Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

Again stuff I didn't know :D Great stuff!

I personally love the stamped concrete in Asia, there's bike tracks among all the leaves and such.

That's quite cool. I looked for a few hidden mickeys this trip. Didn't find any I hadn't seen already though... I did find a hidden Remy. He hides in a basket above the counter in the wine shop in the France Pavillion.

I'm disappointed I didn't go through the Africa section in AK. Every building there is a replica of a building found in Africa. I spent most of my time in Asia.

I'm turning this more into a secrets of Disney thread, aren't I? I should talk more about the thread's original topic... Hmm... I think it would be awesome to be an imagineer. Too bad i'm planning on taking Geography at University, and I can't really think of a job I would want to do within imagineering. Is there anything about animals? I might take a joint course with Zoology, or something similar but can't find a University that does that. Reminds me I wanted to look up the college I saw in Celebration to see what subjects they teach.

Offtopic again O_o Maybe I should just stop typing. My responses are quite long.

I have some ideas for rides, and things, but I can't think of any atm. Still tired with jetlag (though I slept for half a day today. More then that actually.)

On IASW, I think quite a few of the characters fit in with the ride. I'm sure some (like Peter Pan, and Alice) were based on Mary Blair's designs for the characters which is why they fit in so well. But then, I despise the Woody, Jessie, and Stitch ones. They look awful. Is there any irony in Disney promoting sustainability, saving power, recycling, etc. recently, yet they tore down the rainforest section of the ride for an America scene? They're definately imitating life with that, destroying the rainforest to make room for new cities, and urban spaces. I believe they're never going to add Disney characters to the WDW version. They shouldn't do it soon anyway, as they only recently redid the ride 4 years ago.

The best thing that could happen to the WDW IASW is getting a real facade... I mean France's (I think it's France) queue is inside the building, but they still have a big goregous facade.

I agree, though, that Peter and Alice fit rather well. The entire America scene is just spooky, the majority of the dolls are COMPLETELY static.

DLP looks amazing. I would love to go there, but my parents aren't to thrilled at the thought, thinking that after being at WDW, going to DLP will disappoint us. Their castle is probably the best looking.

Well, to be honest- it probably would disappoint you. The Magic Kingdom-style park is probably the most visually stunning of any kingdom park.

However:
The upkeep of the parks is TERRIBLE. The Phantom Manor (scarier than the HM, btw), has had their ballroom dancers static for the past half a year. I don't have a list of things wrong, but from what I've heard it gets pretty bad.

The castle is gorgeous though, and the park has some of the greatest imagineering artistry.

That's sad. I still want to visit though. The Fantasyland looks great as well. I was disappointed when I first visited Magic Kingdom because I thought there was an Alice in Wonderland maze there (they rarely show WDW adverts over here. They had an advert with Alice running from the Queen of Hearts in the maze, and I wanted to go in the maze.)

Fantasyland renovation! Looks to be great. Looks like tons of greenery, and running water. I want this to happen. I'm hoping when they finish, it will look like the blueprint, or look better.

I hope it fixes the current FL instead of avoiding the problems by adding extra things.

From what I've looked at, it's awesome, though. There's still a few things I'm curious about (two Dumbos), but for the most part, it's pretty cool.

Dueling Dumbos looks awesome :p I think they've added it because it will lessen the queue times. Double the people riding, half the wait time. That is in theory of course. Too bad it's not behind the castle anymore. I think that's what made the ride more special.

I think my one problem with the current blueprints is that there are so many M&G areas, and little new rides. Sure it mentions a few attractions, but they look to small to be a full-on ride, like the Little Mermaid. I think they're going to be something like Turtle Talk with Crush, or an exhibit. There is a Cinderella attraction that looks like it could be a movie, as it's split into 2 sections. Maybe a new 3-D movie?

Do we really need another 3-D movie in FL... I mean PhilharMagic is still unique to WDW and HKDL.. (Though being added to TDL I believe.)

I love the 3-D movies. Philharmagic is in my top 5 attractions in Magic Kingdom (and probably WDW itself) It never fails to make me smile. I love how when you reach the Peter Pan section and TInkerbell flies up, you'll hear some kids yell out "it's Tinkerbell!". Lion King section is always awesome, because it's the time I notice the whole screen around you (even though Little Mermaid makes use of it). Flying through Agrabah just feels like you're there, etc.

I would like to see more songs added, but that would just make it a bit too long. I never saw a line for Philharmagic. I saw a packed room, but no line. Sad D-:

What songs could be added to Philharmagic. I used to have a list of songs that would be cool to be added, but I can't remember them now.

I would like a song from Hunchback... like Out There.. maybe it's not so exciting for PHM.

Hmmm...

Ooh I would love to see a This Is Halloween, but I think that'd actually be more difficult to adapt to CGI.

That would be awesome. Donald being scared by ghosts throughout :p

I think a Mary Poppins one would be good, like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, but that would be weird in 3D.

What about Heffalumps & Woozles from Winnie the Pooh? That would be creepy :p

Oh, Colours of the Wind! That would be awesome :teeth:

Colors of the Wind and Heffalumps would be sweet!

Mary Poppins, though, what about Let's Go Fly a Kite, and have him up in the kites xD (just a short, segue sequence)

It could connect to the Peter Pan scene, probably before. Just show a bunch of people standing and flying kites, with Mary Poppins flying away, then it scans upwards to the London Skyline with Donald tied to a kite, chasing the hat. His kite is let go of for some reason, and he flies away. Then comes the Peter Pan scene, where he's come off the kite and fallen onto Big Ben like he does :p

There aren't really any logical links to the next song like that though. They mainly have thinks like looking into the sun for the link to the Lion King, large bucket of water thrown for the link to Little Mermaid, etc.

A cool thing in Philharmagic is that most of the dialogue was cut from old cartoons when Clarence Nash voiced him, and only a couple of things were voiced by Tony Anselmo, such as when Donald hums the tune to Be Our Guest.

Ooh good thinking George!

Yeah I was thinking just a short sequence, similar to the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence, to blend right into the next scene.

The rope to the kite could snap and and as he's falling, he gets the pixie dust to fly!

I feel like something really fun could be done with Alice in Wonderland.

Oh! Oh! OH!

I'd love a Substitutiary Locomotion one! I have no idea how they'd do it, but the thought of all of the objects moving and the suits of armors marhcing around Donald sounds awesome. :p

Sorry for [another] post.. what about:

Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride: Disney gets to promote more Stitch, and Donald gets to [try to] surf!

Woot ideas :teeth:

Ooo, Tarzan part, swinging through the vines :teeth:

A Very Merry Un-Birthday : ending with Donald being BLASTED out of the exploding cake. xD
