June No Buy

Great to see all these new faces!

Mom, the party was great! It felt like a club inside the museum haha. Of course the party was mostly in the lobby away from the exhibits, but those were open until pretty late. There was a guy on an electric harp. It was very cool.

I DID buy a dress yesterday, but I'm not including that into my budget. It's a gift I bought for myself with the overtime money I earned. Pretty good weekend overall :thumbsup2

I haven't joined one of these threads in over a year, I hope you don't mind if I jump in :) My entertainment and fast food spending has been getting out of control and I would really like to get my DH's car paid off soon, we owe $2800, so on top of no buy I'm also trying to earn more. I'm only going to post what I buy that wasn't planned for.

Not a good start today, but I had an upset stomach today and didn't feel like cooking for the kids so we ordered half off Dominoes pizza and I ordered a messenger bag from TCP that DS8 needs for school in the fall. Better luck tomorrow. I did save a little on tipping my puppy's groomer today, I usually tip alot because she hates it and tries to scratch and bite her, but today she didn't so I just tipped 20%.

I'm in. We just bought a house so my goal is 5 no buy days. Ever since we bought the house we have almost always had to run to the store for SOMETHING. Yesterday was a hose for the yard and plumbing putty. Today was a No Buy Day! I made something for dinner I got off of Pinterest and canceled my husband running to the grocery store for me. 1 day down and 4 more to go! :cool1:

Busy week but all in all I did pretty well with the exception of Saturday. I had a lot of things I needed (and a few things I didn't) at Wal-Mart. But overall did ok

6/13/12 - $38.58 = $14.65 on cookies for my team at work and "soft" foods in preparation for my dental implant, and $23.93 for Chinese food to celebrate DDs FABULOUS standardized testing scores this year. She has a subtle learning disability and has struggled with reading a lot - but her reading score went up 35 percentile points since last year and she actually made it into the "above average" category!!! Just 3 years ago she was in the "below average" category. All of her other scores increased pretty dramatically as well so she was the talk of all the teachers at school. After years of testing to figure out just what the problem was (APD), therapy, tutoring, hour after hour working extra hard at homework (the both of us LOL) and constant "reminding" by Mom to use the techniques she's been taught, it's great to see things finally coming together and it was definitely cause for celebration :wizard:
6/14/12 - $0 Had my dental implant first thing this morning. Spent the rest of the day enjoying the pain drugs from the comfort of my couch :rotfl: I was banned from driving at all today because of the anesthesia, so I had no chance to spend. But it went great this time (unlike the last time when they decided after I was in the chair ready to go that they needed to delay the implant and do a second bone graft) so I am totally happy - my Oral Surgeon is the best, and the pain is only minor and there's hardly even any swelling. Can't wait until they can put the tooth on - and I can start on the second implant I need. :rolleyes1

I should have had the puppy meds in the budget, but I completely forgot so I'll count it on here so I can remember them next month. I have a bunch of things up on craigslist, but no nibbles so I think I need to reevaluate my listings :confused3. On the plus side, DH got paid today and we had $100 left from his last pay so it went into the car payoff savings.

So today is payday in my world... paydays aren't supposed to be depressing! :lmao: But being on a budget means figuring out how much I "need" and putting the rest into responsible places like savings and extra payments on my credit card I'm wanting to pay off, instead of letting it sit in checking and slowly drain away...

I did the numbers in my bank's spiffy software, and on my debit card alone, I spent more than a mortgage payment on eating out SO FAR THIS YEAR!!!! :scared1: -- and that includes less than $100 spent on our recent vacation, because that was all DRV-rewards and cash from a different account... depressing.

And for all that, it wasn't even anywhere REALLY good... mostly convenience. Very very eye opening. Since until very recently most/all of my spending was routed through my DRV for the rewards, or I paid cash at the little cafeteria downstairs where they don't take cards... the real numbers are probably wayyyy worse. :rolleyes1

So my goal starting today is to use my debit card for every transaction possible, so I can more easily track everything. I will make a goal to have 10 "no buying snacks" days for the rest of the month... that leaves me the two days that my girlies get to choose to get fast food (one day per week) and also my husband is off work this weekend, and that means money will be wasted. :rotfl:

6/15:$2.34 for chips and soda; $5 donation to picnic fund at work, "need" to stop at the grocery on the way home for more soda and ice cream (hey, $2 in icecream at the grocery saves me $15 in Maggie Moo's...)

Zhoen, I like your idea of tracking your spending better by just using your debit. That's the reason why I used my KTTW card to pay for everything when I was in the World. When you're just draining cash, it disappears so fast, but if it's all being recorded and you can see it, it's a lot more eye opening.

I went to drinks with my co-workers last night and my boss paid for all your drinks! She's really awesome :thumbsup2
