Hi everyone! We normally visit the first week in May, but DH has decided we are not waiting until next year and we are going the first week of June for his 40th. We never had much of a bug problem but were just wondering if bug spray is necessary at the sing along/movie and what kind works for you? Also what times of the day or night would you guys reccomend for the pool? We are not used to heavy crowds so we were wondering if anyone has some tips on avoiding the masses a little better. Thank you!!!

Go to the pool early, as the day wears on and heat just keeps rising; the pool will be maxed out by noon or one would be a good guess.

Yes, I would the bugs will be out. I had a quiet bug lamp thing I took once and worked really well. Also just take it with you... Or better yet go one day and spray the beer, mouthwash, Epsom Salt mixture where you want to sit well before anyone is there and that should help too.

I usually go the end of May/beginning of June because I can't wait once DS is out of school. Probably doing the same in 2017. I was talking about September trip since DS graduates next year, but September seems SO far off compared to June 3rd.

I don't remember bugs being that bad. I certainly didn't use as much bug spray as I would around St Louis. "Early" June is generally slightly better on crowds than late June or July. This year the first partial week of June also contains Memorial Day. I've done this before. Memorial weekend, including Monday, will be very busy. By Tuesday, things settle down and it isn't too bad for summer.

Thank you! I think Monday after we get in we will definitely skip the parks and plant ourselves by the pool most of the day!

Camped there in June of 2012. Do not recall any insect problems. As far as the pool goes, the crowd still follows the same routine as now, just more of them. So middle of day on is pretty full.

How busy does the pool by the cabins get (Relative to the Meadows Pool)? Just curious.

This past week we met some people staying in one of the cabins and joined them a couple of times at the smaller pool. The crowd over there varies depending on the crowd at the meadows pool. One day this week the meadows pool was closed for about an hour and a half because the chlorine levels were not right. The smaller pool filled up quickly then. Even when the meadows pool was open we experienced quite a few people at the smaller pool between 1:00-5:00.

We were at the cabin area pool this past weekend at 6:30PM and it was VERY busy!! We were kind of surprised as we didn't expect only a handful of chairs to be available this late in the day. It was also a very hot weekend (not usually this hot yet)...but in the summer I can imagine it will be quite busy...ALL DAY;) People started heading out around 7:00.

We were there last June and didn't notice a bug problem at all. We'll be there this June as well, we go early June and have noticed it gets busier each day that passes, so the earlier the better as far as crowds in June I'd say!

We were there June 8-15 last year and I don't remember bugs being bad at all. Never once used any bug spray.

We never got a chance to go to the pool so I can't help there but would love to hear about it since we're planning another trip for June 2017!
