When I lived in PA, my county paid $9 per day plus mileage. I was called for jury duty 3 times. The county would pay me. But my employer also would pay me for jury duty, minus what the county paid. I would just bring in the check from the county and they would deduct that amount from my regular weekly paycheck.
In my county, when you were called for jury duty, you served a minimum of 3 days. And they would split up the court cases by quarter. So, 1st and 3rd quarter of the year were civil court cases, 2nd and 4th were criminal court cases.
The first time I had jury duty, they only pulled a jury 1 time and I wasn't picked for that jury pool. So, the entire 3 days I sat around and read a book or watched tv with 300 other jurors waiting to see if they would pull another jury pool. The 2nd time I had jury duty, my number was called on the first day for a jury pool. And again, I waited around for 3 days reading books and watching tv, waiting for them to bring our jury pool in to seat a jury. On the third day, the case was settled out of court. The 3rd time I had jury duty, I was able to get out of it because I had served jury duty within the last 6 months.
