Junk-clutter throw out party-wanna join me?

makinorlando - check with your local police dept before disposing of those stuffed animals. There are programs that accept stuffed animals in excellent condition to give out to children in traumatic situations. I know the police officers here carry a teddy bear or 2 in the trunk of their car and hand it to children that were in car wrecks or in domestic situations.

Since most stuffed animals don't get "played with" much they are usually in pretty good shape!

BEWARE of donating your daughter's prized stuffed animals to Goodwill though if you frequent the Goodwill store. When my oldest DD was little I had purged her room of the clutter including a bag of stuffed animals, one of which was a teddy bear in a red and green outfit that had a loose thread on one paw. Flash forward a month later and I have DD in the shopping cart at the local Goodwill store going past the dump table overflowing with stuffed animals when DD spies a paw with a loose thread sticking out and SCREAMS at full volume. THAT'S MY TEDDY! I WANT MY TEDDY BACK! All heads turned and a few knowing parents chuckled as DD reached over and pulled HER old teddy bear out of the pile and hugged him. I had to rebuy Teddy and I don't dare sell him again (this was 8 years ago and Teddy is still here!).

I'm with you. The office is getting swapped with my younger son's bedroom, so I've been working my frustration out on it today.

Just had a sandwich, but I'm heading back in there while DH watches his race. I've got my iPod and trash bags.

I've got two laundry baskets in there with eBay stuff-I need to move those into the garage. We went and bought the paint today, I think I'd better get done cleaning tonight so we can do the painting tomorrow!

PLEASE don't tell me any of you are selling all of your junk on ebay. I get the guilts from my Dsis when I purge a room and give it all to good will or the likes. She says "at least keep it for a garage sale!" I know I could make a few hundred, but COME ON! I don't need more guilt from yet another source! ;)

Sometimes you just need to pack it up and send it away.....am I right?

At my house, the stuff either goes to Goodwill, the garbage, or back to my MILs (lots of stuff comes from her to begin with). I am too busy getting rid of stuff to try to sell it. Plus, the longer it sits around here, the more likely the kids or DH will reclaim it. Better gone forever, even if I don't make a couple bucks off of it.

Next time you've got a load ready for Goodwill, call your sister first and tell her that you were going to take this stuff to Goodwill but wanted to know if she wanted it for her garage sale first. You'll be surprised how many people think you should keep junk, but they don't want it themselves. We had a real problem with my MIL bringing all kinds of junk toys over here for the kids until I started returning them to her for the kids to play with at her house. Amazingly, she didn't want all of those junk toys at her house any more than I wanted them at mine. :teeth:

FlyLady is a great site for motivation. It really helped me de-clutter and keep my house together. I am not a messy person but with kids things got behind and you know toy clutter. I have less stuff now with 3 kids than 1 and much less house stress. :thumbsup2

You are right. I can't be bothered lol and knowing it is going to good will works for me. Just do it your way :)

Very rarely do I sell *stuff* on ebay. It goes to Goodwill. I just found a new consignment/thrift shop where I may take some new clothing that I can't return* and get some cash for it.

*Yes, I return brand new clothing. I keep the receipt and the tags on it and if I haven't worn it in a month or two I take it back. Shoot me.
