I am so mad. :furious:
(heh, I don't think I've ever used the mad smilie  )

First we all had junk mail that would come to our physical mailbox. OK, whatever......I will find a way to deal with that.

Then our online email boxes fill up with spam. OK, figuring out the best ways to block/delete/destroy/eliminate them.

But today.......oh today I am MAD. I just got a spam TEXT message on my cell phone! The ONLY calls or message I recieve on my cell are from people I KNOW, not some damn company trying to get me to buy something.

When did this crap start? How did they get my cell number? I don't give it out to anyone. :confused3

Add your complaints here.....I'm guessing I'm not the only one to have recieved one of these damn things.

.

That IS really irritating! I'm frustrated with all the junk mail/spam/telemarketers, it's such an invasion. At least with junk mail you have to go get your real mail anyway and you can just toss the junk, and spam isn't too tough to delete (yet still quite annoying) but making my phone ring, now i have to stop what i'm doing to answer it, to sell me crap I don't want or need, UGH! :furious: If I want my carpets cleaned or to donate to the "send a 1-armed blind child to swim camp" I will call YOU! Thats what the yellow pages are for! I don't buy from/donate to telemarketers on this basis alone.

I think you have to add your cell number to the do-not-call list now, too. Can anyone verify that? Not like companies pay attention - my home phone has been on this for years (and I update every six months) and I've received no less than 7 calls from the same company in the past 2 weeks! "I'm on the do-not-call list, remove me immediately from your database" has no effect on them.

You know what's really scary (to me anyway)?? In India, they WANT to be telemarketers..it's a job that they aspire to, the way our kids might aspire to be CEOs.

Odd thing is have you ever met anyone, anyone at all that does not have a problem with telemarketers? And actually buys what their selling? It's shocking to me that I have yet to meet anyone that has no problems with them, yet they are so abundent.

Apparantly it works....

I got an e-mail warning about the cell phone telemarketing plan a while back. I was directed to the "do not call" website, where they give you a # to call from your cell phone to block all of the telemarketing calls. I'll see if I can find it.

I got this a while back...

JUST A REMINDER....8 days from today, all cell phone numbers are
being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to
receive sale calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS....

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:

1-888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list.

It will only take a minute of your time.

It blocks your number for five (5) years.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO:

According to Snopes, having to call to get your cell phone on a "Do not call" list is false.

Correct, the donotcall list is not for cell phones.

Its been over a year, but I got a PORN SPAM email on my cell phone. I was ready to hurt someone! Thankfully it only happened once.

Was that on a phone that had internet capabilities?

Maybe so, but all three of the ones on my account are on the list and have been since April '05.

I don't know what good it'll do, but it's better than nothing.

speaking of disturbing new trends... I got a message on my answering machine today from Samuel Jackson promoting his stupid new "Snakes on a Plane" movie. The message was about 5 minutes long and really annoying.

If you use AOL Instant Messenger and have it enabled so people can send you text messages to your phone, you'll want to make it so only people on your buddy list can do so, otherwise you'll get spam text messages.

Yes. And its not an email I use. I have never sent an email from it or given it as my email addy to anyone. :confused3

I get a text message with the horoscope for Cancer (none in my family) every single day at 7:45, for which I am charged $.02 daily.

I'm actually quitting Verizon over this. It isn't the principle of the thing - it's the money! And the inconvenience. Grrr.
