Jungle Cruise Breakfast

While I *could* pay, I am ethically balking at it. Again, though, it may be hitting a special note with some that makes them see it as worthwhile, and I'd pay to have breakfast on the terrace in Walt's apartment. Or anywhere else in Walt's apartment!

I don't see how it is different. Some really would enjoy this event, while others may think the apartment breakfast would just be a cash grab. Last time we saw the apartment breakfast it was basically the Carnation Oscar's choice breakfast, on the terrace, with a special pin. So, $275 for a $10 breakfast and $10 pin, and listening to someone tell you about the apartment and cute stories about the grandkids. This time, you get the breakfast, learn to spiel the tour, and get a special gift of a mask (better than a pin.)

Again, what one person feels is worth it, is someone else's cash grab.

It's up to every individual to decide at what point the cost of something becomes more than they think it is worth. There is no such thing as overpriced except on an individual level.

It's semantics. Why I consider it a cash grab is because Disney sees an opportunity to cash in on basically nothing by creating an "experience" and charging a lot of money for it. The fact that it is limited increases the appeal and both the high price and the exclusivity lead to heightened demand. If people think it's super cool, that's fine. I get that. To me, though, it's a Disney money grab. It costs them practically zip and I'm thinking we'll be seeing more of these kinds of elite opportunities since they go over like gangbusters. I'm worried that more experiences will become the domain of the monied, which bothers me. While I *could* pay, I am ethically balking at it. You're basically saying that if it was something you were really interested in, you'd gladly pay the price for that "experience". I guess, to me, it seems that every person that comes into the park is not intended to have every one of these experiences. It's a special thing, a "splurge", so to speak, and it seems like a lot of these things are only offered for a limited time, anyway.

I'm not interested in this one, either, but agree that I would lay some money down to get or peer into Walt's apartment, so I agree with you there!

Snagged a single spot for October! I'm super excited - husband and I were already staying at the Grand that night with Chef's Counter reservations at Napa Rose. Talk about a perfect day!

I worked in entertainment back in the day at MK, and I was so "jealous" of the Jungle Cruise skippers. Can't wait to have my turn as a skipper!

How big are these parties? Does everyone get a whole ride through to speil or just a few moments? Is recording allowed? For me, a video of me as a JC skipper for the duration of the ride would be worth the price. Otherwise, maybe not. I guess it doesn't matter cause it's not offered the days I'm there.

I'm totally guilty of being one who would pay a bunch of money if it meant something to me, and I'm not happy about it because I dislike the whole idea of these 'special' opportunities. I have to face the fact that with the proper incentive, I would (and have) cast aside my moral outrage (which is a bit strong for what I feel, but you get the picture)

Elaborate? Did you feel the same way about the Adventureland Quest and the Juju? What about the Walk in Walt's Footstep Tours? What is giving you the strong feelings about the 'special' opportunities? I'm truly interested in hearing.

I agree. It's completely subjective. I got a res the JC Breakfast because my DD will LOVE it. I wouldn't pay for an event at Walt's apartment because I've seen it a few times and my DH and DD wouldn't appreciate it. I think the price is good because it's a rare event and out-prices some people, but isn't outrageous and pretty reasonable - the proof is in the dates selling out (I'm hoping December 2nd doesn't sell out so my bestie and I can go do it together as we always rode the JC together as kids). We've had days where we've spent thousands of dollars eating/socializing at DL/DCA so $600 for an epic experience doesn't seem that crazy. Again, it's totally subjective.

I got to do the "extra credit" Jungle Cruise juju quest. I think there were maybe 10 of us, but they probably would have taken more. We were all given portions of the script and the boat stopped for each of us to read our part. It's a little above my price point for what it's worth to me (I'm thinking more like $225-$250) but I don't feel completely priced out like some other special experiences I've seen through D23 and AP events in the past. I'm currently saving for a big trip next year, so I'm not going to pay for this, but I probably otherwise would because the Jungle Cruise is a favorite attraction. I've also met someone who went to Club 33 event where they had dinner inside HM. I have a price point that I would pay for that too if Disney ever offers it. On the other hand I'm probably not ever going to pay even $60 for the Blue Bayou Fantasmic meal because neither the restaurant or the show are favorites of mine. Disneyland itself is priced as a premium product, so I don't hold it against people who can spend more than I can for more premiums, or against Disney for offering them. Although the whole, paying $100 for the opportunity to buy 60th merchandise and $50 (which they did refund) for the opportunity to buy Star Wars stuff is a little bit too much, I think.

I'll be honest: even though this is ridiculously expensive, I'd consider it. The Jungle Cruise is my absolute favorite ride, I know the script by heart, and it is my DREAM to be a skipper on this ride. I did send the info to my dad, who replied immediately with "Maybe a combined Xmas/Bday present? But I get to come!" I hope people have a good experience with it, and that this is extended into the spring so I possibly have a chance to go!
