makinorlando - check with your local police dept before disposing of those stuffed animals. There are programs that accept stuffed animals in excellent condition to give out to children in traumatic situations. I know the police officers here carry a teddy bear or 2 in the trunk of their car and hand it to children that were in car wrecks or in domestic situations.
Since most stuffed animals don't get "played with" much they are usually in pretty good shape!
BEWARE of donating your daughter's prized stuffed animals to Goodwill though if you frequent the Goodwill store. When my oldest DD was little I had purged her room of the clutter including a bag of stuffed animals, one of which was a teddy bear in a red and green outfit that had a loose thread on one paw. Flash forward a month later and I have DD in the shopping cart at the local Goodwill store going past the dump table overflowing with stuffed animals when DD spies a paw with a loose thread sticking out and SCREAMS at full volume. THAT'S MY TEDDY! I WANT MY TEDDY BACK! All heads turned and a few knowing parents chuckled as DD reached over and pulled HER old teddy bear out of the pile and hugged him. I had to rebuy Teddy and I don't dare sell him again (this was 8 years ago and Teddy is still here!).
