June or August

Hello - I am planning a trip to Disney next summer with a couple of families (some older kids and some very young kids). We were wondering when the parks would be less crowded - the first week in June or the 3rd week in August? Has anyone been there either of those times? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Never been in August but the 1st week in June is not that bad crowd wise (going in 07 2nd-9th).It starts to pick up from that point on through the summer.

I have been the first week of June twice ad I like it then! It is not too crowded yet (many schools haven't dismissed yet) and the weather is not unbearable yet (the 2nd trip the weather was in the mid 80s everyday ( I wrote it in my journal). Good luck planning your trip!!!

Both are going to be hot and I would guess similar crowd wise. I'd go with June since August is hurricane season.

I went last year at the very end of August. The lines were not bad at all and it was hot but not ungodly. We had a great time. We also went to Daytona beach that trip too. I really enjoyed it.

June-Oct is hurricane season, but things really start to heat up in Aug, with Sept being the peak. Factor in the heat, and I would prefer going in June. As for crowds, some schools are still in session early June (most colleges are done in May though), and many schools have already started back or are getting ready in Aug (look around on the board-some Fl schools started back last week, many around us are starting this and next week).

We will be going August 15-25 next year. We decided that because after reading these boards, alot of the schools are already in session. (Ours does not begin until after Labor Day). The crowds are lighter. Yes it is hot, but we have gone 2 times during July 4th week so I understand hot. Plus, July 4th week is BUSY.

Plus, we are hoping they will do free dining again. That would include our vacation time.

My only concern is the hurricane season....

As you can tell, we always go the end of August. We love it as it is not very crowded and a great way to end the summer. Our friends go the beginning of June and say the same thing. They do say that by the end of the week it is getting really crowded. We never have problems. No matter what it is going to be hot....summer. Good luck on your decision.

We went this past weekend and it was pretty crowded. Not so bad that you couldn't do anything, but there were 45-60 minute standby waits on most of the attractions by mid-late afternoon.

But it was definitely a little TOASTY!!!

Our last trip 2 years ago we went the third week of August and it was great. Only had to use FastPass twice, crowds weren't bad at all, lines weren't bad. We did get lucky and were there between hurricanes. We thought the time of year was so good, we're going again this year at the same time (leave next week).
