Just a Rumor So Don't Shoot the Messenger~ A MSEP 2012 Return?

It's odd to me that since the two parks are on opposite sides of the country, and after all, they're DISNEY and have the money, why wouldn't they have two sets, so they have the option of running it at both resorts at the same time!

There are two light parades. MSEP and Spectromagic. Other than both using lights and being for nights they are not exact clones of eachother.

So you are saying that even though Disney can only have the parade at one of the resorts right now - at WDW - they should build out two parades and let one of them sit in a warehouse on the West Coast somewhere just because they can afford it?

I think the point is more that if they had two copies of the floats they would be able to *have* the parade running at more than one park at the same time. At least that's how I read the previous posters (and the previous discussions on this very topic over the years).

Considering that they *can* only have one MSEP running at any given time in any of the Disney parks worldwide, I would have thought it might be cost effective for them to have duplicates somewhere along the way as well. I can see the reasons not to, but they have shipped the MSEP floats to Tokyo Disneyland before and I would have thought that would cost a small fortune.

I can understand that, but really what happened is DL and WDW did get two versions of the same thing. A light parades to run at night. In a sense MSEP is the original and Spectromagic the newer version though both now are old.

To build another one, wether it is for a US park or a foreign park, is most likely would be another new parade, not another versions of something 20 years old.

I've seen both spectro and MSEP. I enjoyed Spectro but the music didn't really grab me. When I saw MSEP again a few summers ago at WDW, after last seeing it decades ago when I was a kid, I actually started crying. I would love to see it again. There's something so fun and special about any lighted parade, really. But MSEP is the gold standard for me.

(just noticed how large these pics are, sorry)

And I definitely agree if they were to remake the parade today, the hookah smoking caterpillar would probably be replaced.

To be honest, I hope the rumor is true. I have been waiting for Spectro Magic to return, and I just cannot get into the MSEP.

Different strokes for different folks, but the overly repetitive music of MSEP simply drives me crazy.

Sounds like it would be a win - win for everyone....let Spectro go back to WDW, and let DL have their MSEP.

If Disney wanted to have the parade in two places at once then yes they would have to build two parades. But they don't. So I was not able to understand the call for them to build a second parade. It would just be spending money on something they do not want or need.

Except that with having to ship the floats around, you would think it would have been more cost effective to build a second set at some point.

I'm not saying they should. I *like* that there is only one MSEP. It somehow makes it more special to me. And I've seen it at both Disneyland (well DCA) and WDW. And I've seen Spectromagic multiple times. I love MSEP way more, personally.

I'm just saying the cost might have been cheaper at this point to have just made a second one. :)

Would love for this to be true but just can't bring myself to believe it.

DW pulled out an old record the other day. It was a specially made recording of the MSEP music that was given out back in the late 70s early 80s. We spun it up on the record player and it brought back memories.

The record itself is pretty nice. Someone is selling one (not me) on eBay for about $20. I think it is the same one, but apparently there were different versions of it.

I really hope it does come back to DL but that's just because it's one of my favourite memories of Disney from when I was a child. Its such a beautiful parade. Interesting to hear that there is only one set of floats, I totally understand why that would be, but does that mean when I saw the Mainstreet electrical parade in Euro Disney and then later, Disneyland Paris it was the same floats? I find this stuff really interesting. I also have the french CD recording of the music they sell at DLRP, I love that you can buy the parade music on a single following the parade and take the magic home with you :goodvibes
