I know the visa debate has been done to death but I just had a quick query. Had heard that you needed a visa if any convictions DH had minor ones as far back as 1985. Got a subject access statement done by police and received replies yesterday both form the Police National computer and also Scottish Criminal Courts both state "there is no information held about you ". Therefore if they can't find any info how can anybody else? Anybody been in this situation? Did you take these letters with you just in case they ask {obviously wouldn't produce them}. :cheer2:

While the US Embassy requires anybody with a convition to apply for a visa, you would appear to unable to provide any information regarding such convictions (as you have been told nothing is held) so the embassy may be unable to grant a visa anyway.

If the UK authorities have no record then it is 100% certain that the US can't (even if they had access to UK records - which they don't)

In your shoes, I would advise going with the VWP and ignoring the previous convictions.

Thanks for that info much appreciated. We live in north of Scotland so we would've had to go to London. I have a relation in Police force and he assured me that US has no access to Police records anyway. :cheer2:
