We had planned to go to WDW in June 2017. My DH just suggested we go in December of this year. I have always been hesitant about taking the kids out of school (they will be in 3rd and 5th next school year) but the idea is growing on me. Before they started elementary school we use to always go the first week of December but they of course don't remember those trips as much as our last trip (Star Wars Weekends in 2014.)

So would you go - Sept. 2016 (right after Labor Day), December 2016 (first week - or perhaps last week November/first week Dec) or first week of June 2017?

I would do December in a heartbeat. It's my favorite, favorite, favorite time to go to Disney. You'll skip the awful heat and downpours, and get all the holiday decorations and festivities—win-win.

I know...I love December too. Strongly leaning that way as soon as I convince myself that missing school for a week is a good idea. :)

On our last trip I took my kids out of school and they were the same grade as yours. I would not hesitate to take kids that young out. I have stopped doing it now that my oldest is going into 7th grade. If you can go to Disney at a time (anytime) when schools are not typically out, you should do it!

We went December 2014 the second week and it was great. I loved it then. My daughter was in Kindergarten so I didn't mind taking her out. We are going in Sept this year and she will be missing 6 days of 2nd grade but she has been doing great in school and Im not worried about it. Spending time with family and making memories is so important and missing a week of school isn't going to keep them from graduating high school. MY son will be in his second year of preschool so he will just miss three days. I am excited to go when the weather is warmer we have never been when its been warmer than 50/60 and it always ends up being pretty cold. I hope the crowds are about the same as when we went in December because they were great then. We did everything we wanted to.

We always told the teacher (and principal) of our plans. Sometimes they gave the kids some work ahead of time, or asked them to keep a journal on the trip, or just let them make up the work upon return. I even took my kids out in middle school , and my oldest was in high school when we went on a Disney cruise in January.

Have fun!

This is coming from a non-mom perspective, but we went last September after Labor Day and we really enjoyed ourselves! Yes it was still super hot, but we really loved the low-crowds. We were able to do so much in a week. We are going down the same week this year!

September after labor day will have the least crowds which will be very enjoyable. December after thanksgiving and before the madness that is Christmas will bring light crowds (but not as light as September) BUT you'll also get Christmas decorations which are always very cool.

I have gone the labor day week about 7 times and it is my absolute FAVORITE time to go! Crowds were almost nonexistent, as were wait times. It is great! Now, I love the Halloween party and the Christmas Party, so we have done weekends during then too, but I definitely prefer September for the trip. You get to see and do so much!! Have a great time!!

December will be beautiful weather and Christmas decorations. But September will be hot and humid, but very low crowds, and cheaper. Can't see any advantage to June.....so you have to decide what's more important.

I've seen photos of extremely low crowds in September, but I wouldn't want the heat.

We had always done November or December -- four trips -- but then last year we went the first week of September. We loved it and are doing the same week again this year. It was hot, but we are from South Texas, so are used to heat. We got to do a water park, which we hadn't done before, and the crowds were very low, and that is what really made it great, in my opinion. We were able to have great views of parades and fireworks without having to stake out a spot way in advance, and we even got to ride Toy Story Mania several times in one day. Fast Passes were still available well into the afternoon. It did rain one evening and a few afternoons, but the rain quickly passed. So September would be my vote!

We also always go in November or December, the parks all decorated for the holiday is AWESOME! Plus the weather is great.

We have been late September and early December. I like December better, much cooler and christmas decorations.
