June vs. July

Hi all,
I'm hoping to plan another trip to WDW this summer. Can anyone tell me if there is a significant difference crowd and weather-wise between June and July? DH is a teacher so we're confined to summer.

Our first trip was early June last year. It was in the 90s for the week and rained almost every afternoon or evening. We usually went to the parks early and left when the crowds picked up around noon.

If there's not a lot of difference between what we experienced last June and the average July, I'd rather take advantage of value season.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I would say to go in June. Here's why...July is soooo hot (The heat index will be +100),and the crowds are insane. June will be in the 90's and busy as well but you will not be in that dead heat of summer.

I have a seasonal pass and I do know the entire month of July is off limits to go because that is the busiest time for Disney. My dates re-open at the end of August.

I would take advantage of any kind of "value" you can get.

If you have not experienced a Florida summer, (I see your coming from Chicago) it is VERY hot, Very humid, and every day around 4-5pm it rains for about an hour or so. Perfect time to take a break and go back to your resort. Every once in a while you will actually get a day in which it does not rain, but for the majority of the days it will rain. Just part of the Florida thing!

Hope this helped...

We've been four times in June and twice in July. The first time we went in July, we said we would never go back in July again. Since our APs expired in July, though, we did do a short trip the following July.

I would pick June over July any day. The crowds are somewhat smaller, the weather is somewhat less hot and it rains just a tiny bit less. We had a LOT of rain both times we went in July. I don't mean little afternoon showers -- I mean torrential rain that closed attractions and made it difficult to get around.

We usually go the last week of June or the first week of July (I also teach) and even though it's only a week there is a difference. June doesn't seem as humid and it's not quit as crowded. This year we are going June 18-25.

We went in July for 4 years in a row and I love it. Never got in the high 90’s and very little rain. The few days it rained in the afternoon it was only for about an hour. Everything was up and running unlike other times of the year I have seen many things closed for rehab. We went late July into August this year and it was way too hot and it rained much of the time we were there. We got rained out of our Illuminations cruise . This was the second time I went in August and I will not do it again especially after just missing all the hurricanes. I hate to have to worry about the hurricanes. Also value season starts the beginning of July at the resort we like so I would not go in June when I can go in July and save or stay longer.

I guess I'm in the same boat, but I've already planned to go July 15-29 2005. We were at Disney twice last year once during the first week of June and the second time the first 2 weeks of November. I thought the June crowds were quite manageable and the heat wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The crowds at the parks in November (Jersey week) were even greater then June but the temperature was good.

I guess my question would be for anyone who has experience, are the 2nd-3rd weeks of July going to be totaly miserable ?

I would pick June over July. We've been both. Mid-July is unbelievably humid, but the crowds are manageable. Do EE, take afternoon breaks, and return to the parks in the evening. Also use fastpass as much as possible, and alternate between indoor and outdoor attractions. Do not plan on staying in AK after 11 a.m. That park is by far the hottest, and they don't have as much shade.

The only other thing I saw different besides the once mentioned t between June and July was that the parks are open longer in July.:D

Maybe we're crazy but we love going in July. Last year we were there July 15-25 and this year we'll be there July 3-19. The parks are open late and as long as you plan it right you'll be fine. We do the parks early in the morning and then are back at our resort by 1:00 for swimming and naps (young children). We head back to the parks or dinner around 6:00 and stay until after the parades/fireworks. Just keep those water fans with you and drink plenty of water and you're fine. I don't think I would be able to handle the summer if it wasn't for fastpass. We really like going this time of the year because the parks are always open late.
