We will be at AkL Monday, 1/26. Is it worth it to hang around and watch the parade? If so, where is a good spot to watch it from.
Thanks.

No, it isn't worth it. However, AK is usually a pretty short day for us, so if you have the time, watch it. If you feel like you'll be cutting it short, don't worry...you won't be missing much. :D

I loved this parade. It is really unique.

The Floats and puppets are very colorful and the music is lively. It makes you want to dance the entire time.

We watched it from just before the bridge. We were in the front. Much too close to take decent photos but so close we felt we were part of the action.

I think it's definatly worth it to see it at least once. It's really a fun parade, very colorful and exciting. I always seem to see it from in front of the Island Mercentile near where the pin cart is. Nive view of the parade and to the exits if you have to leave after the parade.

Definately worth it!! It starts from the gates next to Kilimanjaro Safaris, proceeds over the bridge towards Discovery Island and circles the park counter-clockwise, then returns through Africa, exiting through the same gates it started from.

The best place to see it, IMHO, is from anywhere in Africa upon it's return, as most of the crowd has followed it out during it's first pass. You'll have lots of elbow room and a better chance for character interaction ::yes::

My family and I enjoyed this parade very much. We saw it across from Tusker House, outside the big gift shop. An African CM who worked in the gift shop came out during the parade and started dancing to the music, it was so much fun. This is a parade that you can really get up close to the characters as they pass by. There's a lot if interaction. I can't wait to see it again.

We liked it, great music and the artistry of the puppets was wonderful. We don't catch it every time, but if we happen to be near the parade route a half hour before and can find a nice spot to plop, we enjoy it. (more so than say the "snow globe parade" as we call it, at MK. We caught that once and that was enough for us. We are looking forward to a new parade at MK sometime in the future.)

We loved it. Out of the daytime parades that we saw during the 100 years of magic celebration that was our favorite. If you haven't seen it you should. The colors, music, floats, puppets, and everything else about it are great. We watched it from just outside Island Merchantile (the back entrance that is closer to Camp Minnie Mickey), and that was a great spot. Plus after we were able to cut through the store while the parade was still going on and beat the crowd to Rainforest Cafe.

Not really worth it but if you can fit it in then why not?

I missed it two years in a row and then happened to have time this past December.

It was ok. It was very short compared to MK and MGM.

I would never stay and wait to see it again though.

But the MK one I've seen 4 times now.

My 7 year old said she didn't like it and that it wasn't worth our waiting to see it. She has no desire to see it again.

Hope this helps.

edited to add that because of praise of this parade, I made the time to see it this past December and I was highly disappointed. I cannot believe anyone would think this was the best of all the Disney parades!!!

this is my favorite parade of any currently at disney world. i would say don't miss it.

I wouldnt say its the BEST in the theme parks. But it is very colorful and upbeat. The bad thing about this parade is everyone follows it out of the park! They should seriously consider moving the time to earlier in the day, so its not such a mass exit. I would follow the advice I've heard on these boards and be up in Africa when it returns, there should be no one around!
There arent a lot of characters in the parade like you see at MK, but if youve never seen it, you should.

I would agree that you should see it once if it's convenient. Not something to go out of your way for.

I really enjoyed this parade and I wasn't expecting to. We happened to be along the parade route when it came by and although I had no plans to watch it, it drew me in. I enjoyed it very much! It is unique and not like any other parade at WDW. Try to catch it if it is convenient.

It is one of my favorites ! Please don't miss if you can. You will be surprised. Very upbeat , fun and colorful parade.

It's amazing how opinions differ! That's the way it should be. IMHO - I LOVE THIS PARADE!!! It's my favorite day time parade. Hang around and catch it! You will glad you did - even if you don't think it's much (although I can't understand how you would). But, the little bit of time spent is nothing to fret over one way or the other. :)

Is this a newer parage or the same one that they have always had at AK. 5 years ago we saw the parage at AK and we were very disappointed in it, the only thing I remember was some big honey dripping cage being carried down the street.

If it is new, we may try to fit it in.

But will catch it in about 7-8 days.;) Thanks for the tips!

That was The March of the Artimals. The current parade is Mickey's Jammin Jungle Expedition.

I really enjoyed this parade, and I'm not a parade person. If you can fit it in, do it. It's colorful, lively, and fun. I watched it standing across from Tusker House. I thought it was a great spot, not too crowded, and close enough to get a good view.:D

2 thumbs WAY up on Jammin Jungle!!!!

We think its a major highlight. Mostly for the music, but the colors and floats are amazing!!
