16/20

I don't anticipate any more spend days in June but I have stayed under budget, so even if I don't quite make 20 (which I won't), I'm still VERY happy with my progress this month.

I went to the outlet mall in DH's hometown when we were visiting the in laws and I spent $226 on summer clothing for DD, DS and myself. I saved a ridiculous amount of money, around $300 (everything was 40%-70% off), so we should be good for the summer.

sorry, I totally failed at a no buy month. Worked on grad dinner for the grade 8's for my kids school and we bought meals to go from the grocery store almost every night. Will try harder for next month. I haven't even grocery shopped for the week yet :(.

Spent way too much on food because we ate our for every meal so we will have to cut back somewhere to make up for it.

Yay!! I love Round Rock!!! What a great deal on gas!!! Paw Patrol sounds great! I'm glad you and your munchkins had fun!!!

sorry, I totally failed at a no buy month. Worked on grad dinner for the grade 8's for my kids school and we bought meals to go from the grocery store almost every night. Will try harder for next month. I haven't even grocery shopped for the week yet :(.

There's no way to fail, as you set the rules!!!! I don't count groceries, prescriptions, doctor co pays, cleaning supplies, Uber (as I don't drive, except if it's an unnecessary trip), pet food or paper products, as we need those.

I count extras, lunch out, dinner out, ice cream out, extra clothes, toys etc. Which unfortunately I am too free with and not disciplined enough about. Which is why I am happy StayhomeMom77 started this thread!!!! It has made me more mindful of my spending!!

So set a goal, that is a challenge, but doesn't make you feel as if you've failed!!! It's what you personally want to accomplish for yourself!!! ((((HUGS))))

I also don't count things that I view as necessities like groceries, personal care, cleaning supplies, etc. But if it really is more of a want than a need, that is my test for including it here. Even clothing can be a need vs. a want, depending on the circumstances. Eating out is usually more of a want for me with a few exceptions. Like @SunnieRN said, you make the rules.

sorry, I totally failed at a no buy month. Worked on grad dinner for the grade 8's for my kids school and we bought meals to go from the grocery store almost every night. Will try harder for next month. I haven't even grocery shopped for the week yet :(.

The No-buy post is specifically why I logged back into the Disboards after a long absence. There is NO FAIL with this so long as you try. It is just about you thinking about your purchases and doing your best to be accountable for your spending. You don't have to log in every day unless you want to or need to and you set your goals.

I would say, just think through and be realistic about your spending then set yourself some goals. I currently exclude groceries and gas from my reporting and next month I'm going to exclude eating out on Friday and Saturdays with the husband (He's pretty frugal and doesn't need to do no-buy so I'm pretty much going to eat out twice a weekend if we're both home). Mostly this just makes me think about what I'm spending and stop because I know I will post my spending here. I've had 2, count'em 2, no buy days since I started, but because I'm accountable by posting to this thread, I think purchases through and contemplate and wait instead of impulsively buy things.

I don't think you failed at all. You know where your money has been going for June - that is the point of No Buy! Now you can think through how you want to be accountable. Maybe now you know that you need to do the meals-to-go from the grocery store because you are too tired to cook/too busy to cook in the evenings, which is 100% understandable; now you know that is a necessary expense that shouldn't be cut, so you can think through other places you might can reduce spending.

16/20

Well I should hit 17 tomorrow which is not bad. Pretty near all my shopping was planned and necessary and within budget, so that's good enough for me.

Yesterday was DH's birthday. He loved the beard trimmer that I got for him. I knew he would because he had been eying it every time we went to Target. He used it right away.

We thought about going out for ice cream as a treat, but DH decided he didn't want us to spend the money. Then I remembered that I had everything necessary to make some mango coconut ice cream right at home, so that was his birthday treat. It was super yummy and cost us nothing!

Well I was hoping this would be a no buy day, but I got my gift card for Target, so purchased a $50 Disney card with it, which is coming in the mail, free shipping. I also got earrings for my grandmunchkins to bring their maybe someday she will be, step mom, for her birthday. Total OOP, using my red card, $5.52 and $.75 for an adorable gift bag!!!

My grandmunchkins leave Saturday for two weeks with their Dad. I'm going to miss them SO much!!!! But I'm very happy they get to see their Dad.

I am going to call it for tonight. Today was actually the opposite of a no spend day. DH and I had a camping trip this weekend, but we have cancelled it so that we can go and visit with may parent's labrador. He is 14 years old and they will probably be putting him down in the next few weeks, maybe sooner. DH couldn't live with not getting one more chance to say goodbye. So we cancelled the bird sitter and our camping reservation for the weekend, which means we will be saving $86 that we had planned to spend. Also, I sold something on eBay and will be getting $150 for that. So more money that I am putting towards our debt dumping.

I am pretty proud of myself this month. Thank you all! This group helped stop me from impulse buying something at least a few times and I really liked getting to know you all better. Looking forward to next month's thread!

Wow!! You've had an amazing month!!!! You've really done fantastic!!!!!

I'm sorry about your camping trip and the fact that your husband will be saying goodbye to a friend of 14 years. Our fur babies definitely snuggle into our hearts and it's so hard to think of losing them!

He is a great dog and I am very sad, but it isn't a surprise or anything. We last visited over Thanksgiving and weren't expecting him to make it even this long. I am not upset about cancelling the camping trip. DH has only known Indie for about 5 years, but he loves that dog so, so much. We can go camping another time, but we might not get to see Indie again. It was not a hard choice at all. Plus I will get to spend the weekend with my dad too, which will be very nice.
