Tomorrow is payday for me, direct deposited at midnight tonight, so my month ends early, financially speaking...
It's been a long time since I tracked my spending this closely, and it's miserableMy checking account is *LITERALLY* single-digit right now (plenty of cushion in savings, but I'm not going to touch that.)
DD8 was FLABBERGASTED yesterday on the way home when I told her we could not stop for ice cream because Mommy was out of money. "But you have your debit card!"
So once everything from this month has finished posting, I'll be able to set more specific goals.
True story-- this morning, a random transaction posted from LAST MONTH from Universal Studios... $21 at the candy store in Harry Potter world. Bizarre. So much for "pay cash and it won't haunt you later!"![]()
Same here, this is the end of my month too. My teens were really surprised last night when I told them how much we spent on fast food this month. I need to do better about having some easy meals planned for nights that I don't feel like cooking so I don't order pizza and plan some more meals that my kids can cook when I'm not home.
Most of my other expenses weren't extravagant, just things I forgot to budget for or "deals" where I was shopping ahead for school so things I would have to buy anyway. I'm not quite ready to put school clothes into the budget, but I think I need to set aside some money for the sales that come up.
I almost forgot, my entertainment budget will be lower this month, I got a free membership to our YMCA while my husband is deployed so we can do a lot of swimming there this month and I'll pack a cooler to save on snacks/drinks.
