Does anyone know how tall this is compared to Splash Mountain? Im trying to work myself up for it.

Has anyone taken young children on? My 4.5 year old meets the height requirement but I'm not sure she'll like that drop.

I think it depends on the child...if your child is daring and adventurous, they will probably love it. But...if they don't like high thrills or big drops, you should stay away from this attraction.

I took my 9 yr old on it and she HATED it, the drop and the giangantic T-rex was what did it .But she also doesnt like the drop on Splash.

My son turned 4 about a month before our trip in October. We had a long talk about the mechanic dinosaurs. The T-rex spooked him a little, but he loved the water ride and the drop at the end. He's a huge Splash Mountain fan. Also loved the Popeye water ride.

If you want a ride that's right in the middle, I suggest giving Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls a try. It's a 75 ft drop, which is a step up from Splash Mountain but not to tall like JPRA. It's also has a steepness of 50 degrees. Hope this helped a bit.

I'm a huge chicken, but decided I wanted to try something new when we were there in August. Wanted to try the Mummy, but couldn't pull the trigger. I worked up my courage to do JP, by making my husband tell me it was no worse than Maelstrom! Well, of course it is, but really, it's over so quick. I closed my eyes at the drop, and was scared, but I lived to tell the tale.:cool1:

Ripsaw Falls is a WAY more intense drop than Jurassic Park. You're in a tiny boat with a few people. On Jurassic Park, you're in a huge boat with 25 people, making the drop seem less intense. If you can do Splash Mountain, you can do Jurassic Park.

Great point. Haven't been on Dudley in a while and forgot what's it's like. :/

DD9 is not very adventurous when it comes to fast or dropping rides. For several trips her brother talked her into it and she would try Splash and hate it. Last summer at 8 she finally decided she liked it. This summer at 9 she tried both Jurassic Park and Ripsaw Falls. She loved Jurassic Park but HATED Ripsaw Falls. To her Jurassic Park seemed less straight up and down and slower than Ripsaw. We didn't make it back to that part of the park, but she had planned to ride Jurassic again but not Ripsaw.

(It's not a water ride and not really comparable, but she LOVED the Mummy ride and we rode it 5 times that trip.)

I would put JP on par with splash. Dudley do-right is definitely more intense

Splash Mountain is 53 feet and JPRA is 85 feet.

Agh! Really!!?

50 degrees! Good gracious? I did this about 10 years ago and my face in the picture makes it look like Im plunging to my death. Seriously bloody murder.

Maybe....hmmm

Does anyone know how steep the drops are on The Mummy ride? Are they like Big Thunder Mountain?

That amazes me. I would have thought they were very comparable. Shows how well I can gauge, I guess.

The Mummy would be comparable or less extreme in my opinion (leaning on the less side). But I would have guessed wrong on SM and JPRA! ;)

The JP drop is higher but you are in such a big boat and so enclosed that it seems less scary. At least that's my feeling when I'm on it.

I haven't been on it in a few years but the drop is way more intense than BTM but also smooth and I don't remember it being a very big drop. BTM is a very mild coaster.

I always find Jurassic Park to be more intense than Dudley. I feel like its a steeper drop. I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy.
