Just a Reminder for People Going in May

OMG, as I read that, I FELT them crawling on me! That gave me the heebie geebies! BLLLLEEECCCKKKK!!!!! :crazy2:

I'm SO paranoid now! I really don't want to walk around WDW in their 80 degree heat w/ long sleeve shirts and long pants!:faint:
But I'm SO scared of bug bites, I get SO allergic to them. Jeeze...I guess I'll have to shower w/ OFF then lotion myself w/ SSS. (I'm sure I'll smell pleasant!):worried:

Insect bites can definately be a problem in Florida....personally, I don't seem to get bitten, but my dd does. most insects are attracted to smell; all of us humans emit our own personal odor...some of us have the chemical makeup that lead to an odor the attract the insects and some of us have an odor that naturally repels insects...thus the reason some people seem to get torn up while others in the group don't get bit at all....some tips that I have read about in the past: wear lite long sleeves if possible to reduce the amount of exposed skin....also, your perfumes and colognes are some of the biggest attractors of insects; most outdoors experts will tell you not to wear these if you want to limit the amount of insects you attract...coat exposed skin with some type of oil based product(sun screen or tanning oil seems to do the trick for me)....don't walk bafefoot in the grass if at all possible and lastly, try to avoid areas of standing and or stagnent water...hope some of these are a help....

No-see-um bites HURT. So do black flies. I don't think that's what got you. Also in N Florida are those little nasty red bugs -- almost too small to see -- with the painful little bites.

The bites that don't hurt but then itch like crazy and welt up for days are likely chiggers. They love pine needles and dead leaves in general.

I was eaten alive by these things last June. I had never had a problem with them until last year. It was so bad I scratched nearly all the skin off my shin while sleeping! I still have a scar from that. I am not leaving home without the skin so soft this year. I tried deep woods off last year and it didn't do a thing to keep them away.
