nice of you. I've been trying to rebuild my cookie recipe library for the past few years. I lost my recipe collection in that big storm we had a few years back... one of the 2 things I really miss. I've just been using regular old cook book cookie recipes and they're just ok. Even the Snickerdoodles.

By the way, your daughters are lovely. Now, lock them away. (By the time I thought of this with my own, they were already bigger than I was.)

Technically I didn't make these, the "Apron" lady at Publix made them and gave me a very generous sample ;) They are awesome!

Cheesecake Bar Cookies

Ingredients
8 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 stick), divided
10 chocolate sandwich cookies
1 (8-oz) tub white chocolate cream cheese spread
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk chocolate cream cheese spread, divided

Steps
1.Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt butter. Coat 9-inch-square baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter. Crush cookies; combine with 3 tablespoons of the butter. Press mixture into dish; bake 5 minutes.
2.Combine white chocolate spread, remaining 4 tablespoons butter, and flour with electric mixer until smooth.
3.Fold in chocolate chips; drop by spoonfuls onto crust. Drop spoonfuls of milk chocolate spread in between; press gently with back of spoon to swirl. Bake 20–25 minutes or until top is golden and firm. Let stand 8–10 minutes to cool. Cut into bars and serve. (Makes 8 servings.)

I love it when they cook things at Publix, they have all the ingredients right there without having to hunt all over the store for them ::yes:: Excellent marketing strategy for them :scratchin and I don't have to come up with something on my own, which I dread!

Glad to help! Sorry to hear about your troubles. I assume you're referring to Katrina? Don't answer if you don't want to.

Ha! Thanks for the advice! :)

1. Thanks for the recipe. Cheesecake and cookies... what more could you want? :confused3
2. I agree with the marketing angle. My DDs love going to Rona (Canadian version of Home Depot) since they get free popcorn there. They hate going to Home Depot, but always suggest we go to Rona... even if there's no reason. Of course I'll see something I want while we're there... :sad2:

I was wondering what Rona was. I go to Montreal on business once a year (my business trips are shopping trips) and wondered what that store was. :thumbsup2 I may need to stop in for the free popcorn next time - our food allowance doesn't leave much for snacks :rolleyes2

ok, once again, I'm copying and pasting you and me

Nebo:

Just make sure you push the TM back outside the temple before you leave next time, so we can have "Wilbur" making those snide comments like I just did up above.
( I lost everybody on that one, didn't I?)
but for some reason, I have the feeling that Ponzi, you are with me everystep of the way in this visit to obscurity.

And now, Ponzi:

Absolutely! I'm right there with you! I know exactly what you're talking about! You bet! Yup! Uh huh! Yessiree!

Okay, I don't have a clue. Why do I have the feeling that soon I'm going to be

Wow, I am surprised, I really thought
you were with me on this one, oh well, it's like this:

We have quoted from the Time Machine in the past, so that's what led me astray.
Rod Taylor had to move the machine about 15 feet to make sure he didn't get trapped inside the temple when he went back, and I believe it was in the last scene or so of the movie, his cronies are sitting around the fireplace, discussing 'ol Rod's fate, when his one buddy said,,, "For now he has all the time in the world".

The buddy who said this line is actor Alan Young, otherwise known as "WILBUR" from Mr. Ed, the talking horse.

So there you have it, the clues were all there,,,
"A horse is a horse, of course, of course, unless with a horse you have interco,,,,,,,,,,,"

do you want me to go away for good yet?

That was just in case things weren't confusing enough as it is.

Tomorrow, I become Marie the Librarian!

Here's a little confession. I've never seen The Time Machine. I've read the book. So yes I know about Morlocks and Eloi and blah, blah, blah...
But I have no idea who acted in the movie, and the part about having to move the machine, I'm pretty sure wasn't in the book either... so the Wilbur part and the temple part is what threw me. So usually a TM quote would be caught... not this time. :confused3

And no, you don't have to go away. With you out of the picture, everybody'd be nice to me and we can't have that.

I'm just the Robin to Nebo's Batman, or the Watson to his Holmes.

I'm going to continue on my 70's/80's theme and say that you and Nebo are like Bo and Luke Duke to me of "The Dukes of Hazzard". I can tell you this.....the Duke I liked as a kid of five was not the one I favored when I was older. ;)

And now I think I can safely say I am off my early childhood show favorites. I can say that "The Incredible Hulk" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" were probably my two favorite shows as a youngster.....at least until "Knight Rider" came along!! :thumbsup2

Yesssss. It's almost 3:00 in the afternoon. I want a cookie.... one of THOSE cookies. The longer I stare at them, the more I want one. Now, I'm so desperate I would settle for a zebra dome... well, maybe not that desperate.

I'm with you Sandy Mouse! Look on the bright side Pkondz, now you can have Sandy Mouse's share of zebra domes and my share of them as well! You won't hurt my feelings or taste buds. If I could afford it, I would air mail you some of them in a few weeks in a big dry ice packed cooler!

Hey Pkondz, you can call them "Candy Bar Cookies" or you can just call them what you have listed. All that matters is that they are chocolatey good!! :)

I can't speak for Marie, but I think I want to tell her "Sorry"! Just so long as you don't pop up as me. I would hope folks around here could tell the difference! ;)

! I did  Bo Duke.

Don't forget about CHiPs!

Jill in CO

Yea Jill!! :wave2:

I'm glad I'm not the only girl around this TR with some love for the Duke boys. Yee-haw! Bo was my absolute favorite as a kid, but as I got older I realized he had the looks but few brains and I found Luke a little more appealing.

I had a metal "Dukes of Hazzard" lunch box and a huge "Incredible Hulk" Halloween candy bucket! They were awesome!!! ::yes::

I did like CHiPs as well. Erik Estrada was terrific as ponch! :thumbsup2
