As we were entering MGM today there were 2 groups of people that were denied access to the park because they did not have their ID. There were simply told there was nothing that could be done with no ID. So make sure to always carry your ID.

I'm glad to hear that because during an ee morning at MGM back in February they let a family in front of us in even thoguh they didn't have their resort ID cards. The people said they left them in their room. I would have asked them how will you get back in the room since those are your room keys? But instead they were allowed to enter.

Do you mean a picture ID (driver's license), park pass, or resort key? We have never carried picture ID, just park pass and/or resort key. I don't like having to carry more than we need because none of us carries a wallet to the parks, just passes and resort key (with charge) and a little cash in someone's cargo shorts pocket. I have visions of losing someone's driver's license and not being able to get on the plane to get home! (that might not be all bad! LOL)

When I had an annual pass a few years ago, I got asked for a photo ID a lot when I was going into the park because the finger scanner never seemed to be able to read my fingers. I've never been asked for a photo ID when I've used park hopper passes.

Soccer mom--I always worry about losing my ID as well. A friend of mine lost one several years ago, and he had to stay in Atlanta an extra day. He actually had to have a friend break into his house, find his passport, xerox it, and fax it to him. I usually travel with either an extra driver's liscense or my passport (or both).

I had never heard of the need of an 'ID' before, for park entry. After 9/11, they did institute the requirement of a picture ID for tours that took you backstage. I do a tour every trip and did had my license with me (as I most always do) for a tour I did on a trip about 10 days after 9/11. However, I had forgotten my wallet (and license) at my resort the morning of the tour I took in Dec of '01. A CM drove me back to my resort (MGM back to the Swan) to retrieve it (while the group went on and we caught up to them). No exceptions on that rule. But never heard of ID to enter park.

They probably had annual passes. If the biometic thing fails, you have to show photo ID to prove it's your pass. Otherwise, that same pass could get passed around to several people to use on different days. Or perhaps they were cm's, they have to show their company ID to get in (free).

My mom's AP finger scan never works. She has even gotten new ones and still it doesn't work. I think it is because she has bad arthritis and can't squeeze her fingers together good enough in the scanner. The CMs have also never asked for ID from her. They just push a button and let her go it. Maybe because she looks like an innocent grandmother, which she is, that they never card her? We never carry our licenses either as we are afraid they might get lost.

I don't know how accurate that whole "Bio-Metric" thing is.

I have a friend that went in one time with his wife's pass and she had his and it let both of them through with no problem.

I also have never needed or heard of needing picture ID for park entrance. However, I learned the hard way to bring picture ID when shopping at DTD. One time I was denied the discount because I didn't have a picture ID to verify it was me. Also, the next time, when I smartened us and brought my driver's liscence, they did ask for it and look at it(!) before giving me my AP discount.

I have an AP and I've also been asked for my ID on several ocassions when the finger scan thing wouldn't work right. I can't see any reason why you would need to show your ID for any other kind of pass though. That being said I always have mine on me anyway. Would hate for something to happen to me and not have anyone know who I am.

They also do random spot checks, it happened to Dee and I a couple of times. The ticket reader tells the CM to check.

Since Ive stopped getting carded I had stopped bringing my id with me. However, since we got APs for our last trip, and I had herd you may need it, I kept it with our passes at all times. I did get asked for it once entering Epcot, so I was very glad I had it. :D

I got the AP 10% discount at the WoD store and was asked for a drivers license to make sure it was my AP.

We got a Texas issued photo ID in addition to our drivers licenses and never had a problem using them at airports and most other places.

If we're not driving we bring the picture IDs and leave the DLs in the room. Might be a decent option for some if it's available in your area. :sunny:

The biometrics would not work one time on my trip last month and the cm asked me for ID. It's up to the discretion of the cm to just pass you through or ask for ID if the biometrics don't OK you.

We had AP's for the first time and a CM told us to make sure we had our id's with us. Usually we leave wallets in the room, just bring room key. So we took our liscense with us rest of trip but never needed it. It's a good reminder, I never would have thought to have picture id with me.

I think the OP is talking about EE right? I've never been asked to see ID with my AP... even on the times when the finger scan doesn't work.

Foe EE you are suppose to have your room card and no, that may not be your ticket also. I have a AP and my mom will have a park hopper I bought at the Disney Store. I do carry my ID in case the AP does not work which happens rarely. I never wait for them to ask, if it does not work I just pull out the ID.

They were asked for their photo id and it was not an AP. We have AP's and they are made of paper, these groups had a harder plastic type ticket. They had no photo ID so they were turned away. And this was at around one in the afternoon. Isn't the hopper's non-transferrable? Maybe the CM was prompted to ask for ID and they just didn't have it.
