Has anyone been to Jungle Jim's Restaurant at the Crossroads? I have a coupon for a BOGO meal that I'd like to use for our trip in October, but, haven't heard if anyone has been there recently. I know the place has been there for years, but, have never heard too much about it. I just checked their online menu.......sounds good. Anyone have an opinion?? Thanks......

My kids love it. We go when we are down at least once.

I read lots of negative things but we have fun and good sandwiches.

Where did you get a coupon like that we would love one?

We used to always make that a stop since our first visit on our honeymoon 10 years ago, but our last time there in April '05, we felt like it had really, really gone downhill. It was dirty to us, the food wasn't as good as it used to be...kind of had a sad, worn-out atmosphere. With so many great places to eat in Orlando, it's permanently off our list...

My family enjoys eating at Jungle Jim's. The burgers are good and one of my daughters really likes the seafood ravioli. They serve your drinks with little plastic animals/figures hanging on the side. My youngest enjoys playing with them so they usually bring her extras.
Saw on your profile you enjoy vacationing at the Outer Banks, NC. Disney and OBX are our two favorites also!

If you check my post history you will see I used to be a huge Jungle Jim's fan, but about two weeks ago, went to have dinner around 8:15 on a Thursday and the dining room was already closed! Bar seating only. The place also had just a putrid smell. Can't comment on whether the food has gone downhill as well because we turned around and walked over to Chevys.

As an aside, on Monday nights now, they turn the place into a "club." Music, bars, "beer pong"... I actually spoke with some Disney CP members who had no idea the place has a double life as a family restaurant. This coupled with the ridiculously early closing leads me to believe they are hurting.

Hmmmm, that doesn't sound too good. We used to like it too and would probably have eaten there on our next trip, but I think we'll pass this time.

Ate their with some friends a few years ago. Service was not great, but maybe it was an off night. Not a place I feel the need to go back to.

We were there in Feb and it was fine it sounds like it is not a family oriented place any longer with the closing of the dining room and just bar area? Oh well this one might be off our lists also.

big mistake went here our first big night in, very close to downtown disney, you got planet hollywood, rainforest cafe, there is a crab house across the street and a ponderosa down further, any of them is better, dumpy, dirty, fake flowers and foilage everywhere, we got beef stew, onlything under 11 or 12 $ and the kids got some fancy drink that was supposed to have some kind of monkey or elephant treat, so they were excited,it was actually a tiny plastic 1 inch toy you get from a bubble gum machine, i have to say i blame mary from mousesavers, she used to recommend this place,it did ruin our first nt. :confused3

I don't know that it is a permanent closure, but yes, the dining room was closed as of 8:15 on a weeknight (barely past dusk). Not sure if it was ever open that day--it was dark and we saw no one still eating, so I figure they must have stopped seating no later than 7:30. Sure it's the slow season, but the other places in Crossroads still get a decent stream of people.

And to be honest, the bar area only had people had two tables, so apparently it's not attracting much of anybody at the moment. A real disappointment, it used to be fun at least.

I have NEVER recommended Jungle Jim's. As a matter of fact, I walked in there one time and walked right back out.

Over the years MouseSavers.com has listed links to printable coupons for many restaurants near WDW, including Jungle Jim's. However, right over the coupon links is a DISCLAIMER that states: "I have NOT tried these restaurants, so don't take this list as a recommendation. I'm just letting you know what's out there!"

Jungle Jims

Orlando Ale House (located near Jungle Jims, behind the 7-11) :thumbsup2

Same experience here, we use to love, love, love Jungle Jim's. Infact there use to be a second location here in Merritt Island, close to the port. But they went out of business a few years back. We've had really good service at the Orlando location and really bad service. It seems sooooo different now, we still enjoy the food, but then again I love hamburgers. When it's busier things seem to go smooth, when it's slow, everyone is just standing around chatting instead of serving. Go Figure. With a BOGO I would go, it will cost you about the same as McDonald's then and at that price it's ok.

I posted a news article about a recent attempted murder at Jungle Jim's. The article said Jungle Jim's is a Kissimmee gang hang out on Monday nights if that answers your question.

Do a search and I am sure you will find it.

We've been going to JJims for over a decade. Never seen a rowdy crowd or anyone that looked like a gang member. That is an upscale area and doesn't seem likely the plaza/restaurant would ignore gang gatherings. It is literally at the Disney gates.

I wouldn't assume this is a problem although any place can be a danger at any given moment. You always have to be careful.

Now has the quality of the FOOD stayed the same all those years? Unfortunately no, but there are many much worse.

Yep, I saw this also on local TV - Monday nights are now a local "club" night, and the stabbing was because the guy had on the wrong gang "colors" :sad2:

The asst mgr actually saved the guys life by putting pressure on the bleeding of the victims neck. When they interviewed the workers, they all said they didn't want to have another Monday night club night....

ORLANDO, Fla. - A man's throat was slashed early Tuesday morning at a popular restaurant near Walt Disney World.

It happened at Jungle Jim's, which is across the street from the entrance to Disney on state Road 535, WESH 2 News reported.

Cory Swift, 25, of Kissimmee, is in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover, but he was pretty seriously hurt when his throat was slashed at the bar of the restaurant, officials said.

Four off-duty sheriff's deputies said Swift made his way to the front of the restaurant where they were working and said he had just been stabbed. Deputies quickly arrested John Feliciano, 19, also of Kissimmee. Feliciano was arrested after fleeing to the parking lot of a nearby McDonald's. He faces charges of attempted murder.

Investigators said Jungle Jim's is a popular hangout on Monday nights for young gang members from Kissimmee. Deputies said they believe the argument between Swift and Feliciano was over gang colors or the clothes they were wearing.

The restaurant caters to tourists and families.

I have to say I agree with everyone else. Loved it there great food fun atmosphere used to go all the time. Then last year went and it was HORRIBLE. I felt so bad because i had actually recommended it to a friend of mine and he went there too our trips overlapped so i couldn't let him know o f the distaster that awaited!! Needless to say add the throat slashing to the dirty booths and botulism burgers and it's goen for good from the to do list! Doesn't sound like it will be around much longer anyway. Shame though was a great place a while back!!

The way places have been closing lately in Crossroads, I suspect management is willing to overlook a number of things to keep rent coming in.

The real problem at Jungle Jim's is (hopefully was) Monday nights. They move out a bunch of tables, dim the lights, play music, and charge $5 a head to get in. I went once (and have been at other places in Crossroads on Monday night), and it is a rowdier crowd than anything you will see at PI or Citywalk. Fights seem common. There is always a heavy police presence, at least four or five officers just standing around outside.

Obviously JJ's would not bother doing this if business was great. This will probably end up being another nail in the coffin.
